How to update etc, would be great to be slightly more in control with this something a little similar to PC dashboard would be great. Have no idea what to do with this thing it just runs. hopefully.

There does not seem to be a way to turn off error messages that my device Needs Attention because I have not installed Bitdefender VPN.   I have my own VPN.
And the email protection does not include AOL mail.
