## What is BiteSpend?

BiteSpend is the simplest way to track what you spend on food — groceries and eating out — without manually entering anything.

Scan a receipt with your camera and BiteSpend extracts every line item automatically: the store, the date, every product, and the total. Your spending is organized by category, store, and individual item so you can see exactly where your food budget is going.

SET A MONTHLY BUDGET
Tell BiteSpend how much you want to spend on groceries and eating out each month. The dashboard shows you your remaining budget in real time, how fast you're burning through it, and whether you're on track to stay within your limit.

SCAN RECEIPTS IN SECONDS
Point your camera at any grocery or restaurant receipt. BiteSpend reads it and fills in all the details — no typing required. Supports receipts from any store.

TRACK PRICES OVER TIME
BiteSpend remembers what you paid for items across visits. When a price rises, you'll know. See your price history for any product and find out which store gives you the best deal.

SMART SAVINGS RECOMMENDATIONS
After each scan, BiteSpend compares your basket against your purchase history and flags items where you've paid less before — so you can make smarter choices next time.

WORKS FOR BOTH GROCERIES AND EATING OUT
Track supermarket shops and restaurant meals in separate categories. See your combined food spend or drill into each category independently.

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
Your data stays on your account. No ads, no data selling.

BiteSpend is free to use with a generous monthly scan allowance. Pro plan available for unlimited scans.

### 5/5 — Excellent app for tracking food expenses

*2026-05-30*

Very simple and user friendly app which makes it easy for me to track food expenses. Super easy to navigate, clean and organized. It helps me build better spending habits and budgeting less stressful.

**Developer response:** Thank you Snehaxly. We built BiteSpend specifically because food spending felt like the one budgeting category nobody could actually see. Glad it's making things less stressful. If you haven't tried the Insights tab yet, that's where the cross-store price intelligence lives.

### 5/5 — very useful budgeting app

*2026-05-30*

made money management so much more easier and it’s easy to use. The app is well built. And there’s no add that’s a plus. Use it for groceries everytime

**Developer response:** Thanks momogrocery. No ads is a deliberate choice. We wanted the app to feel like a tool, not an inventory of someone else's products. Glad it's working for your grocery trips. Hit us with feature requests anytime.

### 5/5 — Finally know where my grocery money goes

*2026-05-30*

Review:
Downloaded this after i kept wondering why our grocery bill felt so high. Turns out we were spending close to $900 a month and thought it was around $650. Scanned a few receipts from Costco and Trader Joe's and within a week I could see exactly what was eating up the budget. The scan is fast and actually reads the items correctly, which I was skeptical about. Really glad I found this.

**Developer response:** Sajbasnet, this is exactly the gap BiteSpend was built to close. That "I thought we spent X but it's actuallyY" moment is the moment most budgeting apps can't show you, because bank feeds don't see line items. Glad the scanner held up on Costco and Trader Joe's. Those long receipts are the toughest to parse and the most worth parsing.

### 5/5 — Great tool

*2026-05-27*

I got a chance to use this early. I use this every time we go grocery. Scanning to find savings is a new habit for me now. Love it.
.

**Developer response:** Thanks Sabrina. We saw you scanning early. That kind of habit-forming usage is exactly the signal we hoped for. The next round of Insights features (cheaper-elsewhere alerts at scan time, Personal Food Inflation rate)are now live in v1.2. Worth checking.

### 5/5 — Great for Tracking Food Spending

*2026-05-27*

BiteSpend is a very practical app for anyone who wants to understand where their food money is going. I really like that it can scan grocery and restaurant receipts instead of making you manually enter everything. Being able to track spending by store, category, and individual item makes it much easier to see patterns and stay on budget. The price history feature is especially useful because it helps you notice when items get more expensive and where you’ve found better deals before. Simple idea, well executed, and genuinely helpful for everyday budgeting.

**Developer response:** Abibhu, glad the price history feature landed. That cross-store, item-by-item view was the hardest part to build but the part we believed would matter most. The new Insights tab in v1.2 takes this further. Your basket now gets its own inflation rate. Worth a look.

### 5/5 — Very helpful

*2026-05-26*

Keeping track of food spend/budget is tough. I used to literally use a Google spreadsheet and keep it updated when I bought groceries or fast food. Bitespend is a helpful replacement because I just snap a pic of the receipt. Useful app

**Developer response:** Matt, the spreadsheet-to-app pipeline is the most common story we hear. Snapping receipts instead of manual entry was the wedge. We figured if scanning was reliable enough, nobody would type again. Glad it stuck for you.

### 5/5 — Costco Problems Solved!

*2026-05-26*

I’m finally going to understand my costco receipt :)

**Developer response:** Peng, Costco receipts were the first thing we made sure to nail. Those 30+ item receipts are why most receipt apps fail. Glad to be the one that works
