Billie Tracker is a groovebox: a step sequencer, synth instruments, a sampler and a mixer, built as one instrument for your phone or tablet. You write music in a grid. Notes go into patterns, patterns chain into sections, and sections line up into a song, so a full track grows out of small pieces you can reuse and rearrange. Trackers have worked this way for decades. If you have used one, this will feel like home. If you haven't, a built-in tutorial walks you through your first pattern, and every screen has help one key away. It is not tied to one sound. Shape the synths from clean tones to heavy drive, sample anything and play it back as an instrument, and make whatever you want to make: techno, ambient, hip hop, pop, or the 8-bit styles trackers are known for. What you get: - A step sequencer for notes, instruments, volume and effects, with chains and a song view for arrangement - Synth instruments you can shape: timbre, color, filter, drive, envelopes and LFOs - A sampler that records straight into the app, so your own sounds sit next to the synths - A mixer with per-track levels and sends - BOUNCE and STEMS, so a finished song leaves the app as audio - Bundles: a song and every sample it uses travel as one file - A control surface built for tracker speed. Moving it stamps the old default onto phrases that already have rows, so raising it should not add silence to the end of what you have written. - EDIT with up or down doubles and halves a phrase's length. EDIT with OPT hands it back to the song default. - EDIT on a song or chain cell works on the cell in front of you. - The built-in themes have been tweaked. - The screen is drawn at a higher resolution, so widgets can carry more detail. - The MACRO oscillator's envelope is smoother. There is more to come on it. - Background playback is improved. Deeper integration with the system audio controls comes in a later release. ### 1.4.0 — 2026-08-26 What's New in 1.4.0 - PLAY works after you record a sample. It used to go dead for the rest of the session, and only quitting the app brought it back. - The built-in mic records again after you have used an interface. With a pair of 3/4 or higher saved, the mic was read on a pair it does not have, so meters, the AUTO trigger and the take were all silent. Quitting did not help, because the pair is saved. - IN and PAIR sit under the waveform on the sampling screen. OPT with left or right steps the pairs the device offers, OPT with up opens the picker. Choosing an input used to mean a trip to SETTINGS. - An unplugged sampler input falls back to the default, and IN names it.
