## What is Birder?

Birder is a collecting game played in the real world. The birds are already out there, on your street, in the park, along the trail.
Your goal is simple: find them all, hatch every egg in your region, and complete your deck!

Every bird species starts as a locked card. To reveal and collect the card, you have to find the bird in the real world. Whether you are walking to work or exploring a new city, you are already playing the game!

You have two ways to unlock a bird:
• Snap a photo and Birder identifies it for you
• Manually log species you recognize yourself

The more you look, the more you see. A quick errand becomes a chance to find something new. Places you walked past a hundred times might have the treasure!

Game Features:
• Build Your Collection: Start with a clutch of eggs and hatch them open one by one. Watch your gallery fill up as you unlock birds, building a unique deck of your finds.
• Capture & Log: Unlock new birds instantly using the camera, or manually check off species you identify to keep your collection growing.
• Keep Streak: Spot at least one bird a week to grow your streak. Miss a week? Your freeze quietly catches it. Once...
• Regional Decks: Roam every region. Every location, from North America to Europe or Oceania, has its own unique set to complete. Master your home region, then conquer other regions when travelling.
• Track Your Stats: See exactly how many birds are left to find to reach 100% completion in your region.

Birder is a subscription-based app. All features require a paid subscription.

Birder Yearly:
• Gives you unlimited bird identifications for $29.99/year

Subscriptions are auto-renewed.

These prices are in US Dollars (USD). Pricing in other currencies and countries may vary and actual charges may be converted to your local currency depending on the country of residence.

### 2/5 — Cost

*2026-09-27*

Love the idea but another subscription is just unrealistic for most people. Hope a free version comes out eventually.

### 1/5 — 0 stars

*2026-06-19*

It makes you pay after the tutorial

**Developer response:** Hi there, thank you for leaving a comment. I understand your frustration about paying but we made the choice deliberately to make the app add free for a distraction free experience. And the cost of the app (2.49$/month) is for covering our server costs. To get a sense of what the app feels like, I added a 7-day free trial without paying so that you can see if the app is worth paying for before giving any money. Hope these give you a better view of our thought process and intentions.

### 5/5 — Fun casual birding game

*2026-06-11*

This app is fun and easy to use. I’m just casually getting into birding and I like how simple the app is. You do get a free trail and it’s a paid subscription after so that might be a turn off for some, but I’d rather not have ads and popups all the time.

I do have one suggestion though. It’d be nice to select the photo of the bird you’d want to keep if you end up taking multiple photos of them.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for the kind words and the thoughtful review! 🐦 I'm really glad the app feels simple and fun. That's exactly what I'm going for, especially for folks just getting into birding. And I appreciate you understanding the ad-free, subscription approach; keeping the experience clean and distraction-free is important to me.

Your suggestion is a great one, being able to pick your favourite shot when you've taken several photos of the same bird makes a lot of sense. I've added it to my list and will look at building it into a future update. Thanks again for taking the time to share this! 🙌

### 1/5 — Дорого

*2026-06-02*

### 2/5 — Needs to be free with ads

*2026-05-26*

I’d play if I didn’t have to pay. Make advertisers pay, not me. Fix it and I’ll play.

**Developer response:** Hi there, thank you for leaving a comment. ### 1/5 — Can’t even try it

*2026-05-22*

You have to pay (way too much) to even try the app. Too bad because it’s a great idea!

### 1/5 — Subscription required :(

Soo, sadly you need to pay (a lot) of money for this game/app

### 4/5 — Good but some extra features

*2026-05-17*

Enjoying the app so far, would be great to add some extra features such as audio of bird calls on each info page and some facts

**Developer response:** Really glad you're enjoying it! Bird calls and more detailed facts are great suggestions. We have some exciting features in the pipeline that we think you'll love. Stay tuned! 🐦

### 1/5 — £30 a year

*2026-05-17*

One week free trial , £30 a year . Rip off. If the app was £2/3 then I’d of paid.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback Razreilly! Pricing is always a balancing act and we appreciate knowing what feels right for our users. We will take your input into consideration in the future updates.
