### 3/5 — Ludicrously expensive

*2026-09-07*

$5.99 per WEEK for an alarm app. What are you smoking. $24 per month… that’s more than the monthly subscription for Claude, which can borderline do my entire job for me. And what you get is bird trivia. Anyone who pays this is financially irresponsible and possibly insane. I like the concept but whoever set the pricing should take a deep breath, check into a mental ward for a month or two, then come back and change it to something reasonable.

### 3/5 — Want to like it

*2026-08-27*

This app is cute but I’m sad they moved the guess the bird feature behind a paywall when it use to be free. It also does not reliably go off when it should, and has a bug that causes it to go off at midnight when my battery is low. I want to like it but I’m not sure I can use it without these fixes!

### 3/5 — Great app with some minor fixes

*2026-07-29*

Love the idea of this app as someone who is trying to improve my bird song knowledge. My main issue/constructive feedback is that with the guessing feature, while it plays the birds in your region if you’ve selected that setting, the options to select when guessing are not and so it’s easy to guess the correct answer. Eg I have it set to British birds and this morning was woken up to a European goldfinch (great!) but this correct answer was given between American Robin and another US species, therefore I didn’t have to think too much to guess the correct choice. If this is fixed I’d love the app more! Although cheaper subscription would be awesome, as someone who works in conservation I sadly don’t have this budget to spare on an alarm. Otherwise I love this app!

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We've just fixed that, and there's also a new challenge for advanced birders where you need to type the bird's name. Give it a try and let us know what you think.

### 3/5 — Need to be able to change the region

*2026-07-24*

It asked if I wanted my region, and I said yes, but the very first bird not in my region. I looked at the list of birds that they had for my region, and I’ve never heard of any of them. There seems to be no setting set up so that you can select a region like the southeast. That is a bug that needs fixing.

**Developer response:** Hi Sandra! You can now select your region when editing your alarm. Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

### 1/5 — Free trial not free

*2026-07-21*

App says you can sign up for a free trial (no payment now) but then charges you when you confirm. To be allowed to guess the bird song is £5/ week or £50/ year. Absolutely ridiculous amount.

### 1/5 — Ridiculously expensive

*2026-07-18*

I suppose there are some ppl who can afford 50£/year for bird alarms they probably are not the same people actually stopping the devastation of ecosystems birds enjoy.

### 1/5 — Charged for account

*2026-07-15, version 2.08*

Was told there was a 7 day trial period but I was them charged for the annual subscription for 50$

### 1/5 — Alarms continue after deleting the app

*2026-07-14, version 2.08*

I deleted the app weeks ago but there is still alarms going off on random days at random times. How can I fix this?

### 1/5 — Not free

*2026-07-14, version 2.08*

Won’t get
You
Past
Initial screen without
Turning in payment info. Delete

### 1/5 — No available free version

*2026-07-09*

I’ve seen the ad on instagram. Very happily I downloaded the app, immediately went through a quiz that wasted my time just to say that I could have a 80% off deal for a yearly cost!! 🫩I don’t pay for apps and I wanted it to be free. It’s a really good idea for an app but I hate subscriptions, I’d pay a one time fee tho, if it’s understandably priced ofc, say like 25$ one time pay and I’m golden. I wish they would say whether you have to pay for the app or not to use it… y you always lyiiiinnnn 🕺🏼🙄

### 1/5 — Why no free tier?

*2026-07-09, version 2.07*

Guys, it’s a lovely idea but I’m not signing up to a subscription just to try it. I’d rather just vibecode it myself

### 1/5 — Begs you to pay $30 for a bird alarm app lol. Zero functionality if you don't pay

*2026-07-06, version 2.07*

Bad

### 2/5 — Weird Alarm

*2026-07-02*

I deleted this app because it was not working how I thought it would and I didn't enjoy it. Even though I deleted the app probably a month ago the alarm continues to go off on my phone and there is no way for me to get it to stop. Very strange

### 1/5 — No free option

*2026-07-02, version 2.06*

It says there is a basic free option multiple times. I couldn’t get to it. It wanted me to force me to sign up for a subscription.

### 1/5 — Nice idea but doesn’t work

*2026-07-01*

Alarm goes off ok but when you tap on “guess which bird” it goes back to the “set up alarm”
Option again - EVERY time

### 2/5 — App is awesome / Pricing is unreasonable

*2026-06-30, version 2.06*

I love the concept and the app. But $4.99/week or $50 for a year is just wildly unreasonable for a glorified alarm. I would pay $20 for a lifetime license. Mayyyyybe $9.99/year.

### 2/5 — Same bird everyday?

*2026-06-23, version 2.06*

This could be cool, but it doesn’t actually prompt me to guess the bird. It just shows the American Goldfinch… for the 3rd day in a row.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t alarm when set

*2026-06-22*

Great idea but needs to actually function. Doesn’t alarm at the set time! Disappointed and glad it’s not the only alarm I had set! Also wild that you can only have 1 daily wake up alarm unless you subscribe to the paid version. Don’t bother trying to learn birds or wake up with this app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Continues to charge after cancellation

*2026-08-13, version 2.11*

I cancelled my subscription but the app continues to charge the weekly fee, even though it shows I have no active subscription in the app.

