### 2/5 — Needs to be free with ads

*2026-05-26*

I’d play if I didn’t have to pay. Make advertisers pay, not me. Fix it and I’ll play.

**Developer response:** Hi there, thank you for leaving a comment. I understand your frustration about paying but we made the choice deliberately to make the app add free for a distraction free experience. And the cost of the app (2.49$/month) is for covering our server costs. To get a sense of what the app feels like, I added a 7-day free trial without paying so that you can see if the app is worth paying for before giving any money. Hope these give you a better view of our thought process and intentions.

### 2/5 — Subscription Required

*2026-02-03*

Note that while App says free with “in-app” purchases they actually require an annual subscription to use the app.

**Developer response:** Hi there, Thank you for leaving a comment. I understand your frustration about paying but we made that choice deliberately to make the app add free for a distraction free experience. And the cost of the app (1.66$/month) is for covering our server costs. To get a sense of what the app feels like, I added a 7-day free trial without paying so that you can see if the app is worth paying for before giving any money. Hope these give you a better view of our thought process and intentions. Best, Kazan Software

### 2/5 — Nice idea

*2026-01-28*

To me it is not yet playable. As a European, there are not even Latin names/ taxonomies available so each bird would have to be googled for their English names. Furthermore no specification of the region make a 900+ species-List unmanageable- maybe consider selections so Northern Europeans can see Northern European birds which are a task to collect, too (compare Merlin :)). Rids you from misidentifications too: my Eurasian blue tit became an African blue tit I.e.. No pictures at all don’t seem intuitive to me either. So far you need a second app like Merlin for Identification of the bird and then you track it here? Nope. Gonna use my life list on Merlin, it has everything plus social features minus the cost :)

**Developer response:** Thank you for the detailed feedback!

You are absolutely right that scientific precision matters. Latin names are actually currently in the app but your review tells us they are hidden too deep. We will work on making them much more visible in the next update.

Regarding the regions: Our goal was to create a massive 'European Collection' to challenge players to explore, but we hear you loud and clear that a 900+ list can feel unmanageable for daily local use. We are looking into adding sub-region filters to help with this.

As for the Blue Tit mix up: That is definitely frustrating. Distinguishing between closely related species is our top priority right now and it will get sharper with every update. We hope you'll keep an eye on us as we grow!

### 2/5 — Not enough functions for the Price

*2025-12-28*

I like the idea but find there’s Not enough options for it to be a good app. Would be great if you had a search bar to Look up certain birds. Also when unlocking a Bird it would be nice to learn a bit about it or at lädt have a link to Wikipedia or sonething.

**Developer response:** Hi there! Thanks for the constructive feedback.

Good news: We just released a Manual Entry feature that acts as a search bar! You can now look up and unlock specific birds by name.

Regarding the learning features: We love your idea about adding Wikipedia links or facts, but we want to make sure we implement it in a way that fits the game. Would you be open to sending us a quick email at [support@kazansoftware.com]? We’d love to discuss your ideas further and hear exactly what kind of info you'd like to see on the cards!

### 3/5 — Has potential but needs some work

*2025-12-18*

The idea of a pokédex style app for birds is so good! But, it would be so much better if there were more specific regions like the UK as one. And it would be good if it looked more like a pokédex, like not having the two sections but just a full page of all the birds in the region and the birds you have seen filling in the gaps. And, better identification. It is a bit hit and miss. It would be nicer if it was a just a checklist instead of only being able to add it to the dex if you have a clear photo. So like you could check the bird off, it would fill in the gap on the dex and then you can add notes and images etc. These are all just my opinions but as i said the concept is awesome but i think it could be even better with a few tweaks :)

**Developer response:** Hi joshyprk123!

This is honestly the best feedback I’ve received since launching! I’m the solo developer behind this, and you are totally right; it shouldn’t be 'identify or nothing.' Because of your review, I am adding a 'Manual Checklist' feature in the very next update so you can fill your collection gaps even if you don't get a perfect photo. I'm also working on merging the views into a single 'Pokédex' grid like you suggested and adding couple of filters/views. Thank you for helping me shape the app!

