Finches identified as Wild Turkeys, Mexican Duck (in NE Ohio) etc… I do like posting the inaccurate images and descriptions to my friends because the misidentification is so wildly inaccurate, we get a good laugh about it. There’s no real guide to what you are doing or how to get the functions it claims to have to work. The app is clumsy, hard to use, not intuitive, has little documentation and what is there is in the most horrible broken English I have seen. The “help” is in FAQs only, and are unreadable and incomprehensible. Just getting the camera to do basic functions is a chore, but if you do manage to capture images out of it, go buy yourself a lottery ticket because it’s that same dumb luck to get anything out of the app. Navigating the app just to try to find information is a nightmare. Also XP, on cold mornings the camera lens fogs up. And mounting the feeder on a wall means that the roof can’t be opened because the latch becomes inaccessible. I got the smart bird feeder as a gift. The app just doesn’t work as it’s meant to. Less than 24 hours and already can’t turn the motion detection on. Great camera, but the tech side of things needs ALOT of improvement. It is a privacy dumpster fire. The privacy policy and service agreement are half baked boilerplate, with typos like “Please enter the company name” left in. Not joking. You are forced to accept vague terms that allow Guangdong Pine Lake to collect your location, video, mic, usage data, and more, then change the rules anytime without asking. Even worse, you cannot save captured bird images to your photo library unless you jump through ridiculous hoops. Cloud AI recognition? Cool idea. Terrible execution. This app has a 2.2 rating for a reason. Until they clean up the TOS, clarify where your data goes, and let users control their own footage, this is glorified spyware wrapped in birdseed. ### 3/5 — App is okay *2025-06-20, version 3.0.0* The app does what it says but not good. No clue what Collection is for, I assumed birds would go there but they don’t. It does auto record birds but you have to hunt for the video which is frustrating and it’s never very long. ### 2/5 — Camera constantly goes offline *2025-06-18, version 3.0.0* The nest box itself is great! The idea of the camera is fantastic, unfortunately the reliability of the camera is suboptimal!! The camera constantly goes offline even with a strong WiFi signal. In order to get it back online you have to reset the device (a multiple step process) and when the device happens to stay online for a few minutes.. the motion detection alert function doesn’t reliably send notifications. Again suboptimal! The camera has been updated, have tried multiple cords, etc with no resolution. If the company can provide a reliable camera and/or long term solution for this issue this camera/box combo would be an easy 5 star product. ### 1/5 — Horrible *2025-06-17, version 3.0.0* This app is horrible. It never connects. I made the absolute WORST mistake by accidentally clicking off motion detection and now it won’t ever turn back on. It keeps telling me operation failed. So the only time I can see through my video feed is when I am looking at it live which NEVER works. It always says my feed is offline. So now I have a bird feeder that doesn’t pick up birds and I can’t even look on the video feed live. I received this as a Mother’s Day gift as I love birds and it worked okay until I hit the motion detection button off by mistake and now I can’t ever turn it back on. I just use it as a regular bird feeder. On the off chance that you DO get a notification a bird has arrived, half the time you click to see it, the app goes live…and no birds are there. It’s not intuitive, not user friendly, and not effective. I got this as a gift and to be honest, I hate it. I’m certain the sole purpose of those device was data harvesting from my phone. ### 1/5 — Worst Update *2026-07-07, version 4.0.0* July 8 2026 if you bought the camera feeder, return it immediately! This has to be the worst App ever! You used to be able to just tap on the image and see a live feed of the birds eating. Now you have to go through three steps and by the time you get to the camera, the bird is already gone! Extremely disappointing, and not worth it! This is terrible, please fix it ASAP. My iPhone is set up for notifications and the app needs to be set up in three different locations, and even with everything set up the notifications still do not work. The app has been glitchy since day 1. Camera could not be set up with reconfiguring my home WiFi to 2.4ghz and using an extremely simple password. Then camera kept disconnecting from app. Now camera won’t turn on at all and I’ve contacted support through the app only to receive 11 identical responses: “Dear customer. Please leave a message. We are collecting all the information and will reply to you within 24 hours.” Obviously no support is going to arrive! Writing off this little adventure - tossing the camera and uninstalling the app. Save your money. Worked for about a week and now won't connect to wifi. Weak wifi on camera. I have another feeder with camera from another company that has been great for two years. Picks up wifi brilliantly. This app makes you reel through the whole day of feeding to find the one bird you are interested in with no snap shot function. The camera feed to initially even view the LIVE video stream is beyond slow and lags a few seconds behind. It takes almost a minute for the feed to load…. Garbage. Sure it goes offline every now and then, but usually exiting the app, waiting a little, and going back in gets it working again. People have to realize this is dependent on your network. Also, keep in mind not all wifi enabled devices work 100% perfectly all the time. All in all, it works, great pictures and videos, and I get to see my feathered friends whenever I want. I just love it. Make sure you change your notification settings: select Me from the bottom, message center, gear icon, system notification, and not recurring, to select how much time in between notifications (last picture), or your phone battery will drain with all the notifications from the frequent visitors. Oh and this says to keep within 50ft of your house, but we have ours 100ft away and the signal strength is still great, just depends on your network. ### 5/5 — Good experience *2024-07-13, version 2.0.0* It’s very nice to have such a great bird feeder in my backyard.
