### 2/5 — New update terrible

*2022-07-12, version 1.10.3*

The new update has made the app much worse. You can no longer easily see all the places on your list on the map. Instead it shows this useless “heat map” of other peoples spots. Terrible update! Please go back to how it was before.

### 2/5 — Love the concept

*2021-10-28, version 1.8.10*

Love to travel and love this concept. Will keep you posted

### 2/5 — Great idea but not user friendly

*2021-10-23, version 1.8.10*

I was so excited to download this app - what a great idea! But after a few minutes of trying to navigate it was just not intuitive and easy to use. Please update entirely. I’m not an app designer but it needs work. I would love to give this another go if it were redesigned.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your frank feedback. I now have some relevant answers for you: we are reworking the design at the moment and there will be a series of significant updates coming over the coming weeks, starting with a great interactive map feature. I hope to see you back on the platform soon!

### 3/5 — What’s in it for me?

*2021-08-12, version 1.8.6*

Ok, so you’re asking me to spend my time and list my favorite local jems to benefit other travelers and your cash flow. What’s in it for me?? I’m tired of apps that ride on the back of their users to deliver value for shareholders.

**Developer response:** Hi PortnoyF, really sorry you feel this way. The app is free to use - you can collect places for yourself - as a kind of digital address book for your places - or to share with friends and other members of the community. If you want, you can keep your places private, or not add any at all. We believe in sharing, as a community, but we don't impose it.

### 2/5 — Good Concept

*2021-07-24, version 1.8.5*

Interesting concept and if you are a person who likes being an early adopter, working with an app through its beta kinks and providing content into a community until it gains traction — totally hit this. Creators likely felt like this filled a gap in the app space, but to me I already use Swarm in the same way that I would potentially use this. Right now it’s limited to discovery and in my first experience, when I tried to add The Odeon in NYC to my own list and create a new Bimble for it, it bugged out. I’m going to wait until it gets a little further along.

**Developer response:** Thanks for trying Bimble and for leaving your feedback. Sorry for the kinks! You are right that it is still early days for Bimble but we are now releasing updates every few weeks, so it'll keep getting better! Hope to see you on the app again down the line : )

### 3/5 — New user

*2021-07-21, version 1.8.5*

I just loaded the App and think it’s a great idea so I gave it just three stars so far- the first thing I did was try to find Bimbles local to my area. It does not look like I can search by geography (country, state/province, city). Seems like that should be a primary function for trip planning. Am I missing how to do that?

**Developer response:** Hi!
thanks for leaving your feedback. I'm so pleased you're into the idea of Bimble : )
Sorry you didn't find local Bimbles - if you click on the little magnifying glass top right of the Discover screen and type in the name of your city, that should return local results. We're pretty new, so no guarantees that we have content in your neighborhood yet! Please add the places you love to get the ball rolling!
We'll be building better map based search functionalities soon, so it'll be easier to navigate, filter and find great little places.
Happy bimbling!

### 1/5 — Love the idea but not usable

*2021-04-21, version 1.8.2*

No way to browse places near you. There’s a search where you can enter a zip code but nothing comes up. I think it’s just too early to use this app. Hopefully I’ll see another ad for it in a few years when it’s more populated

### 2/5 — Wanted this to be good but it’s just not

*2021-04-21, version 1.8.2*

Call me crazy but I hate apps where you actually have to read the instructions. I assume that in 2021 everything built is intuitive and if it’s not then it’s um... stupid? Lol I understand that’s clearly me projecting after not bother to read how to work it but when it came to the part that said typed your location I did and I think the app is too small/west coast for now. It suggests great lil spots all around NoCal. But when it came time to suggest things in Bushwhick Brooklyn there were none. It could only find Williamsburg in Brooklyn (laameee) and even then it suggested a school as a fun hang place lolol. Which I think sounds like a trashcan of a time is hanging out at or around an elementary school.
I give 1 star cause I like where there beads are at and the second star because 1 star felt too mean!

