### 4/5 — My business relies on Billings Pro

*2026-05-20*

Even though it seems like they’ve been neglecting the Mac OS app, it still functions, albeit some minor bugs. I use this app daily. I hope they release some stability updates soon.

### 2/5 — No actual improvements for over 5 years

*2020-03-20, version 2.2.12*

I have been using Billings pro for 8 years and have not seen any actual improvement to the UI and actual UX for over 5 years.

Suggested improvements have not been implemented, and while it seems to be robust for the basics, the necessary improvements to creating Reports has not been implemented.

This is cheaper than other software but without the additional benefits. Best to use the desktop version than the iOS app.

### 3/5 — Useful when it works...

*2020-02-27, version 2.2.12*

Not at all reliable. You have to get the desktop App also, the mobile app alone will lose you time while you wait for it to work, and cost you money when it syncs badly and doesn’t update slips etc.

### 2/5 — Lots of potential

*2019-10-22*

Could have been a great system including iPad, iPhone, & watch support. But the systems don’t sync with the desktop apps which haven’t been updated in years. Not sure what’s going on, but looks like I’ll be looking for a new billing solution - again..

### 3/5 — iPhone X support please

*2017-12-20*

It would be nice to have iPhone X support.
I expected it in the last update.

### 1/5 — Great theory - terrible execution

*2017-09-18*

This app has been used since 2014 in our law firm, the more "updated" Apple becomes the more out of date this app is. Great idea, looks good, and if it operated would be amazing - but really really fails at executing.

### 1/5 — App doesn't load

*2016-07-09, version 2.2.3*

The app doesnt load properly and then you are unable to delete the account

### 1/5 — AVOID - DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

*2016-05-17, version 2.2.3*

AVOID - DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

Connects to self hosted server but doesn't upload anything from iOS devices - despite 'completing' a sync, nothing is uploaded and subsequently can't be worked on, on the Mac.

Used to be reliable. Now the product has gone to hell.

Connection works fine from the Mac, and iPhone, but won't connect to self-hosted server from iPad - in fact, won't connect at all, just sits at 'connecting' and never does anything.

What gives?

iOS 7, iPad 4

### 1/5 — Thieves

*2016-05-11, version 2.2.3*

I can’t believe they switched to a monthly subscription. I paid $40 for the previous version of the program, and everything was just fine. I do a little freelance here and there. Sometimes I’ll do one project a month.. Sometimes several.. And then there are times where I won’t need to bill anything for months at a time. With the previous version of billings, the $40 cost for the program was perfect for me. Their new subscription plan is absolutely ridiculous, and makes continued use of their service difficult for freelancers like myself.

### 2/5 — Can't input exact times

*2016-04-27, version 2.2.2*

2 stars because it imports my contacts however I can not input exact times on the invoice. I can put the start & end date or the hours I'm billing for but not the time. There is also a limited amount of invoices to choose from... For such a pricy app I expect more options and it would be nice to be able to use pre-existing invoices or be able to choose from different logos.

### 1/5 — Doesn't sync as promised.

*2016-03-05, version 2.2.1*

Unnecessarily complicated. When sync breaks it's almost impossible to fix. Email only support from the company.

### 3/5 — An improvement, but...

*2016-02-26, version 2.2*

I like the new interface for iPhone. However, I think that there should be settings to customize what is viewable on the main screen. For example, I only want to see active projects on the main screen. Please fix this!

### 1/5 — Bring back the home screen

*2016-02-17*

I've used Billings Pro for years. Marketcircle has been great in the customer service department. I've been very happy with Billings Pro. Despite this, I'm extremely disappointed with the newest User Interface (UI) update to the iPhone app. The home screen has been replaced with a useless system that shows clients, invoices and projects. This isn't as useful on the iPhone as is a quick and easy way to enter your time and associate it with a client and project. That function has been relegated to a corner button and smaller Windows inside the iPhone screen. The app is cumbersome to use now.

