This year I was looking to move away due to system slowing, no real IOS systems (acc. To magazines / web etc.) In the end I got an email from BD, 2 days after my subscription ran out saying I’d been hacked and that I needed to renew to see how etc. Of course I got the 50% reduction as per normal and renewed only to see that the ‘hacking had happened 2 years ago and had been fully protected’. What a complete farce. The apps are still slowing connections and have the issue that VPN isn’t recognised as protection by its own system. Also now the ‘scamio pro’ doesn’t work. Stay away from Bitdefender ultimate it’s doesn’t do what it says on the tin for mac users. ### 3/5 — Review *2026-08-22, version 7.8.7* How to update etc, would be great to be slightly more in control with this something a little similar to PC dashboard would be great. And if you submit a ticket, you may hear back months later that they’re still working on it. ### 4/5 — Good but not to my expectations *2026-07-20, version 7.8.5* Overall, Bitdefender works well, but there are several areas that need improvement, especially on iPhone. * When Bitdefender WireGuard VPN is enabled, my internet connection often stops working, and apps that require internet access also fail to function. * When the Bitdefender VPN is turned on, Mobile Security appears to stop working properly, and internet browsing is no longer monitored. * At times, an unknown app seems to disable or override the Bitdefender VPN without my knowledge, leaving the device unprotected. * Apps such as Instagram continue running in the background, accessing location services and transferring data, which contributes to excessive battery drain. Bitdefender does not appear to detect or alert me to this activity. * Potentially malicious files received through apps such as WhatsApp are not detected. I would like Bitdefender to provide better scanning of downloaded files and attachments where iOS permissions allow. * Some apps may access the camera, GPS, or continuously transmit location data in the background. Bitdefender should detect unusual behaviour and notify users of suspicious activity. * Whenever I notice sudden device heating or abnormal battery drain, I often have to reset my network and mobile settings to restore normal operation. It would be helpful if Bitdefender could automatically monitor for abnormal background activity, especially unexpected data transfers during the night, and alert the user. * On iPhone, I cannot configure scanning or monitoring for Calendar, SMS, or WhatsApp messages. While I understand this may be due to iOS limitations, I would appreciate any additional protection that is technically possible. * It would also be useful if Bitdefender displayed a persistent on-screen status or notification showing that protection is active. This would reassure users that the security features are running correctly. ### 3/5 — VPN *2026-07-20, version 7.8.5* The VpN keeps getting rejected by he one website I actually want to watch Apart from that the security is okay though it has missed anoupf scam emails ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — If you’re a blind user, don’t bother. *2026-09-03, version 7.8.7* I wish I could actually evaluate the software on its merits, but I never even got that far. Being totally blind, I rely on screen readers, including VoiceOver on iOS, to use my devices. I only created my BitDefender Central account two nights ago. Since I sometimes find iOS apps to have better screen reader compatibility than their Windows counterparts, I decided to try to set up Mobile Security first. Sadly, I couldn’t even accept the licensing terms. Apparently, there is a check box that VoiceOver cannot identify using any form of navigation. I tried in vain for about half an hour just to accept the agreement but could never progress. Seeing this as a likely sign of the overall blind accessibility of the entire suite of apps, I removed the app and terminated my account without even bothering with the Windows version. My phone will just continue to lack dedicated protection. As for my PC, I’ll have to keep Trend Micro. While not exactly great in terms of accessibility, it does at least work and is provided by my ISP for free. I also VEHEMENTLY reject the company’s binding arbitration requirement (Read those license agreements, people!). More and more companies strongarm their customers into giving up their legal rights for terms generally considered as more favorable to them. While I was willing to see if the protection and features offered are robust and reliable enough to overcome this objection, the fact that I can’t even set it up means that it’s not worth my consideration. This experience will unfortunately cost me about $30 as I likely can’t get a refund. But having purchased it during newegg’s recent sale, I at least only paid a fraction of the normal cost to learn this lesson. ### 1/5 — Reimburse my purse *2026-09-02, version 7.8.7* After paying for over a year and never able to get care support without calendar and sms protection from scam it was deleted and subscription stopped Suspicious to delete an app an have it show up again my subscription was a rip off never resolved calendar an sms protections never helped but I wonder also why bit defender reports itself to its own domain under countless other Bitdefender combinations. A Domain of same name which says “the frequency of domain reporting could indicate compiling of a profile!” Would that be a trustworthy thing from a security app you pay monthly for?