**Developer response:** Hi Madison
Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. Bimble is based in the UK but a good 40% of our users are in the US. It’s a new app launched just before lockdown (2020 dealt us a pretty challenging blow!) so a lot of what you are describing here is related to this. But above all else, Bimble is an app for keeping, organising and sharing your own places. Every place on Bimble is there because it means something to someone and that includes the school in Brooklyn. Bimbles are curated lists of places seen through the eyes and perspective of the person creating the Bimble. It doesn’t say why the user has added the school - so it’s not being presented to you as fun. I’m sorry that didn't come across. Over time, we will also become a discovery app but it is early days for Bimble still and it’s going to take time to get great coverage in all the neighbourhoods all over the world (like Bushwick for example). We’ll get there, but we’re not there yet. Bimble is essentially the tool you can use to keep track of places and support them. Our content is entirely user generated. So if there are some great little places in Bushwick you’d like to share, we’d love to see you champion them on the app. And as word spreads about Bimble, others will join in too. Perhaps it is too early days for you, which I’m sorry to hear. Maybe it’s worth giving us another chance at some point down the line.

### 2/5 — Not there yet

*2021-04-03, version 1.8.2*

Was hoping to use for trip planning but it isn’t populated enough to be helpful like Pinterest used to be.

### 2/5 — Hard to navigate

*2021-02-06, version 1.8.1*

Good intention but its ui/ux is not great

### 3/5 — Great UI and concept. Very overwhelming.

*2021-02-01, version 1.8*

Amazing app, but navigation of it could be improved.
Adding your own places is so easy, as is viewing other features people’s places.
Not sure if overwhelming is a good word, but as it stands, the only way to see all places in a specific area is to search every permutation of the name of places after you select an area. I can’t find what I don’t know, and it looks like one aim of this app is to discover places. Let’s maybe make it easier to do that.
Here’s a suggestion: allow the user to pick a location, then provide either all the places/bimbles available on my map/list, or even sort it by category.

**Developer response:** Hi Caleb, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us your feedback. It's super useful for us, as a startup, to hear from you.
I'm glad you find adding places works well - we are just a year old and all the places on Bimble are added by the community, so our primary focus has been to encourage people to save and share the great little places they love. As content has grown, we've created some city-focused pages but we absolutely will be developing our map-based functionalities to facilitate discovery. I like your suggestion of the category filter here too. Stay with us and I hope and believe you'll enjoy Bimble more and more : ) The next big set of features that are coming will be making Bimble more social.
You can always drop us an email at hello@bimble.com if you have any questions or other feedback. thanks again, Julia
Julia

### 1/5 — Not ready for prime time

*2021-01-04, version 1.8*

This app is kind of a mess. Many restaurants have duplicate (in one case, triplicate) listings. It seems anyone can add anything and it won’t check to see if it’s already in the database. There’s no way to report duplicates, either, so it just becomes a mess. Meh.

The discovery function is terrible. You can’t just pull up a map or have it look for places near you. It just gives you a list of Bimbles that might be 3,000 miles away. It doesn’t even have location data.

Meh. Not the worst idea but oretty useless as it stands.

**Developer response:** Hi Albert, I've just seen your review. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and I'm sorry that you've had some issues with Bimble. We're a very small team, less than a year old and improving every week.

Good news: we're about to release an update which will iron out the duplication problem. We pull place information from the internet when you add a new place to Bimble and sometimes places are registered elsewhere more than once! We're just finishing reviewing the code which will merge these places at our end and fix the issue. It was a gnarly little problem to solve but it's now done and we're just testing : )

As far as Discovery goes, we have a "near me" map function in the pipeline. In the meantime, you can easily click on the magnifying glass at the top of the Discovery screen and search for whatever you fancy. Hope this helps : )

Feel free to email me at julia@bimble.com if you have any other questions or thoughts.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Can't even sign up

*2023-10-01*

Tried 3 different ways to sign up. All failed. Said my email was the wrong format or "something went wrong" when creating a password

### 1/5 — Create profile UI not working

*2021-11-29, version 1.8.12*

Whenever I click on join bimble to create profile, UI doesnt work to enter any information. Clicks dont work. I cant enter any information. Weird, basic step doesnt work- not sure if its a legit app.

**Developer response:** Hi, we have been trying to get to the bottom of this issue which was affecting a small number of users and we have now understood that there is an incompatibility with a specific iphone setting for a certain iOS version. I was told by our developers today that they have now fixed it, so it will come in our next update, next week. I'm sorry it took so long!

