## What is Bindery Bench?

Bindery Bench is the private, offline workshop assistant built for hand bookbinders.

Move from a finished text block to a checked case plan, imposed print file, sewing template, and material budget without sending the book or its measurements to a server.

CASE FIT ASSISTANT

• Choose a square-back, Bradel, or rounded case
• Account for board, covering, and spine materials
• Start from an editable hinge range and visible spine-width method
• Separate board setback from hinge gap
• Follow a four-step dry-fit before cutting valuable stock
• Work in millimeters or inches without changing physical dimensions

OFFLINE PDF IMPOSITION

• Import a sequential PDF from Files
• Choose one to eight folded sheets per signature
• Use the source page size, A5, Half Letter, or a custom finished size
• Add blank pages deliberately and preview the first sheet front and back
• Export a duplex test and print-ready imposed PDF
• Keep every source page on the device

SEWING PLANNER

• Plan unsupported, French-link, tape, Coptic, or pamphlet sewing
• See stitch- and support-specific punching positions
• Estimate a practical thread range
• Export a true-size PDF template with head, tail, fold, and calibration marks

WORKSHOP PREFLIGHT

• Check paper and board grain, balanced moisture, adhesive tests, dry-fit, print scale, and duplex setup
• Build a material list with contextual substitution notes
• Calculate allocated project cost, package cash outlay, and waste locally
• Save the case, signature, sewing, checklist, and cost plan together

No account. No subscription. No advertising, analytics, tracking, or network connection. Imported PDFs are processed locally and are not stored in saved projects.

Binding structures and materials vary. Recommendations are transparent, editable starting ranges; the app keeps the final judgment at the bench.
