I registered while traveling in Spain with a Chinese passport. Bird never asked for identity verification, never warned me that my passport might not be supported, and instead immediately encouraged me to add money, making it look like I was ready to ride. Only AFTER I paid and scanned a scooter did the app suddenly request identity verification. When I selected China as my nationality and tried to use my Chinese passport, the process became completely stuck with no option to continue. This is absolutely outrageous. If Chinese passport holders cannot complete verification, Bird must disclose that BEFORE accepting payment—not after taking users’ money. The whole experience feels like an absolute scam: take the money first, then reveal that the customer cannot use the service. Terrible app, misleading payment process, and completely unacceptable treatment of international travelers. Fix the verification system and refund every affected customer.