Please bring back the home screen and easier time entry UI

### 1/5 — Never subscribing, using the old apps

*2016-02-17, version 2.2*

I’m one of the lucky ones: I’m still able to use the old iPhone app (Billings Touch 1.1.6, working on iOS 8) and the old Mac app (3.7.8, still working on El Capitan). I write unlimited invoices, no subscription needed. After all, I purchased this software! Why should I pay monthly to use the newest versions if the old ones still do the job? And honestly I’m getting fed up with all these subscription services nowadays.

### 2/5 — Good start, but needs some work

*2016-02-17, version 2.2*

Needs way more control over view options. E.g. Not being able to show only active projects etc... Means projects from years ago plague the home screen, which should really only be showing matters that are relevant now. The same goes for clients (ie having an option to show only clients with active projects)

### 1/5 — Horrible UI

*2016-02-16, version 2.2*

The one thing I liked about the iPhone version of Billings Pro was that it didn’t have the same, unintuitive UI as the iPad version. Well, that all changed and now the iPhone and iPad version share the same, frustrating, poorly-design UI. This is a huge step backwards and will most likely cause me to just forget that a mobile version of this app even exists.

### 3/5 — Latest update has broken the timer widget

*2015-12-20, version 2.1*

The latest update has broken the timer widget in iOS. It was always a little flaky, but very useful.

Now I'm wishing I didn't install the latest update

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Been using the desktop app for years, but this mobile app is useless

*2025-01-06*

Useless is not an understatement. I mean, this is truly utterly useless in every way.

I try downloading this app every few years in case it has been overhauled, but it never has been. It’s a bummer because the desktop app is pretty great and I have relied on it for a very long time. It would be cool to take care of things on the go. But alas!

### 1/5 — Developer Seems Disengaged

*2023-09-17, version 2.2.12*

I’ve been a Marketcircle customer for a decade and their development seems to have vaporized. I used to see frequent fixes and updates and now I don’t see anything at all. Their support team responds quickly and without fail, but nothing ever gets fixed or updated. A while back they switched to a subscription model with the usual promises of more updates. I don’t think they’ve held up their end of the bargain at all.

### 1/5 — 2 years old app!

*2021-11-23*

How Apple can allow a 2 years old app without updates ? Are they still in business ? Terrible app

### 1/5 — Greedy Developer

*2019-10-15*

I Paid for this app when it first came out. Now they want me to pay for a subscription. Unacceptable.

### 1/5 — Inconsistent and Confusing

*2019-01-15, version 2.2.11*

The Mac app is outdated now (I am getting compatibility warnings) and looks nothing like the mobile app, leading to confusion when going between them. Also syncing does not seem to work well between mobile and desktop. There are much better, cheaper options out there, so with regret, I have moved on from this app.

### 1/5 — Low functionality & editing slips on iPad still shows iPhone size editing display

*2018-10-11*

The title says it all. Cannot edit slips on iPad as the screen is way too small. Not worth installing. Stick with Mac version.

### 1/5 — Not synced, mismatched features, useless

*2018-08-30, version 2.2.9*

I’ve never really used the iPhone app, it always messed up sync sometimes creating or deleting items at random, but I generally had a laptop with me with the desktop app. When I actually need the mobile app to invoice while on holiday, I tried it to find the amounts inaccurate, the syncing not correct & items that aren’t even marked as complete included on the invoice. I couldn’t use it if I wanted to look professional & be accurate, so I’ll just have to wait til I’m back at a desktop & delay my receipt of payment. Useless and makes me want to move away from Billings ASAP.

### 1/5 — Marketcircle ending self-serve

*2018-06-22*

Marketcircle has decided to end the option of hosting your own database, instead forcing you to use their cloud servers for a monthly fee. I will never rely on cloud services for my business - both times I tried, their servers were down and I could not retrieve an invoice for a client asking for one. Highly embarrassing when someone wants to pay me but can’t because MY stuff isn’t working. Since making the choice to use self-serve, I’ve had 100% uptime. I was in control. I will not pay them monthly to lose that level of control over my livelihood. Ending this product is a poor decision. According to their mass-email to self-serve customers, we only make less than 15% of their revenue base, so financially they’d like to trim that and force everyone to the cloud under the guise of “consolidating their software developer team.” That choice will cost them customers when self-serve customers have better options to go to, and cloud customers get fed up with downtime and a lack of competent support. They could have charged a yearly fee for updates and support, so long as they kept the self-serve product working I would be happy. I was originally a Billings customer, forced into to Billings Pro when they decided to end that product, now forced away again, this time from their company altogether. Inconvenient to lose my options when all they have to do is maintain a product that works well as it is.

