### 2/5 — Can’t believe I paid for this

*2018-04-11*

Working only online, so you could actually find better instructions on YouTube

### 3/5 — Just ok

*2017-08-05*

Embarrassed I paid for this app. Absolutely nothing special about it. Some videos would've been more helpful in this descriptions are just mediocre. Doesn't do a good job addressing subtle variations between different manufacturers. Don't waste your money.

### 2/5 — Not for Total Novice

*2016-08-26*

I have to admit to not having needed to use this App in an emergency but just reading through it I am terrified. I have returned to cycling after 30 years - and reading the bit on 'what to do if you get a puncture' I don't think I could cope at all. Also I've never heard of anyone have a spare inner tube in their bag - is this normal? Maybe it is but I have no idea of knowing. I find my bike hard to manoeuvre though it's very light 10kg - I have to take the front wheel off and undo the brakes when at home to hang it on the wall and it takes me 40 minutes to put the wheel on and adjust the brakes, each and every time. I just know, if I got a puncture out with my bike, I'd be helpless as I'm not sure what I'd do -- I bought this App so I wouldn't feel helpless but it's just made me feel worse. Isn't there something out there for the complete beginner? Please?

### 2/5 — Okayish

*2015-08-10, version 2.6*

Changing the cassette on my bike I bought this app to help as I hadn't done it in a year or two. However, I found the instructions laboured and cumbersome. A search on YouTube gave me much better instructions and was free.

### 4/5 — It's good, but lacking in content

*2015-06-07*

The content that's there is ok. Was expecting a little more really. Would be nice to see it also cover HandCycles as there are some differences to look out for.

Think it could also be expanded to have info as well to cover certain subjects for those wanting more from the app

### 5/5 — Quick helpful guide

*2015-05-31*

Excellent quick guide for bike maintainence. I'm a beginner and I find the descriptions clear and the photos very helpful.

### 5/5 — Fantastic!

*2015-04-04*

As a complete novice who is happy to get his hands dirty having s try and learning, this app is amazing!
Brilliantly simple step by step guides and a must for anyone who is prepared to have a try.
I'm not in the habit of writing many reviews, so for me to do this, I must be happy!

### 5/5 — Worth a few quid

*2015-03-23*

Well designed, clearly written. Covers most topics.
Hopefully it will be expanded in future updates with more detailed explanations.

### 4/5 — Great app but could use more articles

*2015-02-14*

I really like this app, it's a very useful reference when working on a bike. I do think that for the price the number of areas covered is too low so I hope more will be added. For example there is nothing on servicing hubs which would be a good addition

### 5/5 — Good helpful guide

*2015-01-25*

A good app that is very useful for novices like me when attempting bike repairs.

### 5/5 — An essential bike maintenance app

*2014-11-21*

Fantastic app for beginners with detailed instructions and photos.

### 5/5 — Superb and well thought out bike app

*2014-11-19*

This app tells you all you need to know about how to keep your bike in good condition. The photos are large and clear. The instructions (and warnings) are precise and enlightening.

Andreas has put together the sort of travelling manual that a newbie can use--also helpful for those more experienced. The section on oiling the bike gave me insights on this that I didn't know before. It's good to learn new things.

### 4/5 — Very Helpful

*2014-10-19, version 2.5*

Glad I got this app. Will try to follow the easy to follow instructions rather than turning to bike store to do it for me !!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2014-10-11, version 2.5*

Cannot recommend this enough. Has saved me lots of money by repairing simple jobs myself.

### 5/5 — Great app.

*2014-08-19, version 2.5*

Highly recommended by me.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Good info but app is soooo out of date.

*2019-06-07*

This would be a 4-5 star rating if the devolpers weren't lazy and would update this app. App looks like I'm on an iPhone 4. If you're accepting money for an app then keep it up to date. Partly my fault, I should've seen it hadn't been updated in 4 years.

### 1/5 — Absolute Rubbish

*2016-05-16*

This App is OK for 6yo kids with bikes with stabilisers.

I've had the free version for a few years now and what I was expecting for my money in Version 2.0 was an improvement in the repair skills.

