### 3/5 — Not working properly

*2024-08-27*

Pretty disappointed in the app. Currently riding the pacific coast. App worked great for the first week but now while researching any “distance from me” or distances between two locations, I keep getting the error message. “Index was out of range…” Resorting to google maps for the next five weeks I guess. Too many bugs in this app

### 3/5 — Gpx files

*2022-09-06, version 3.4*

Good app. Wish my gpx files would go on it

### 3/5 — Lacking Intuitiveness

*2022-05-01, version 3.3*

I’m trying to navigate this map frequently want to check the legend to figure out what some of the symbols mean. But the legend isn’t that easy to find and in trying to locate it I end up moving the map or changing some function. Shouldn’t the legend be a button right ON the map so you can flip to it with one step?

### 3/5 — Map zoom and alternate routes

*2020-06-28, version 3.01*

When using the navigation the zoom level is too tight. Unlike other navigation maps one cannot zoom out. That is, while one is moving. If stationary i can zoom out but as soon as I move the zoom snaps to an almost useless level.

The map does not offer alternate routes to a point that may be off route. Requiring back and forth with other navigation apps.

The display of the map is far too pale. Non route connecting roads are practically impossible to see when navigating.
It would be useful to see them as a guide back to the route in cases where a make detour of a few streets.

Mote information could be added to the info panels. Perhaps gathered from recent users.
I would have loved to see up to date info for campgrounds and towns. Like a rating of campsites or details of amenities. Options for stores within local range.

### 2/5 — Barely usable

*2019-08-11, version 2.25*

App could be sooo much better. It’s barely useful. Buggy. I have to use another gps app with it for actual use cycling. Biggest complaint: app won’t auto- rotate to let you know which fork in the path you should take while riding. Have to stop. Orient the map. Then proceed.

### 3/5 — No accompanying map

*2019-05-19, version 2.23*

I bought the Arkansas High Country North route for $10. It’s just a purple background with no route or mapping information. Nowhere to ask for help or clarification. Wasted money and time.

**Developer response:** Mark, It sounds like you might not have an internet connection for the base map. You can download the basemap for the route for offline use when you do have an active internet connection and then the map will show when you are offline. Hope this helps.

### 3/5 — Cannot get the app to work

*2019-03-24, version 2.20*

Trying to create a route and the app will not let me select any points of location.

### 1/5 — Difficulty locating local routes

*2018-07-08, version 2.05*

Seems to only offer standard catalogue of long routes and not thousands of routes local routes triggered by location setting. Disappointing if that is the case because that’s what a traveling cyclist is seeking epic local rides without stopping at local bike shop to inquire

**Developer response:** Yes, the app is for the Adventure Cycling Associations Route Network and service data along those routes. The app does not include local routes.

### 4/5 — Where did riding conditions go?

*2018-06-21, version 2.05*

Been using for the last month. Like the app, but suddenly lost riding conditions. Fortunately I read a head a little and a local reminded us of a section of 94 to stay off of. Also, elevation is way off on some routes which has made planning a little difficult. Will send examples later.

**Developer response:** Hi Gail,
Currently, the riding conditions require an internet connection but we will look to cache these within the app in a future release to make sure they are always available. Let us know if you are still having an issue getting to the riding conditions when you have an active internet connection.

### 2/5 — Bad app, great data.

*2018-05-21, version 2.05*

The data is the only reason you might want to get this app, and then you’d quickly realize that the data is the only useful thing. The app itself is extremely basic, to the point where you will definitely need another tool, and then you might as well have just bought the gpx files from the website.

You can’t change map tiles. Google’s street maps and that’s it. You can’t customize the route at all or export it for use in another app. You can’t add your own data. One nice feature I guess is the elevation profile viewer, but that’s not worth buying this app for alone, and there’s no real reason otherwise to buy it over just the data.

Additionally, and why I’m here, the app begged me several times in the first few minutes of using it (I hadn’t even found the map catalog yet) for an App Store review. Knock that garbage off.

TL;DR just buy the data and use literally any other mapping tool you might want to use. It’s the same price.

**Developer response:** Hi Jeremey,
Thanks for providing feedback on the app. It will help us to continue to make improvements in the future. You are able to switch between Google Maps and an Open Cycle Map layer on the layers tab. In offline mode, you are only able to use the Open Cycle Map Layer. We also have wind and weather data layers that can be enabled as well as a severe weather alert layer. These all are controled through the layers tab accessed through the magnifying glass icon in the upper right hand corner of the app.

