Bike Streets does a good job of keeping me on quieter side streets even if it’s a bit out of my way. ### 5/5 — Very cool cycling app! *2025-08-25* The app feels like it was written by cyclists who get what city riding is all about. The data is great, but the real innovation is “Wander”. I love just going for rides, and “wander” allows for aimless riding for fun and exploration. While you’re on your ride, you can see where you are in relation to the bike routes. It’s amazing to not have to have a destination, yet still track the route. Bike Streets is able to help me fill in the gaps for places I’m unfamiliar with. For example, neighborhoods like Lowry and Congress Park are less familiar to me, and instead of scrutinizing Google Maps bike infrastructure layer like I usually do before heading to unfamiliar areas, Bike Streets has helped me navigate in real-time with a high degree of confidence. My favorite feature of the app is seeing the total number of matured trees saved and the CO2 diversion because of the community bike miles. Download the app and who knows? Maybe you’ll be chatting with a fellow bike rider at an intersection about your Bike Streets memberships - makes for a delightful interaction. ### 5/5 — Great way to get around Denver by bike *2025-02-13* I love this app. Bike Streets are such relaxing calm streets that are perfect to go for a ride on. They’ve allowed me to explore new parts of town that I never would’ve felt comfortable going to because I didn’t know which streets were safe is for biking. I have been (up until now) an almost-never rider, mainly because I am scared of car traffic. But Bike Streets makes me excited to ride. It routes me on quiet streets and I love the community aspect - every bike trip I take is adding to the Bike Streets tally. You can really see how together we’re making an impact choosing bikes over cars. It makes me want to turn the app on even when I know the route to follow just so my miles get logged for the cause. That said, the turn by turn directions are super useful and make it fun and easy to explore new places. Love the map that shows you how much of the city you’ve explored, too. This one blows everything else out of the water! It takes me on fun and efficient bike routes every time. My biggest complaint is it’s Denver only and that doesn’t seem fair to everyone suffering in every other city! The roads near me showing as recommended paths are too narrow to safely bike, they don’t even have a sharrow as other nearby roads (that also aren’t showing on this map). ### 2/5 — Not what I hope *2025-07-13* I downloaded the app hoping to get local bike maps as I’m new to Denver. Instead I had to create an account, accept terms to give away my info, and then be asked to pay $50 (!!!) for a fairly new app that just tries to gamify capitalist consumption. Now I can’t find how to delete my account. ### 2/5 — Not good *2025-05-03, version 4.0* A good idea in theory, but it crashes every 30 seconds and you have to pay to use it. Finally resolved to get back to the joy of cycling last month, and this app has made all the difference. My house is surrounded by massive thoroughfares that happen to have unprotected bike lanes painted on them, and I’ve never felt safe on them. I’ve felt strangely trapped in my neighborhood because of this issue. This app showed me a brilliant cut through at a local that put me on safer neighborhood streets with virtually no motorists. That alone is worth 5 stars. I genuinely have some peace of mind when I’m biking now.