### 1/5 — Tele verification is annoying anyway

*2021-10-31, version 1.8.10*

Telephone verification code won’t send

### 1/5 — Messy app, no global content

*2021-10-20, version 1.8.10*

I was hoping to be able to move my 30 or so lists with hundreds of places from Google Maps to Bimble but there seems to be mostly UK content. Not much in the rest of Europe or North America outside of NYC, or if there is, the discovery mechanism is poor. I don’t care who makes a list, I care about their profile and taste, and areas where they are experts. Most lists are super generic and don’t seem to go beyond popular spots with nothing special at all. There’s no audience so I’m not going to bother.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for your useful feedback. I am circling back now as we are getting ready to release a big update in February which will make it simple and quick for you to find the places people are saving near you and then you can follow the creators you enjoy and keep up to date with profiles that are relevant to you. I hope this will answer your main concerns effectively!

### 1/5 — Conceptually Cool, execution poor

*2021-10-14, version 1.8.10*

The app idea is pretty awesome. Pretty disappointing that after downloading none of your text fields to join work. Not very useful if you can register. Bug fixes needed.

**Developer response:** Hi, Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention, it seems to be a new bug happening on certain devices or iOS versions. We have had 3 reports over the last few days on this. If you could email me (julia@bimble.com) to say which phone and which iOS version you are using, that would be enormously helpful. Then I will be able to let you know as soon as it is fixed.

### 1/5 — Why do you need my phone number?

*2021-10-11, version 1.8.9*

And why don’t you accept it when I enter it? I understand that as a free app you need to monetize somehow, but don’t be so pushy/obvious about it. I like an app that allows to create an account with a user name and password. You ask for the email, okay, and the phone number. Since I really wanted to see the app, I have in and typed in a phone number. The app says: “Please enter a valid phone number in format like +447911123456” but your own input field formats it as +1 (791) 123-4567, which is inconsistent. And then the app does not accept my input. And so I will never get to use the app until you, perhaps, make the phone number optional or accept my input.

### 1/5 — Just bougie crap

*2021-10-07, version 1.8.9*

This app lacks diversity and is only for a certain type of place. thought it might be cool to find cute hole-in-the-walls and things to do, but it’s 99% dumb overpriced and/or trendy gentrifying businesses.

### 1/5 — it’s eh if you don’t live in a major city

*2021-09-10, version 1.8.7*

I understand it may be a young app but there’s literally no places in my city, which is surprising considering it’s a semi-major city. They shove all these different international and cross country places in your face on the homepage and the only way to find anything in your town is to search for it, but it’s hidden on another page. Honestly the app developers need to do a better job of letter you explore around you in your own town, instead of going “Hey look at this cool cafe in Berlin” 20 times over on the first page. It talked about “local businesses” and something something “community”, but it’s the complete opposite.

TLDR: don’t get the app unless you’re in a major city, even then you’ll get bombarded by places thousands of miles away

**Developer response:** Hi T'rav, thanks for leaving your thoughts. As you so rightly say, we are a young app - launched at the start of lockdown. We are also a user generated content app, for collecting and saving your places, so there are only places listed in your area if you, or others in the local community, share them. As content builds, we are personalising the feed to people's locations, but that only works if Bimblers contribute with the great little places they love : )

### 1/5 — Price???

*2021-07-20, version 1.8.5*

I accidentally pushed get and app told me it was processing my purchase. ????? Nowhere can I find the cost. How can o get out of this. I haven’t even looked at the app

### 1/5 — Messy

*2021-04-22, version 1.8.2*

App is hard to navigate. It’s all over the place. Random cities even if you put your location it doesn’t help.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great concept with a cool UI

*2021-06-20, version 1.8.3*

Looking forward to seeing Bimble spread in my city!

**Developer response:** Thanks Felix_MK_27 ! We're seeing more and more pick up in the US, so hopefully it'll soon be busy in your city : )

### 5/5 — What a great find!

*2021-04-29, version 1.8.2*

Super helpful app. What a great concept. My girlfriend and I love to travel, and have enjoyed putting together Bimbles to save the places we enjoyed most during our trips. Love checking out other peoples Bimbles as well, so we can discover cool new places in our area and places we visit.

**Developer response:** So glad you are enjoying Bimble and finding it useful. We have lots of plans for the coming months, so hopefully you'll like it more and more!

### 5/5 — Lots of potential!

*2021-04-28, version 1.8.2*

This app is clearly new, but as a traveler and someone who loves to share recommendations, I think that it’s a gold mine. I hope that a follow feature arrives soon so I can better keep track of people & lists.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for your feedback. So happy you are enjoying Bimble - and very pleased to say that Followers is on its way :)

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2021-04-27, version 1.8.2*

Such a great concept for an app! I’m a realtor and am currently using Bimble to put together lists of great local places to share with buyers looking to get to know the area. Also love using it to keep note of new places I want to try!