### 1/5 — Manipulative rating and high cost

*2026-08-11*

I downloaded the app because I was overjoyed at the concept. The app asked for a rating pretty quickly, which I declined because I hadn't actually used the app yet. The next screen is the subscription options which are frankly absurd prices for an alarm app, no matter how fun the concept. $70 for a year or $7 a *week*! Of course the weekly price is to make the yearly price look reasonable but it isn't.

### 1/5 — Relentless

*2026-08-07*

Deleted the app and the alarm still goes off… can’t get rid of it now

### 1/5 — Why offer the “basic” category if you can’t even select it?

*2026-08-06*

Don’t let it fool you, this is a PAID app. You are forced to purchase the subscription before you can even use the app. There is no free “basic” version that is available. Why would anyone spend money on something you wont even let them try first? Very predatory.

### 1/5 — Uninstalled and still goes off

*2026-08-01, version 2.09*

As the title says, I downloaded this app, but uninstalled when I realized it cost money. Now I have an invisible alarm that goes off everyday at 7. Hence my 1 star review at 7:02 on a Saturday…

### 1/5 — No free version?

*2026-07-31*

I can’t get past set up because there’s no way to decline the paid version. I didn’t even get a chance to try the free app out before it’s forcing me to buy the plus version. I set up the alarm answer all the little questions and before I could actually hit continue the pop-up thing came up for me to buy the premium version with no way to close out of it. It’s a shame, I was excited to try this to see if it would actually get me out of bed in the morning.

### 1/5 — Weekly Charge?!

*2026-07-30, version 2.09*

I was willing to pay $5 a month, and thought that’s what I was doing. Turns out this alarm will charge you WEEKLY!!! And Apple is denying a refund on any of the $20 I spent this month on an alarm. Be warned!

### 1/5 — Ridiculous

*2026-07-29, version 2.09*

Stupidly expensive. This is ridiculous to pay $50 a year for an alarm… I miss when apps could be fun and free

### 1/5 — No free option

*2026-07-28, version 2.09*

They advertise a free option but you can’t get past the subscription page.

### 1/5 — Paywall?

*2026-07-27*

App sounds good and interdicting for waking up more calming but for over $20 a month is absolutely crazy for a bird sound effect.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Been the best for me!

*2026-09-05*

This has helped me enormously with getting up in the morning! I’m ND and this is such a wonderful way to wake up. The beautiful little bird sounds are the best gentle AND natural way to rise - miles better than tones and beeps! I could not recommend this enough for someone who finds it incredible difficult to start the day! Thank you.

### 5/5 — Amazing!!!

*2026-07-22, version 2.08*

Not only do the alarms make
My days better, they help
Me tremendously jump start my day! Thank you! Love y’all! ♥️✨♥️✨🦉🦜🕊️🐦‍🔥

### 5/5 — 10s all around

*2026-06-02*

As someone who sleeps heavy but hates jarring alarms, this is perfect! By having to choose the bird making the sound, I wake up, and the birdsongs are not harsh, making it a very pleasant way to wake up. I feel like Snow White every morning.

### 5/5 — Great app if traditional alarms give you anxiety

*2026-03-22*

I’m really loving this app. I frequently ended up silencing my old alarms immediately because I didn’t want to wake my partner, which just resulted in me oversleeping. This app sounds way more natural, and the rising noise level usually lets me hear it before he does.

The “Guess the Bird” challenge is what actually keeps me from drifting off again. I’ve tried math-based alarms in the past, but the panic of trying to solve them quickly (again, to keep things quiet for my partner) just left me stressed. Waking up to birds has lowered my morning anxiety and is such a fun way to start the day.

### 5/5 — Brighter and funnier mornings

*2026-03-12, version 1.12*

Im in love with Bird Rise! My mornings are so much more fun when I wake up ready to guess which bird is calling me by my bedside lol

### 5/5 — Best alarm

*2026-03-08*

I’ve always struggled to wake up to alarms. This app feels like it was made for me. Every morning there’s a beautiful bird song to wake up to, you can try to guess which bird it is, and there are little facts about them too. It makes waking up a lot more enjoyable.

### 5/5 — No more annoying alarms

*2026-03-07, version 1.12*

Guessing which bird is waking me up makes my mornings magical!!!!

### 5/5 — Long Live This Amazing Beautiful App

*2026-01-01, version 1.03*

Gorgeous — rightly designed for human health and happiness in the mornings.

### 5/5 — Love guessing bird song

*2025-12-31, version 1.03*

Cool idea asking to if a bird song to stop the alarm. I appreciate that it asks me if Inlike the song or not

### 5/5 — So beautiful

*2025-12-22*

Omg, this is the prettiest alarm I've ever used. I love waking up to birdsongs.
