## What is billy.?

Billy makes the invisible visible. Every purchase travels up an ownership chain — from the brand on the shelf to the parent company to the shareholders who profit. We show you that chain, plainly, using public records. Every claim tied to a named source.

Then we put you in the same room as your neighbours, so you can do something about it together.

WHAT BILLY DOES

• Your Money — Scan a receipt, import a bank statement, or share a receipt email. Billy maps the ownership chain behind each purchase and shows you where the money actually ends up. All parsing happens on your device.

• My List — A shopping list that remembers what you buy regularly, surfaces local and independent alternatives, and captures what you wish existed in your community.

• Neighbours — Your community's real activity: what people are buying, what they're asking for, and which campaigns they're running.

FOLLOW THE MONEY — ownership chains, shareholders, and documented actions (federal lobbying, political donations, labour findings, environmental filings), each tied to a named source. We surface the patterns too: where a company's harms cluster, and who profits. You decide what they mean.

BOYCOTT TOGETHER, NOT ALONE — Individual boycotts fizzle. Coordinated ones bite. Billy is where a community picks a target, states its demand, and tracks who's in — a campaign with a scoreboard, not a hashtag that fades.

LOCAL ALTERNATIVES — same need, more money staying local.

VILLAGES — local circles where organizing happens; shared needs, offers, and campaigns, each tended by a Keeper.

A SHARED TREASURY YOU CAN SEE — a Village can run a mutual-aid pot. Billy keeps the ledger transparent but never holds the money; it lives in a member-owned credit-union account.

A REASONS BOARD, NOT A SHOUTING MATCH — a Polis-style board that surfaces which reasons cross groups and which divide them.

PRIVACY BY DESIGN — data stays on your device; no ads, no tracking, no data sold, ever.

Plus tiers (Observer / Participant / Pro) and the "public infrastructure" close.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 8.3 — 2026-08-14

WHAT HAS CHANGED:

ONBOARDING - REBUILT
First run is now a guided flow rather than dropping into a dashboard. It
opens on a live barcode scan with a guaranteed "see an example" fallback if
the camera is unavailable or the scan misses — relevant on a simulator. It
then walks through an animated ownership reveal (which respects the system
Reduce Motion setting), a single-owner harm view, and an optional Pro step
that can be skipped.

HOME
The first session now leads with the scan rather than an empty dashboard.
A Pro mark sits in the header and disappears once subscribed. Community
progress is shown alongside the member's own tracked spend.

MOVE / ALTERNATIVES
This screen was refocused: campaign content was removed so alternatives are
its whole job. Alternatives are now calm single-line rows that open a detail
sheet on tap. Completing an ownership reveal opens Move on the brand just
revealed. New verified switch pathways give concrete, sourced steps for
leaving a subscription or a bank.

MONEY
A range pill now drives the entire screen, defaulting to All. The
independence trend follows that range and is no longer gated. The monthly
commitment control is a visible, accessible slider. Projected spending is no
longer mislabelled as current. Import fixes: the RBC PDF parser reads whole
statements rather than the first page, CAD$ amounts in CSV imports parse
correctly, and a bare "interac" is no longer misclassified as a transfer.
Unrecognized merchants are queued for research instead of dropped.

OWNERSHIP ACCURACY — THE BULK OF THIS RELEASE
Ownership stakes now distinguish VOTING power from equity and are labelled
as such everywhere they appear, including off the ownership chain. Companies
with unsourced ownership show an honest empty state rather than an invented
chain. Retracted ownership records are honoured as retractions. Duplicate
company and shareholder records were removed. Individual chains were
re-verified against primary filings.

PUBLIC RECORDS / ACCOUNTABILITY
US PAC donations and FEC cycle data are live. Canadian federal lobbying
registrations and government contracts are live. Every public-record row
carries a tappable link to its source. Influence claims without a checkable
source now fail closed and are withheld rather than shown.

CAMPAIGNS
Related campaigns can now group under a single umbrella. Campaign copy was
re-verified against primary sources and several claims corrected. A
published 14-day correction-review promise is reachable from the correction
flow. The featured monthly target and daily action are now configured
server-side.