**Developer response:** Love to hear that, Nina! Thanks so much for leaving your feedback. It's fantastic to see all the different ways people are adopting Bimble. As an app for collecting and sharing great little places, it's ideal for creating area guides for prospective buyers. Let us know if we can help with anything at our end (hello@bimble.com).

### 5/5 — What a find!

*2021-04-27, version 1.8.2*

I’m so happy to have stumbled upon Bimble. I’m a big traveler and collector of places I love / places to try and this app is such a better solution than the email chains and notepads that usually house my lists. I’m also finding it to be a great way to organize the many future trips I’ve planned daydreaming during the pandemic.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for taking the time to tell us you are enjoying Bimble! It makes everything worthwhile, when we hear this kind of positive feedback.
You're totally right - we even considered the strap-line "a place for your places, at last" when we were building Bimble: a bit of a tongue-twister but it expresses what you're talking about : )

### 5/5 — Finally, an app to save all my places!

*2021-04-23, version 1.8.2*

As someone who loves to support small businesses and go out to eat, I’m always asked to share recommendations with friends. Bimble has made it so easy for me to curate complete lists of all of my favor spots by area and even interest, and easily share them with friends, family, business associates, etc. I love the ease with which the app allows you to add places that might not already be listed, create Bimble lists, upload photos, add personalized tips/recommendations and discover amazing places other people have shared. I’ve even started Bimbles of new places I want to remember to try. An all around great tool, it’s refreshing to see an app dedicated to sharing the places and businesses we love, so that we can experience areas as locals do. I’m a big fan and look forward to seeing how Bimble evolves as the community grows!

**Developer response:** Thanks so much, Katrina! Really happy you enjoy using Bimble to collect, save and share the places you love - if we all work together, as a community, to celebrate those great little places, we will really be helping them to thrive post-covid. Really valuable for keeping our neighbourhoods vibrant and interesting!

### 5/5 — Works fantastic!

*2020-04-21, version 1.3.2*

I initially downloaded the app after seeing it on a YouTube video and thought it would be great for an upcoming vacation (that will probably be delayed ☹️) . But continuing to look is a great distraction from all that’s going on in the world. I encountered an issue with the app not working for me. I was in contact with the developer, who was great from the beginning. Trying to walk me through it until lastly suggesting I update the version of software I was using with my iPhone. I was using 13.1 rather than the newest update. BAM!! It worked!! And it’s phenomenal! I can’t wait to actually be able to take my vacation and use it while I’m there! Thank you Julie for being so patient and helpful while helping me figure it out. It’s great to be able to take some time and forget about the Coronavirus for a little while and dream of a vacation...whenever it may happen! You’re very thoughtful, and my colleagues will be very surprised and appreciative!

### 4/5 — Cool app

*2020-04-16, version 1.3.2*

This is a cool app! I wish there was a follow feature. I really like the advice of a travel company and I would love to follow them to get updates on new gems and places to see!

**Developer response:** Hi Mairvmurph, Thanks for the review. We're really glad you like Bimble!
We're new and building features all the time. Definitely planning on releasing a follow feature just as soon as we can. Have you saved any places of your own? It's so great when everyone is sharing their insider knowledge with other members of the community!

### 3/5 — Good

*2023-09-20*

When it was actually working, it was à fantastic app. I would have given 5 stars. It’s no longer working & there’s no app support to contact.

### 3/5 — Needs A Good Map

*2022-04-03, version 1.9.2*

The concept of this app is really strong and the social aspect has great potential but I found it very hard to navigate spatially through the lists. For example if you look at all the vintage stores in London listed by people on Bimble you have not clue where they are in the city unless you save them and check each one at a time. It would be really useful to integrate the lists on a map so you can see which spots are in your area. You would gave the upset hand if you did this. For example right now if you were let’s say at the barbican for a morning event and wanted to get lunch afterwards you would check for lunch spots on yelp or google maps. Neither are curated options. If Bimble were to integrate the map into the app you would provide users with really well curated lists based on your very specific location. Discovery is always fun too though but feels less useful.

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks so much for your review. Good news, we have now released the Bimble map! Great minds..... I hope you enjoy it!
