Această versiune a Bibliei reprezintă integral si nemodificat textul biblic revizuit de Mitropolitul Bartolomeu și aprobat de către Sfântul Sinod al Bisericii Ortodoxe Române. Limba română a acestei ediții este cea mai limpede si mai adecvată pentru un cititor modern, care nu are mereu acces la subtilitatile teologice si filologice ale Bibliei. „M-am hotărât ca întreaga lucrare să apară sub semnul diortosirii - mărturiseşte autorul - iar aceasta nu neapărat din modestie, ci din rigoare ştiinţifică şi probitate morală. Originalitatea cu orice preţ implică riscul desfigurării”. Şi tot el ne dă şi explicaţia: „Hotarul dintre traducere şi diortosire e uneori extrem de subţire. Traducerea este aflarea unei echivalenţe absolut noi a textului original, pe când diortosirea nu e mai mult decât o îndreptare operată în textul dat (o actualizare lexicală şi gramaticală, o modernizare în conţinut şi formă - n.n.).
