I’ve been a long term user. Love the flexibility and the ease to purchase overseas daily data plan. However, the limit for 4G data is too low - it’s not enough for a day for sure and the speed is so slow after the limit that I can’t even call Uber or use maps, etc. Although there’s a way to top up 4G data - the button only appears when I’m reaching the limit. This is very terrible user experience as I wouldn’t know when I’m approaching or have passed the limit. And like I said, the speed is so slow after the limit so I can’t even top up the data.

Suggestions: introduce higher limit 4G travel data plan and allow customers to top up way before the limit is used up

The inconvenience it cause was unacceptable especially when the plan was not unexpensive, will definitely cancel every service and monthly plan when I back to HK

去到日本，post左2個ig 動態，就已經用唔到數據，完全無法google map，開chrome，難以接受。會取消所有一直使用的月費計劃

I bought a prepaid card, downloaded the Birdie app, followed instructions to register an account and entered my credit card info. The app says that hk$1 will be deducted. My bank shows hk$1 has been deducted, but Birdie did not receive the payment. I tried the WhatsApp service but no one can help me. Their reply was a robotic message saying I should click “Confirm” to complete the process. There is no “Confirm” to click. I tried the process twice and my bank is showing $2 deducted. My prepaid plan still cannot be used. Please help as no one else can help me.

Don't expect any customer service from birdie when you come across issues. Absolutely no support. Email responses from birdie were handled by a pool and they dont read into what was communicated not to mention the delay in response. I kept having to repeat myself and they kept repeating their ridiculous response. It is almost like they enjoy annoying their customer. Bad customer service. Poor customer response attitude.

🌟 (추가) 2022.10.28. 서비스 종료된 거 직원이랑 더블체크 다했는데, 오늘 또 돈 내라고 메일 왔습니다.
8월에 해제한 서비스인데 지금 9월 10월 계속 돈 뜯어가려고 하네요. 절대 쓰지 마세요.

⭐️ (추가) 결국 그냥 돈 내고, 영수증 메일 도착했는데 정확하게 그로부터 4분 뒤에 또 돈내라고 연락 왔습니다. 근데 끝까지 사과도 안하네요ㅋ 이런 서비스를 쓰시겠다면 진짜 부당함에 별 타격 안 받는 멘탈이셔야할 거 같습니다.

1. 첫 달 무료였나 프로모해서 가입 -> 10일 뒤 다음 달 요금 부과됨. 2. 부과되자마자 걍 한 달치 냈다 생각하고 서비스 중단하고 한국 돌아옴. 근데 그 다음달 요금 또 부과됨. 어플도 지웠고, 서비스 terminte 되는 날짜도 분명 확인하고 왜 해지하는지 설문조사까지 해줬는데…. 그래서 난 분명 해지했으니까 해지내역이랑 어플 지웠던 로그 정보 확인해보고 다시 연락 달라니까, 상세한 날짜나 정보 하나도 안알려주고 “자기들이 조사해봤더니 해지 내역 없었다”고만 하고 돈 내라고 함.ㅋ 걍 싸우기 싫어서 돈 내기로 하는데, 다신 안 쓸듯. 그냥 믿을만한 한국 업체 쓰는게 정신 건강에 이로운듯. 옛날에는 서비스 좋았을 수는 있는데 홍콩서비스들 요즘 맛탱이 간 듯 참고로 우리나라였으면 개인정보보호법에 따라서 로그 정보 받아내서 근거자료로 다퉈보기라도 할 수 있는데, 여기서 그런거 따지기도 어려울 거 같아서 포기했습니다. 걍 공항에서 심 받아다 바꿔쓰세요 여러분ㅠ

Super stupid that you always need to update in order to use the apps. If you are out of data and you need to top up your account and the stupid app requires you to update your apps by using data. It means you will never able to buy more data until you connected to wifi.

I used birdie for many years but recently the birdie services has been very slow and consume data so fast pushing to purchase more data . It did not happened some years back so I don’t recommend birdie anymore . Switching to SOSIM .

Always doesn’t load, especially when abroad trying to fix up different data packages. Inflight roaming charging scheme also isn’t fair, one flight would constitute charging two passes because of timing.

Their service isn’t capable of even receiving SMS in many countries - they of course don’t mention this anywhere. So good luck if you are away and need an OTP.

Once you stop paying your bill, the number can also no longer receive OTP SMS messages. You have to pay off apparent former charges and then also buy a new service before being able to receive anything

I have been a loyal Birdie customer for over 3 years.

Recently I discovered that Birdie charges new customers half of what they charge existing customers.

When I requested to switch to the offer that new customers receive, I was told this is not possible.

After looking for new deals, I discovered competitors that were charging less than 1/8th of the cost that I was paying.

After signing up to the competitors' service, porting my number failed as apparently my name was incorrect. At this point, my service had ended.

Birdie forced me to pay $500 HKD ($250 x 2) in order to reconnect my service to receive an SMS in order to port my number. There was no other option to keep my number.

Birdie treats existing customers like trash.

Paid for a plan. Registration requires scanning of ID document. But the in app scanner does not work. Black screen. Customer service does not reply. Terrible and a waste of time.

Their data plan is a scam. Paid for 30GB and only got half of it at the end because my credit card didn't go through one time. That’s it. The plan was then downgraded to 15GB and their almost non-reachable customer service said there would be no more 30GB.  Avoid this unreasonable and deceitful brand at all cost. Better stick to traditional network providers.

They charge you and even take your signature before you run into any problems, but then offer no useful support or refund option unless you file a chargeback.

I subscribed and opted to move my pre-existing number and even pre-paid for some of their top plans, but ID verification does not work (the only way is through app’s built-in camera, but the button to take the photo never activates). 

Their WhatsApp support line replies with irrelevant “tips” that showed no one actually read and understood that the app is bugged (at least on my phone), and no actual person will answer. 

It’s been more than two weeks already, so it looks like a scam more and more. Regular local providers with their oppressive multi-year contracts are the only ones that actually work, apparently.

I really love it! Maybe it’s because I’m an expat and initially I was greatful for how easy it is to get a sim card and have full transparency on my bills. But also, I always appreciated this digital service model when you never have to go to a branch to resolve some issues — even back in my home country. It’s just works better, and online support is always supportive because that’s a primary communication channel.

Anyway, one issue I have experienced is because of the phone number that starts with 7. Sometimes local websites won’t let you register with this number because they don’t know numbers starting with 7 exists in HK. Last time it happened to me when trying to register at 6recycle.

Otherwise, good service!

for anyone who dislikes long rigid 24 month plans and dreads the idea of changing carriers, Birdie really solves that problem with no hassle. 

I love a good investment and now after 2 years I can look back and say Birdie was a great investment when it comes to saving time and saving a headache.  there’s value to be had here if you are reading this and you’re stuck with some annoying long mobile plan… ditch it

I was very skeptical with all the mobile carriers that ask for two year contract. I had various, bad experience with all of them in Europe. So before arriving in HK I did my search on Facebook and so many people recommended. I had to give it a try and it is really nice, the registration is online, super easy with the app. I can pick up my sim immediately. It is prepaid, no hidden fee whatsoever. I actually so happy with Birdie that I registered for my wife, my kids also. Highly recommended service. Please note that they are doing it online only so please read carefully all the info, especially regarding your concern since there is no one to take your call and answer your questions.
