## What is BigKeys Large Key Keyboard?

Big, easy-to-read keys for seniors and anyone with low vision. Type in Messages, Mail and every other app with fewer typos.

MUCH BIGGER KEYS
Each row of the usual keyboard is split across two rows, so every key is roughly twice as wide. The letters grow with them. Four sizes, from Medium up to about three times the standard key.

LESS SCREEN, SAME BIG KEYS
Turn on the thin strip above the keys and the keyboard takes less of the screen, while every key stays exactly as big.

BIG EMOJI
Tap the smiley key next to 123 for the iPhone's own emoji, as big as the keys. The ones you sent last come first.

SEE THE KEY BEFORE YOU COMMIT
Nothing is typed when you touch a key. Hold your finger down and the letter appears above it, very large. If it is the wrong one, slide to the right one and let go. Only then is it typed.

COLOURS THAT WORK FOR YOUR EYES
Yellow on black, white on black, black on yellow, black on white, or matching your iPhone's light and dark mode. If bright screens are painful, the dark themes are not a novelty — they are the point.

HEAR WHAT YOU TYPE
BigKeys can speak each key as your finger passes over it, and each word as you finish it. It works alongside VoiceOver rather than talking over it.

WORD SUGGESTIONS
Suggestions appear in large type as you type, and BigKeys learns the words you use most. All of it happens on your iPhone.

TEN LANGUAGES, ONE KEYBOARD
English, Hebrew, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian and Arabic — including right-to-left. Add it once and switch between them from the keyboard.

NOTHING LEAVES YOUR IPHONE
BigKeys never asks for "Allow Full Access". You can check: Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > BigKeys. There is no such switch. Without it iOS will not let a keyboard reach the network at all, so nothing you type can go anywhere.

BEFORE YOU BUY
iOS never allows any third-party keyboard into a password field. Apple's own keyboard appears instead. This is true of every keyboard app on the App Store and cannot be changed.

Setting BigKeys up takes about a minute. The app walks you through it one step at a time, in large print, and tells you when it is working.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.12 — 2026-09-24

No more missing letters.

When you typed quickly, a letter pressed before the previous finger had lifted could be lost. So could a careful press that ended between two keys, or one that rested a moment on a key with accents. Every one of them is typed now.

The enlarged key is always above your finger.

On the top row it used to appear beside the key. It is now always directly above it, and you can turn it off in Settings if you would rather not see it.

Bigger word suggestions.

Suggestions now fill the strip above the keys instead of sharing it with a copy of your text. Turn suggestions off to see a large copy of what you type there instead.

The missing letters were reported by a customer who types in Arabic. Thank you.

### 1.0.11 — 2026-09-22

Emoji that were there all along.

The emoji panel sometimes drew empty keys. Tapping one still typed the right emoji, because the emoji was always there - only the picture was missing. It is drawn a simpler way now, and it stays drawn.

A shorter bottom row on the Classic layout.

The row with 123, space and return was half again as tall as the letter rows above it, for no reason Apple's own keyboard shares. It is now the same height as a letter row, and the keyboard is shorter by the difference - with every letter exactly the size it was. Split rows are unchanged.

Both were reported by a customer who uses BigKeys in Arabic every day.

### 1.0.10 — 2026-09-21

The currency key shows your own money.

The numeric keyboard had a dollar sign on it in every language, wherever you were. It now shows the currency of your region, as the iPhone keyboard does - euro, shekel, rouble, riyal - and the key types it.

### 1.0.9 — 2026-09-21

Dictation now speaks your language.

Pressing the microphone typed English whatever language BigKeys was set to, unless you had just pressed the language key. BigKeys now tells iPhone which language it is every time the keyboard appears, so dictation follows the keyboard.

A smaller strip above the keys.

The band above the keys was taking a quarter of the keyboard, and most of it was empty. It is now about half as tall, in every language and layout, and the space goes back to your screen. Word suggestions still work exactly as before, and no key got smaller - on the Classic layout the keys are slightly larger.

Both were reported by a customer who uses BigKeys in Arabic every day.

### 1.0.8 — 2026-09-20

• The numbers keyboard showed 6 7 8 9 0 above 1 2 3 4 5 in Arabic and Hebrew. Digits read left to right in every language, and now they do again, as on the iPhone keyboard. Thank you to the customer who spotted it the day the last update arrived.