If you have further comments, please do let me know by emailing support@kazansoftware.com.

It makes you pay after the tutorial

### 1/5 — Дорого

*2026-06-02*

### 1/5 — Can’t even try it

*2026-05-22*

You have to pay (way too much) to even try the app. Too bad because it’s a great idea!

Soo, sadly you need to pay (a lot) of money for this game/app

### 1/5 — £30 a year

*2026-05-17*

One week free trial , £30 a year . Rip off. If the app was £2/3 then I’d of paid.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback Razreilly! Pricing is always a balancing act and we appreciate knowing what feels right for our users. We will take your input into consideration in the future updates.

### 1/5 — Paywall

*2026-01-19*

This is the dumbest app to have behind a paywall, any amount is overpriced for essentially what is a list. It doesn't even break down into eco zones , just north america and europe

Just download iNatralist instead

**Developer response:** Hi there,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Our app is designed with a completely different goal than other identification apps: it is a Collection Game. We built it for people who want to complete a set of birds in their region rather than just identifying birds. We love to collect and get the satisfaction of completing a collection, and we love birds and bird watching. Hence, we wanted to combine these two ideas for people alike.

Regarding the regions: We intentionally include the full list for North America/Europe rather than small eco-zones. We want your collection to grow with you when you travel or go on holiday, rather than restricting you to just the birds in your vicinity. This way, we hoped that people would seek to travel more for seeing different bird species.

The subscription ($1.66/month) covers the cost of our server costs and keeps the game ad-free. We offer the 7-day free trial specifically so you can see if this 'Game' format is right for you before paying.

Best,
Kazan Software

### 1/5 — It’s paid. Don’t bother downloading.

*2025-12-28*

The app requires a subscription. Not worth it, I suggest you research and log birds yourself for free.

### 1/5 — Very limited features

*2025-12-18*

App is very poorly put together and doesn’t work properly

**Developer response:** Hi a12678!

I'm the solo developer building this and I'm really sorry to hear the app failed you. I test everything myself, but sometimes bugs slip through on different devices. Could you please email me at support@kazansoftware.com with what happened? I want to fix this immediately for you. I'd also love to offer you a full refund.

### 2/5 — Расстроило

*2026-05-27*

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fun casual birding game

*2026-06-11*

This app is fun and easy to use. I’m just casually getting into birding and I like how simple the app is. You do get a free trail and it’s a paid subscription after so that might be a turn off for some, but I’d rather not have ads and popups all the time.

I do have one suggestion though. It’d be nice to select the photo of the bird you’d want to keep if you end up taking multiple photos of them.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for the kind words and the thoughtful review! 🐦 I'm really glad the app feels simple and fun. That's exactly what I'm going for, especially for folks just getting into birding. And I appreciate you understanding the ad-free, subscription approach; keeping the experience clean and distraction-free is important to me.

Your suggestion is a great one, being able to pick your favourite shot when you've taken several photos of the same bird makes a lot of sense. I've added it to my list and will look at building it into a future update. Thanks again for taking the time to share this! 🙌

### 5/5 — Great bird identification game!

*2026-02-27*

Love the ability to identify the birds and store them in the app.

**Developer response:** Hi there, thank you for leaving a comment and I'm glad that you are enjoying the game! Have fun birding and do let me know if we can do anything better! Best, Kazan Software

### 5/5 — Birdwatching Made Fun and Addictive

*2026-01-26*

Didn’t expect a bird app to actually change how often I go outside, but here we are. I’ve been birdwatching for a while now, and finding the motivation to go out can feel hard sometimes. Collecting birds like pokemon makes each sighting feel like a small win. It’s super easy to get into, whether you’re an experienced birder or a beginner.