APPEARANCE (NEW IN 8.3)
A dark theme for the Billy 2.0 look, selectable in Settings > Appearance,
alongside a revised light palette. Settings moved from a floating
top-right button into the bottom navigation bar.

### 8.0 — 2026-08-05

Billy 2.0 is here — a warmer, simpler Billy.

• Fresh new look — a warm cream, terra, and gold redesign throughout
• Rebuilt Home — a cleaner layout that leads with what matters and surfaces a fresh insight each day
• New Money screen — see your spending at a glance and set how far you want to go with a simple drag-to-commit ring
• Move tab — find better alternatives and make the switch in one tap
• Collective tab — join community campaigns and help decide this month's shared action
• Unlock as you go — features open up naturally as you use the app
• Clearer navigation — Home, Money, Move, People, and Collective, right where you'd expect them

Plus company sourcing details, ownership chains, and a range of polish and performance improvements.

### 7.5 — 2026-07-22

billy. is a rebrand of our previously approved app (formerly "A.Billi", bundle com.abilli.app — same developer, Parallel Systems). This version is a simplified relaunch: users look up or scan a brand to see its corporate ownership chain, then share it or view alternatives.

### 7.0 — 2026-07-15

This update simplifies onboarding (fewer steps, ownership lookup shown earlier), adds a follow-up notification when a scanned product isn't initially recognized, and reworks paywall messaging for our existing optional paid tier (no new in-app purchase products, no pricing change). No changes to permissions, data collection, or third-party SDKs.

### 6.9.1 — 2026-07-13

IN-APP PURCHASES IN THIS BUILD
1. A.Billi Pro — app.abilli.pro.monthly — $2.99/month (unchanged from prior reviews).
2. A.Billi Keeper — app.abilli.keeper.monthly — $4.99/month (unchanged product,
   CHANGED behavior — see below).

"CHOOSE YOUR LOOK" THEME PICKER (cosmetic personalization, not separate apps/features)
During first-run onboarding, and anytime after in Settings, a member can pick
the app's visual "look." There are two named themes — Folklore (a warm,
parchment-and-ink, storybook aesthetic) and Futurism (a dark, holographic,
data-console aesthetic) — plus the default Legacy look in light or dark. Every
theme renders the exact same features, data, navigation, and screen names
(Villages, Neighbourhoods, Your Money, etc.) — only the color palette,
typography, and decorative chrome change. Switching is instant, free, and
reversible at any time; it does not gate or unlock any functionality. Earlier
review notes referenced additional in-progress theme names.
Folklore and Futurism are the two member-facing themes in this build.

CHANGE SINCE THE LAST REVIEWED VERSION — FOUNDING A VILLAGE IS NOW FREE
Previously, founding a Village required purchasing the Keeper subscription.
That gate has been removed: any signed-in member can now tap "Build a Village"
(Neighbours -> Villages) and create one immediately — a name, a short purpose,
and explicit agreement to the community covenant, with no purchase involved.
Founding is still rate-limited server-side (max 3 per member per 24 hours) and
new Villages remain user-generated content subject to the same moderation
safeguards as all other user content: Report on content, Block on users,
reports routed to abilliapp@gmail.com with a 24-hour response commitment,
ejection of abusive users, and the required covenant agreement.

The Keeper subscription remains in this build for members who want organizer
standing without founding a Village themselves (e.g. being invited as a
co-keeper, or using the Keeper dashboard/broadcast tools). It no longer gates
the founding flow.

COMMITMENT SLIDER (existing gesture, now reaches two more looks)
A drag-anywhere gesture on the Your Money screen — present in this app well
before this review chain — lets a member live-preview "what if I shifted more
of my spending toward independent businesses." It has always shifted only the
member's own real independent/corporate split and never gated any content. As
of this build the same gesture also works when the Folklore or Futurism look
is selected: it live-shifts that same real split and adjusts some decorative
animation intensity (glow/shimmer) in those looks. No new data is read,
requested, or displayed, and nothing is gated or monetized by it.

EVERYTHING ELSE FROM THE PRIOR REVIEW (Villages directory, Beacon alliances,
Village management, moderation tooling) is unchanged in function — see the
6.5 notes for that detail if needed.