### 1/5 — ?!?!

*2018-04-26*

Downloaded this app. I tried to create an account. EVERY single time, it said my business ID (or whatever it said) wasn’t available. So I tried 10 more. After the app closed on its own while I was trying yet again to create an account, I checked my business email. TEN emails. One from each of the accounts I attempted to create because the app said it failed.
This does not give me confidence in this app.
I then tried to unsubscribe, each time it led me to a 504 gateway time out page.
Crap app. Don’t waste your phone space.

### 1/5 — Doesn't even open

*2018-01-04*

Pretty bad when you can't even set up an account because their cloud server is down.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Still the best!

*2020-01-04*

I’ve used it for years!

### 5/5 — Perfect !

*2019-11-26*

Perfect billing tool.
I'm a French user.
No expensive for the provided services.

Now using it since 2006

### 5/5 — Still very stable

*2016-02-20, version 2.2*

I have been using Billings (and Daylite) for a few years and have been very happy with the product. The new update adds for me what I was missing on my iPhone - the ability to see the last days of billable time. I sync with my own Server it I use it constantly. I am very happy with the App and latest update.

### 5/5 — Simplicity on the go

*2015-11-18*

I have been a Billings customer for many years now, and the iOS app is an extension of their great desktop software. While I don’t take advantage of everything inside of the iOS app, it does a great job of allowing me to quickly see things at a glance. I can transfer from the laptop to the iOS app and see my time/revenue, and then quickly break that down and view by client. As with the desktop app, it’s beautifully design and simple. It stays out of my way and let’s me get my work done.

### 5/5 — Great and easy to use

*2015-11-17, version 2.0.2*

I’ve been using Billings Pro on all my IOS devices and Mac for over 4 years. Great app for on the go accounting and billing needs.

### 5/5 — The best way to time slips, invoice, and bill clients.

*2015-11-16, version 2.0.2*

I am a solo practitioner, running my own law practice. I have been using billings for the last eight years, and it has only gotten better every year. The developers are extremely responsive and helpful, and there's no better app! The Mac and iOS apps do everything I need.

### 5/5 — Best CRM for Mac

*2015-09-18*

I have done lots of research before making a decision. Daylite takes total advantage of Mac OS & iOS in its interface. Might have a bit of a learning curve, but well worth the time because of the full featured options in the software.
Great job and, if you apply yourself to the extensive video tutorials, you will not be disappointed. The customer service team is extremely responsive via email getting back to you in no more than a few hours.
Highly recommend for novice or power user.

### 5/5 — Upgraded self server and clients

*2014-10-26*

Using the self serve server is only for technical users that know software and networking. If you don't know much about this, you may be better off with their cloud server and paying monthly fees. Get a consultant if you really want self serve.

I am still using dyndns as the dynamic DNS service so I don't know how switchboard is working anymore. Ever since we switched over from switchboard to dyndns, we have had almost zero sync problems. It's only when upgrading I get nervous anymore. This seemed to be the smoothest upgrade of server and client.

We had to delete the apps on the iPads and reload reload the clients to get them synced up. Hopefully going forward it is smooth sailing.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2014-09-12, version 1.8*

I have used the app for consulting work. It works beautifully to time and document my billed hours.

The program is very easy to use and will allow you to set billing increments, even actively time your hours worked with an active stop clock!

The technical support is exceptional. I recently thought I had lost data. Within an hour, technical support had helped me find the information, which had been safe and sound in my account all along.

Thumbs up all the way...

### 5/5 — THANK YOU

*2014-08-26, version 1.8*

Wow it's here !