**Developer response:** I love hearing this! Sometimes we all need a little nudge to get out the door, and I'm thrilled Birder is doing that for you. It’s awesome that you're racking up those 'small wins' with your collection. Thanks for the amazing feedback!

### 5/5 — Best Bird Finder!

*2026-01-23*

I have a toddler who’s very interested in birds. And as a new mom who appreciates calm activities, this app has helped us spend more quality time together in nature. It turned our walks into something we share and enjoy. I guess I’m a mom and a birdwatcher now.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for this beautiful review! We are thrilled to hear that the app has helped you and your toddler connect with nature. Turning walks into shared adventures is exactly what we hoped to achieve. Welcome to the birdwatching community. We’re so happy to have you both!

### 5/5 — Makes bird watching addictive

*2025-12-21*

I have been using this app for two weeks now. Among all the bird identifier apps, I really liked this concept of collecting bird cards. It motivates me to go outdoors more. As a beginner bird watcher, I also appreciate the presentation. It’s clear and approachable without being overwhelming. If this is just the initial version, I’m excited to see what updates they’ll come up with.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much! Reading this really made my day.

I'm thrilled to hear that the 'card collection' concept is actually getting you outdoors. That was exactly our goal when designing the game loop! We wanted to make birding feel like a treasure hunt rather than a biology class, so it means a lot to hear that the 'beginner-friendly' approach is working for you.

And yes, this is just the beginning! We have some big updates coming soon (like the new Manual Entry/Search feature) to help you build your deck even faster. Thanks for the support!

Best,
Kazan Software

### 5/5 — Fun like pokemon go

*2025-12-19*

This app made bird watching fun like collecting birds for pokedex. Thank you for helping me get out more and connecting with my childhood.

**Developer response:** Thank you! That is exactly why I built this app; to bring that childhood magic of collecting into the real world. I'm so glad it's helping you get outside and explore. Happy collecting!

Best,
Kazan Software

### 4/5 — Good but some extra features

*2026-05-17*

Enjoying the app so far, would be great to add some extra features such as audio of bird calls on each info page and some facts

**Developer response:** Really glad you're enjoying it! Bird calls and more detailed facts are great suggestions. We have some exciting features in the pipeline that we think you'll love. Stay tuned! 🐦

### 4/5 — Missing birds

*2026-03-16*

So far so good; but a few common bird species missing so far!!

**Developer response:** Hi and thank you for leaving a comment! I'm glad that you are enjoying the experience! I'm sorry to hear that some bird species are missing :(. I would be very happy to resolve that issue right away so that the experience is better! Do you mind reaching out to support@kazansoftware.com so that we can keep the conversation going and I can pinpoint the problem from your input about the specific bird species? Best, Kazan Software

### 3/5 — Looks good but requires subscription

*2026-05-17*

I do appreciate how there is a free trial but if it is for server cost for an ad-free experience, I think it would be even better for it to be an option- like perhaps we can have a free version with ads for people who don’t want to or can’t afford to pay the subscription. Just a suggestion and I may be asking for a lot but it would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for the kind words and thoughtful suggestion! We really appreciate you taking the time to share this.

An ad-supported free tier is something we've thought about - the challenge is that our server costs make it difficult to sustain without a subscription model. That said, your feedback is genuinely helpful as we think about how to make the app more accessible.

We'll keep this in mind as we plan future updates. Thanks again for the support!

### 3/5 — Price

*2026-04-17*

The app says $19.99- I downloaded it and in the app it says $29.99.

**Developer response:** EDIT: Hi Mkkre, I just released the new version and updated the incorrectly represented price. Sorry again for the confusion.

Hi Mkkre, I'm sorry that you faced this discrepancy! Apparently, I forgot to update the description of the app after the price change we had due to increased server costs. It was an honest mistake and I will update the description right away with the new 1.0.5 version once that is released. Again, I'm sorry for this and thank you for letting me know about this issue.
