What made me decide to move away from The app was realizing I use Google search to identify the birds than I do the app. 2) the UI interface is a bit clunky, not a deal breaker but can be frustrating when you’re sweaty, the middle of the woods trying to identify the same bird the photo ID got wrong 3 times in a row. With that said, I understand the app is in its infancy and everything costs money. So I’m not recommending that you shouldn’t give the app a go or support the business, but for my personal use, its not worth it. ### 1/5 — If you want a Facebook-like birding experience… *2026-05-25, version 0.0.1825* Disappointed that you have to create an account and agree to a subscription to even SEE the app and what it may or may not do. I just found it super dishonest that Birda offers a “7 Day free trial.” And immediately removes $20.56 from your account. Is this included towards my yearly if so the yearly isn’t $30 it’s $50? Since when is a “Free Trial.” Not free ? They gameified bird watching and I’m totally here for it. Also, the community is pretty chill and super helpful. The problem is that the app is buggy af and the AI identification almost never works. For some reason it flips the photos 90 degrees on their side, which makes it almost impossible for the app to identify what it’s looking at. It also does this weird thing where it kills the resolution of your photos, making them blurry and ugly. Tons of potential, but it doesn’t do the one thing it’s supposed to do.