I understand your displeasure with the prompt for the reviews. iOS controls when the review prompt it displayed. We will have to keep that in consideration for future releases.

Many of our users want a straight forward app that is easy to use. That is why we do not currently support importing additional data or exporting data. We do offer the digital data packages for those who prefer another app or have specific needs beyond the average rider.

Thanks again for provinding feedback as it will help give us direction as we continue down the road!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Dumb route planner

*2023-01-20*

Why do I have to route from Calgary to Missoula USA or whatever IT’s called to bike 12 km to a local shop? Makes no sense.

### 1/5 — Not intuitive

*2022-10-13, version 3.4*

The app is not very intuitive. Difficult.

### 1/5 — Irritating

*2020-08-29, version 3.01*

One star because every 30 seconds the app it asks for a review. Well here you go. One star.

### 1/5 — How annoying!

*2020-07-24, version 3.01*

In four minutes testing this app, I got six pop ups to rate this software. It would seem to show they don’t have a clue in their approach towards their customers.
It may be decent or even very good software - but I’m not sticking with this to find out. I’ll try it in six months, one more time.

### 1/5 — Bugging me

*2020-03-15, version 3.01*

Just got the app and exploring it. Not even on for two minutes and this wouldn’t let me go without putting in a rating.

### 1/5 — Stop

*2019-12-03, version 2.25*

App keeps asking for feedback

### 1/5 — Not what I expected

*2018-10-04, version 2.05*

I guess this could be used in addition to the adventure cycling maps but that’d be redundant in my opinion. This is not a substitute for cue cards. Waste of $6 for map section

### 1/5 — Lack of any real content. Waste of money.

*2018-09-01, version 2.05*

Purchased a map for the Utah Cliffs Route within this app and was given a purple line.
There’s no effective route description. No road names, altitude change, previous known road conditions... $6 for a purple line. I’m going to have to match this line to something I can create on gmaps, spend a few hours, and may not even ride the correct route.

Thanks for nothing.

### 1/5 — Not intuitive hard to use

*2018-08-06, version 2.05*

There doesn’t seem to be any intro guide or tips to get you started. And there’s no intuitive way to search for a place and get a good bicycle route there. Not sure what the point of this app is, other than compiling park loop maps. I can get those from parks.

**Developer response:** This app is for riding the Adventure Cycling Association touring routes.

### 1/5 — Annoyed!

*2018-07-17, version 2.05*

I’ve had this app downloaded for about 15 minutes- I’m still trying to figure out how to use it. But the box “please rate this app” has popped up about 10 time already.

I have no basis yet to rate this app. But basically I’m just annoyed. Can you PLEASE let me use it for a little while so I can figure out if I like it?

**Developer response:** Hi Dave,
Thanks for providing the feedback. We will look into the issue with the prompt for reviews. Hope you have had a chance to get familiar with the app.

Awesome app

### 5/5 — I Love It!

*2019-11-18, version 2.25*

I just completed the Southern Tier route and used the bicycle navigator app. Initially I thought it was unnecessary. I then met someone in Austin Texas who is using it for the same trip. Once I saw the value of it I purchased it and never looked back. It saved me numerous times from going off route and getting lost. You always know where you are and where you need to go when you’re using this app. It is simply a must have in my opinion. I love it!

### 5/5 — Bicycle routes maps

*2019-09-15, version 2.25*

This helps so much as a supplement to my paper maps . 😀👍

### 5/5 — Electronic maps for adventure cycling maps

*2019-05-23, version 2.23*

Good start for this app. I’ve been using it for a month now on the Atlantic coast trip. Suggestions
Have heading up display.
Have a different color for south to north streets you need the paper maps as well to know this why
Have voice directions all other travel maps have this

All in all your off to a good start love not having to use the maps
Gets me into camp every night.

### 4/5 — Family Sharing NOT Supported!

*2022-06-05, version 3.4*

I called the App Store and they confirmed 😢.

### 4/5 — Should do the job

*2020-05-07, version 3.01*

I have the Adventure cycling maps. I enjoy the hands on mapping process. Although the app so far is a good function. Lots of cool features. I literally just uploaded the app and no solid info, all in all pretty cool.
