I’m so excited to open it and set it up but when I put it my free 3 month code, it won’t even load to the next page . I don’t want to have to return this so please fix it . There would be no point of you guys creating the product just for the app to not work correctly . ### 1/5 — Useless *2025-01-09, version 2.4.7* Can’t use the device as app gets stuck during set up on the add contacts screen. Now I’m doubly mad. Not only does the app not work and is just caught constantly on the add birdie to contacts screen, but also you have to pay for it? I don’t want a gift I have to pay $50 for every year. ESPECIALLY if it doesn’t work in the first place! And from reading these reviews it seems like even if you do get past the screen I’m stuck on it’s basically not any help. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2024-12-31, version 2.4.7* This app just doesn’t work. It only lets you add birdie as a contact. I tried to practice and the excuse call worked a couple of times, but now it literally does nothing. No sense in paying extra for the birdie+ if it functionally does even less than the original birdie, as this one doesn’t have the LED light like the original does. I have given it all permissions, uninstalled and reinstalled, it does nothing. It’s just an endless loop of this stupid screen. Tried the trial subscription. The alarm works fine and is loud but I was more excited about the emergency help available via the button. However the app constantly glitched on the “adding Birdie to contacts” screen when my daughter got a new phone and we had to download it again. The problem was never able to be resolved even when dealing with customer support. I canceled the trial subscription. Over $70 on an app that literally needs to remain OPEN on your phone or else it does not work. All those “special” features go away unless you have it on and 24/7. If you choose to close out the app it’ll log you off and you’ll need to retype all your info all over again! Try that while being followed or attacked! In order for any of the functions to work the app has to actually be open on your phone (not just running in the background, actually pulled up). You also have to login every single time you open the app. I don’t know about you, but I don’t think that in an emergency situation I will have time to open an app and log in before using this device. At that point I might as well just use my phone to dial 911. Save your money and just get the regular Birdie device that is just an alarm. It’s so upsetting because this feels like a cash grab praying on how scared women feel. ### 1/5 — Don’t bother *2023-12-19, version 2.0.3* Please read the other one star reviews. If you don’t have the app open, the calling and texting features do not work, and half the time it won’t sync. I can’t log on to the app anymore because it won’t recognize my phone number, but it won’t let me register again because my email and phone number are already associated to my account. I contacted customer service and they state that the problem is fixed. It is not fixed. Then I’m told I need the latest update. The app is up to date. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app several times and I still can’t log on. I will not be renewing the $89 per year subscription for something that doesn’t work as intended. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Beyond glitchy and bad customer service *2025-11-07, version 2.5.1* This app simply doesn’t work and customer service will not answer any emails to help get the app and the Birdie+ connected. I cannot move beyond endlessly signing up for my free trial. Getting ahold of their team is a nightmare and there being no cancellation button in the app should be illegal if they don’t have a phone number to call. Clearly scamming you to keep you paying. ### 1/5 — Just get the basic birdie *2025-07-09, version 2.5.0* I didn’t realize the free subscription starts 30 days after purchase so I miss out (on me completely) but as I try to enroll in a subscription plan…nothing. It got here, I got the app, and it didn’t even let me create an account. I updated and restarted my phone and each time I tried, it would only say “something went wrong.” In an attempt to troubleshoot and find help (which there was none of) I discovered that the subscription service is pretty shady and it’s really hard to cancel. Ironically, this app not working has saved me more than the alarm ever could. I wish I had checked the App Store reviews as well. ### 1/5 — App Is Horrible; Won’t Stay Connected *2025-01-23, version 2.4.7* I wanted to like this app and the Birdie+, but it needs a LOT of work. The Birdie+ device won’t stay connected. It disconnects every time you close the app, making all of the paid subscription features worthless. I got the Birdie+ and the subscription for my daughter and I, and every single time we’ve each tried to do a test call or a test to share our location with a “Birdie Bestie”, it doesn’t work. I’m extremely frustrated that I’m expected to pay $100 a year for two subscriptions to this worthless product. I take it hiking, out to dinner and with me to work. I love the walk with me feature with the 24/7 Live Rep! I just love how they will stay on the phone with me when I need it and that they can call emergency services if I need it. The app has had many updates and is working great! I love the new notifications telling me if my device is disconnected. ### 5/5 — Peace of mind *2023-06-04, version 1.0.20* I have a regular birdie (and gifted several to people I know) but recently got the birdie+. Setup was a breeze and the test text/call was almost immediate. Glad to know I will be able to get help quickly if I am ever in a bad situation. ### 5/5 — Great App! *2022-09-12, version 1.0.9* Just received my Birdie + and unboxed. The only issue I had was the plastic thing attached to battery to activate was not as easy to remove. Once removed I was able to use the app to walk through testing all Birdie’s features. Something to note: when setting up your Birdie, when prompted you need to turn Location ON ALWAYS. If you set it to Location When Using the App, it will always prompt you every time you open the app. That’s how it works on any app with an Apple phone. The whole point of buying this Birdie + versus the regular Birdie is you’re purchasing additional GPS/Bluetooth functionality so you can be tracked for some of the services. If your location is turned off especially in an emergency, how do you expect rescue teams to find you?? Personally, instead of being annoyed that you have to pay a monthly subscription fee, think of it as your own personal On-Star service. Help is just a button away! It’s nice to have some sort of fairly discreet hardware to carry around with you versus having to request help from my cell phone. The loud chirp from pulling on the ring is loud enough to wake the dead and deter anybody nearby from approaching you. The courtesy call is amazing, and the agents who assist in sending help are so sweet! I’ll be buying these cute little Birdie+s for all the women in my family! ### 4/5 — Emergency contact issue *2022-10-21, version 1.0.9* Hi My mom just got two of these devices last week. I am getting more independence after we moved to California and after getting an electric bike and and electric scooter. My mom is still worried about me not being able to react fast enough or act and speak The right things to get out of trouble if someone is bothering me or something bad happens. Plus I am adventurous and like to go exploring sometimes. I like the button that turns it off and on because sometimes it gets caught on something and the siren it makes scares me. I have one problem with the app and that is the emergency contacts. I wish I could add more than two people to it, like my whole family, because they are not all living in the same city and or state as I am and should be notified if I am in danger. Please fix it so we can add as many or as few as we want.