I know how to oil my chain. I want to know how to maintain my Disk Brakes

I've just done £3 in

Please show your metal and address the level of technical skills in the App.

### 1/5 — Good app but feel conned

*2015-06-16, version 2.6*

Great app, however feel very let down that Iv had to pay for it twice.Bought it last year and when I tried to re download it I was charged again

### 1/5 — Robbed

*2015-06-02*

What a waste of money. I'm no expert but what I have just read is pretty basic. As a lot of modern cycles have disc brakes surely that should be included as that is a little more technical. Would I get a refund as I already know how to oil a chain. I doubt it.

### 1/5 — Where is the Road Bike

*2014-09-21*

I selected road bike but everything seems to mountain bike, total waste of money for me

### 1/5 — Waste of Money

*2013-11-25*

Hey Bike Doctor, 1970 called and it wants to review your tips. Everything in here is old and not relevant to current technology.

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2013-09-05*

Waste of money, we are now 2013 put some real bikes up not 1960 bikes! put today's mountain bike on there with the new age running gear.

### 1/5 — Very basic

*2013-07-17, version 2.4*

Great if you want to know how to do the very basic stuff but for anything else it's rubbish.
A waste of money.

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2013-07-13, version 2.4*

Looked good but failed to impress. The contents are basic and nothing more than you could find with a simple google search. Photographs look like they are off the 70's. Wish I could have a refund.

### 1/5 — Poor value

*2013-06-29*

Spelling mistakes
Uninformative pictures
Use of undefined terms
Expensive.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Really Useful App

*2026-06-15, version 2.6*

Very clear step by step instructions on how to adjust, maintain and repair your bike. Good photos and diagrams. And it’s always with you, on the phone.

### 5/5 — Makes DIY bike maintenance a breeze

*2017-12-24*

I used to have to rely on my bike shop for most all of my bike maintenance. And while there are still times when I’ll take my bike in to the shop, this app has helped me fix some basic issues when I simply couldn’t take it in to the shop. I just completed my first ever gear tune up, and I’m able to easily shift through all of my gears again! The instructions are clear and concise, and the pictures help a lot. A must have for DIY bike maintenance. Plus, by doing my tune up myself, I’ve covered the cost of this app several times over in just one sitting.

### 5/5 — Useful!

*2017-04-01*

This app can best be described in 3 words-- Simple, reliable, and thorough. The amount of informational organization and gathering makes this app worth your money.

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2016-07-03*

Love this app some of the things I can do in my own and some I can't do but this app is very helpful. I had to get a new rim/ wheel and I don't know if it is the brake shoes or the rim it is very hard for me to stop ( rear wheel) I found on this app on how to clean the wheel and I have done it that way. But I feel I should go back to the dealership that put my rim/ wheel on and tell them just to change the brake shoes.

### 5/5 — Great app, definitely recommend

*2016-05-22*

Great

### 5/5 — Good basic maintenance

*2016-03-12*

Does what it says on the tin - helpful basic DIY maintenance. Good UI.

### 5/5 — Great app, much improved with this update

*2015-12-25*

You can maintain your bike with this app. Would like to see more tips on riding techniques, and more diagrams/line drawings for some of the advanced adjustments/repairs. Well done!

### 5/5 — Helpful

*2015-11-04*

A very useful aide-memoirs that can be carried on rides and propped up in the garage for fettling duties!
Easily understood, even a d.i.y dunce like me can use it😊

### 5/5 — Pretty good

*2015-10-08*

Very helpful app, enjoyed reading it. Lots of basic stuff and not too much that will get you in trouble

### 5/5 — This is a great app

*2015-09-01, version 2.6*

I've found this really useful. I'm female, retired, and the only cyclist in the household and have had to teach myself to do many of the basics of caring for my road bike myself. This app, combined with some good YouTube videos, has proved a great combination to learn from. The explanations are simple and well-written and the photos are good. Even where it's a different type of bike being modelled, I can usually relate it to my own bike. I always use it when I have a job to do... Today's was fitting a new chain for the first time.
