Suspiciously so. I tested it by going on to the RSPB website and playing individual bird songs. An epic fail I’m afraid with only a few easy ones correct and most wrong. No option but to delete this app now I’m afraid - even free apps have to work! ### 2/5 — Not that good. *2023-03-31, version 1.9* App thought a Wren was a Herring Gull. But also gave me repeated Great Spotted Woodpecker and herring gull many time when they definitely weren’t around. Said a chaffinch was a blackbird, tree sparrow and nightingale! Brillant idea for an ap but needs refinement. ### 2/5 — Doesn’t appear to retain the full list *2022-05-14, version 1.9* The app is quick identifying birdsongs, listing them every couple of seconds. It adds a new song listing on screen 10 songs, but no more. I can’t see how to view any earlier songs noted, great shame. ### 3/5 — A little disappointed *2021-08-21, version 1.9* I thought this was a great app to pick up bird songs, but it seems to keep saying there are Herring Gulls and I know it’s not as I can see and hear the buzzards above me. It ID’d a pair of Peregrine Falcon as Blackbirds or Tawny Owls? Sometimes it doesn’t seem to hear what I can hear, e.g. an owl or even seagulls. If it isn’t sure, it says Herring Gull. Disappointing. ### 1/5 — Needs work. This app has identifed the bird concurrently over 2 minutes a a song thrush, herring gull and common swift. It gave the impression it was identifying with confidence to umpteen decimal places but it ‘identified’ birds which were nowhere to be seen and failed to identify such common birds as sparrows. Herring Gull and Blackbird where the favourite species that appeared and even my limited knowledge of bird song is such that I am aware that Herring Gulls do not frequent woods and forest. I already recognise many common bird songs including the Blackbird which is easily recognised but this app seemed to consider Robin song and others as the song of the Blackbird! Then with no bird sounds around it listed Woodpeckers and loads of Herring Gulls I know a few birds but none of the above were correct . Read a review and compared it with other apps. I put it on and it states black bird but i don’t think so. The only mistake it does make is a frequent identification of a HerringGull which I know can’t be right.
