## What is Bium Browser?

We make apps that empty out the ads and the things that pull at your attention,
and give your time back to you.
Bium Browser opens pages with the ads and trackers taken out.

The blocklists live inside the app. It never contacts a server to decide what to block, so the addresses you open do not leave your device. There is no account, no sync server, and no analytics SDK.

■ It stays on the device
· 219,964 rules ship inside the app; 143,148 of them are on by default (lists sourced 2026-10-11).
· Ads, trackers, cookie banners, and Korea-specific rules are separate lists you can switch on and off.
· The count of what was blocked on this page is shown in place.
· Where declarative rules cannot reach, bundled corrections fill the gap — still without asking anything outside.

■ Kid mode
· Turning it off takes the parent passcode.
· It switches on an adult and gambling list of 76,816 rules and blocks those sites.
· It forces SafeSearch, and a child cannot switch it off in the search engine's own settings.
· The sites a child searched are not shared with the parent. It is not a way to watch a child; it is a way to block.

■ The basics of a browser
· Reader mode — body text only
· Put the address bar at the top or the bottom, and let it hide while you read down the page
· Profiles — cookies, history and bookmarks are kept per profile. A profile's name and passcode are set inside that profile, and a locked one asks before you enter
· Password vault — kept in the Keychain and filled only when you tap a login field. Banking, brokerage and government sites are never stored in the first place
· Multiple tabs and windows, reopen closed tabs, private tabs
· Per-site text size, remembered
· Put the places you visit often on your Home Screen
· Set it as your default browser and links tapped in other apps open here

■ What it cannot do, written down
· Ad lists do not block adult sites. Kid mode is what covers that.
· Because it blocks ad traffic relayed through first-party addresses, some sites will ask you to allow ads. Turning off that one list opens them.
· Blocking applies inside this app's own views only. A browser embedded in another app belongs to that app and is out of reach — set Bium as the default browser and the links those apps hand off will land here. The rest is Screen Time's job.

Note: the app's interface is in Korean.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.2 — 2026-10-28

Deeper support for iPhone Duo. On the cover screen, a site's own search box or header no longer hides behind the address bar, and you can now lay the clock and Wi-Fi out horizontally.

• On the cover screen the page now starts below the address bar. The bar used to sit on top of the page, so a site header pinned to the top of the screen - Google's search box, for one - went behind it and could not be seen.
• Turn on 「바깥화면 시계를 가로로」 in Settings and the status items move to a horizontal band at the top, widening the text column by 22%. Buttons and the address bar move to the bottom.
• Your reading position no longer gets dragged when the keyboard appears. It is only restored when the text actually reflows - folding and unfolding - and it stands aside while you type.
• On image-heavy front pages the reading position no longer latches onto a gap and jumps the page.

### 1.3.1 — 2026-10-27

Sound is fixed. In 1.3.0 audio and video on a page would stop a moment after starting; this release puts that right, and sharpens two more corners of how Bium holds your place.

• Play a narrated article or a video and it runs to the end. Opening Bium no longer cuts off music you were already listening to.
• Folding the Duo while it is turned no longer nudges the line you were reading.
• On image-heavy front pages your place no longer latches onto a gap and jumps the page.

### 1.3.0 — 2026-10-26

Real support for iPhone Duo. Folded, open, or turned, the screen is spent on the page and you never lose your place.

• Fold, unfold, or turn 90 degrees and the paragraph you were reading comes with you. When the width changes the text reflows, so we hold on to the words you were looking at — not a coordinate — and put them back in the same spot on the new screen.
• Open and landscape, the address bar lies down in a single line; scroll to read and the clock and Wi-Fi step aside with it, leaving only the page. Open and portrait, the address bar shortens and moves up beside the clock.
• On the cover screen the buttons stand in the column beside the camera — space the safe area had already taken, so the page loses nothing.
• Play a video and the screen becomes a stage. Press and hold the right edge and controls appear under your thumb: pause and jump ten seconds with one hand.
• Profiles are one idea now. Cookies, history, favorites and saved passwords stay in their own jar, and a jar you hand to a child asks for nothing on the way in — it asks for the adult jar's code on the way out.
• Reader mode picks its line length from the screen. The tab switcher shows covers, and those covers ask nothing of the outside world.
• Fixed: the app could quit while deleting a profile, and the screen could jitter while pinching to zoom.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-10-24

Fixed the composer being cut off on chat sites.

• Pages built as one fixed shell — Gemini and the like — never scroll themselves. Bium was leaving room for its floating address and button bars with a scroll inset only, and a page that never scrolls cannot see that inset. The composer at the bottom ended up under the button bar, and the site's own header hid behind the address bar. Those pages now get real layout room, so the composer and the header both stand clear. Long articles you scroll behave exactly as before.

### 1.2 — 2026-10-21

A switch for the endless vertical scroll.

• Settings has a new switch, "Take out YouTube Shorts." With it on, Shorts tiles and Shorts shelves drop out of the feed, and a Shorts link opens in the ordinary player instead. It does not block the video; it keeps it out of the endless scroll. It is on by default in Kid Mode and off by default in the adult profile — the two are stored separately, so changing one leaves the other alone.
• App Store links opened an empty tab on the phone. Apple's server answers an iPhone with a redirect into the App Store rather than a web page, and Bium was treating that as a page trying to launch an app on its own, so it blocked it. Navigations you start yourself — address bar, search results, start page — now go through.
• The home screen now holds 135 quotes, up from 121. Fourteen are new Goethe lines on quiet courage, rest and hope.
