## What is Bicameral?

Recording stays on while the screen stays awake. The display no longer auto-locks while the camera is open, so a hands-off take on a tripod or stand records until you stop it. This matches the behavior of the built-in Camera app.

Simpler controls while recording. Only the controls that work during a take stay on screen: the camera-swap button steps aside for the photo button while you record, and buttons that would end your take early are dimmed. Everything returns when the recording stops.

A more dependable record button. Tapping record twice in quick succession could confuse the app — the controls stayed on their idle look while a take was actually rolling, and recording could stay stuck until you relaunched. Starts are now handled once, and the on-screen controls always match what's being recorded.

Sharper picture-in-picture. The inset is now filtered when it's scaled, so its edges look smoother in recordings while the main image stays pixel-sharp.

Better fit with Display Zoom and larger text. If you use Display Zoom or a larger text size, the on-screen controls now fit the screen: the storage readout no longer runs under the Settings button, and the recording controls stay centered instead of spilling off the right edge.

More consistent on-screen controls. The recording-time and storage indicators now match the rest of the live-preview chrome.

Better bug reports. If you report an issue, the diagnostic log now includes the previous session too, so problems that happened before a relaunch can actually be investigated.

Plus fixes for the horizon level near upside-down, the exposure slider unlocking focus, taps on the letterbox bars, and the self-timer after rapid taps.

### 1.8 — 2026-07-26

Picture-in-picture is now smoothly filtered in recordings, so saved videos and photos match the live preview. Also improves the horizon level, tap-to-focus accuracy in split layouts, and VoiceOver support — plus reliability fixes for recording, saving, and crash recovery.

### 1.7 — 2026-07-13

Version 1.7 brings a round of refinement and reliability improvements: a more consistent, polished live‑preview interface with unified on‑screen controls, smoother manual focus and exposure tools, and behind‑the‑scenes stability and memory‑handling enhancements — plus assorted bug fixes and UI tweaks.

### 1.6 — 2026-07-09

This update sharpens the everyday experience:

• Clearer camera controls — crisper icons and a cleaner look make the quick-settings buttons easier to read at a glance, including a clearer indicator for Pro features.

• Your latest shot, front and center — the gallery button now shows your most recent capture the moment you open Bicameral.

• A fresh dark-mode app icon.

• More reliable recording — new safeguards help protect your take if storage runs low or the camera is interrupted mid‑recording.

• Accessibility & polish — larger‑text support in the camera picker plus stability improvements throughout.

Thanks for shooting with Bicameral!

### 1.5 — 2026-07-05

NEW: Center Stage (Pro)

On supported models, Center Stage now keeps you centered on the selfie camera as you move — built right into dual-camera recording. Turn it on in Settings and stay in frame while you vlog, react, or teach.

Also in this update:
• A redesigned lens picker shows a live preview of every lens before you choose
• Selfie mirroring now stays perfectly consistent across your preview, your photos, and your videos
• More reliable photo capture — your shot is never dropped when you move quickly between controls
• Composited photos keep the right shape in every mode
• Smoother rotation, layout, and overall stability on iPhone and iPad
