Big Sonic Heaven is a 24/7 Internet radio station hosted by Darren Revell. The station is dedicated to the ethereal and lush sounds of shoegaze, dream-pop and post-punk with a splash of trip-hop, darkwave, synth pop, britpop, etc. New and classic artists are featured regularly. Big Sonic Heaven started in Detroit in ‘95 as a specialty radio show on Planet 96.3. After an 8 1/2 year run in Detroit, Indie 103-1 Los Angeles was the next stop. My friend turned me on to Big Sonic Heaven when we were in high school in the 90’s. Coming from the southeast Michigan area, Sunday nights on 96.3 FM was home to a radio show playing music I had never, or rarely heard before. I learned of this internet radio station last week and it is as amazing as it was back then!

I listened to big sonic heaven when it aired on indie 103.1 in Los Angeles. I was super sad when the station folded in 2009 and haven’t gotten over it. So it has been the most delightful surprise to have found my favorite music show on its own little app. The loves feature is everything as there is no need to write down song titles anymore. All the stars for this app. Thank you so much 🥹
