### 2/5 — Buggy, basic journaling is broken, loses data

*2024-09-13*

I was entering detailed notes on my session, tapped save, got the save confirmation. Unfortunately it only saved one sentence and lost everything else. This app has so many interesting and advanced features and detailed settings but if I can’t trust it to save basic notes all of that is for nothing. Going back to using the Notes app.

### 2/5 — Lots of potential but lots of bugs too

*2024-08-01*

I really wanted to use this app, but unfortunately, the frustration of using it has now overshadowed the benefits. I like the layout and design, but every time I use the app it either looses information I’m entering or buttons stop working or when I try to save a log it looses the data in part or whole. If the developers can work out these glitches I think they will have a winning app, but for now it’s unusable. Feels like it’s not even quite ready for beta, if I’m honest.

### 4/5 — No kids belts?!

*2024-06-28, version 3.65*

It seems like a great app but I’m under the age of 16 and am a orange and black belt. I tried to put in my age and it still only had adult belts please fix this……

### 4/5 — Great app…but

*2024-05-01*

I use this app to track my days at my BJJ gym since we can’t wear a fitness tracker (such as an Apple Watch) and I love the app. It tracks how many times you rolled, how many were in the class, notes on technique, how long each roll was, and you can even get into the nitty gritty of every sweep, takedown, submission, or tap. My issue is that while the workout will count to the exercise ring for my Apple Watch, the integration for the calorie burn isn’t there so I have to add it in manually to ensure I’m hitting my “move” goal for the watch and for other fitness apps. It would be great if that could be addressed and fixed for a 5 star review!

### 3/5 — Want to give it 5/5

*2024-03-28*

The content and idea are 5/5 but the execution is a little glitchy still. With more time this will be a great app.

### 2/5 — I really want to like it.

*2024-03-26, version 3.64*

It has so much potential, and I really am trying to use it, it’s just so buggy. Adding training logs shouldn’t be this difficult. If you don’t exit all the way you can accidentally add additional logs for the same entry. Many other bugs to list.

It has potential, if the devs keep work up to it, it could be a great app.

### 4/5 — Great app

*2023-08-23, version 3.58*

Love the idea of this! It’d be perfect if there was also a pass section to document any guard passes you get, I’m struggling a bit to back date as once I made the log it vanishes but great potential as a game changer for my training

### 3/5 — UX is just not good. Can’t edit my first entry. Not intuitive

*2023-08-05*

I respect the effort here, but the app is just not intuitive at all. My first entry is there, but I wouldn’t know it from my activity log. Notes get randomly saved separate from training sessions. And the Ui just messy. Needs a UX professional to clean it all up. Gonna try others.

### 3/5 — Good

*2023-06-16, version 3.56*

Recording rolls is a bit buggy

### 2/5 — Logging function not working

*2023-05-31*

Can’t log my training, press select date button and no dates show. Save my data, I.e rounds , submissions etc , then when I add notes save and return, all this data resets. Click save and tells me it’s saved but doesn’t exit. When I exit, the training doesn’t show on the log.
Design and idea is cool just lacks functionality

### 2/5 — Seems to be good

*2023-02-23*

It seems to be a good app but I’m having struggles in order to login again. Not sure why this is happening. It seem that the app lost control of the login view. Not sure if this is regarding my IOS version or even my IPhone version (6S). Tried to recover password but no success. Despite of that seems to be a really good app. Good work guys! Just fill this buggy gaps and that app will skyrocket.

**Developer response:** Hi sorry for the bad experience on the login issue but this has been fixed along with other app improvements.

### 3/5 — Wanted it to be good

*2023-01-12*

The app has a lot of great ideas, like the tagging and data viz. The main issue is that it simply doesn’t save some entries, some notes are unattached to training sessions, no easy way to edit and save prior sessions. It’s free and may be able to keep some basic records, but only sporadically.

### 2/5 — Always resets itself

*2022-10-24, version 3.47*

Every time I add a submission or tap my roll count disappears. Roll notes are also disappearing. Hopefully this can be fixed

### 2/5 — Bjj Buddy

*2022-10-22, version 3.47*

This app has the potential to be the best Bjj app of all time, problem is, it still seems very buggy, I got to update certain stats and it won’t change etc, need a few bug fixes to be useable

### 3/5 — Oh the bugs

*2022-10-17*

It’s a fantastic app. The concept is great and can’t wait until it gets refined. It for sure works but aside from the bugs here and there this is a great log book for BJJ.

3 star reason

•Even though I will support this app throughout my BJJ life we need to address some things.

•If you want to input the school you go to, You won’t be able to as of yet.

•inputting the weight and goal details are a little bit of a pain because of the bugs but it’s still doable

*hint* start from the top text box then work your way down! don’t skip and come back to the skipped portion; everything will reset.

•entering competition stats can be a-little confusion and needs some refinement. Again, doable but it will take some time

Can’t wait to give this app a 4 star soon!

### 3/5 — Great Concept - Inefficient Quirks

*2021-09-02*

Overall, I love the concept of the app with the ability to log trainings with notes and track specific data.

Layout: Beautiful and simple.

Quirks/Bugs?:
1.When entering training stats, you have to SAVE the data before you input your notes/journal/video for that session. Let’s say you put in all your submissions, taps, rounds, round timing, etc. you then click to add notes. But once you’re done with the notes, it brings you back to the original training page, but all your data has been reset. Irritating.

2. For some reason, the data graphs are showing zero rounds rolled, despite my entry of rounds in my individual training day entries.

3. I had to sit out and roll my brain instead of my body from an injury. I still made a stat log with notes, but that day is not showing. The NOTES are showing, but not the day’s data.

Fix the bugs and I’ll definitely change the rating. Overall, okay.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the honest feedback. Will look at fixing the 3 issues you outlined in the next release!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Don’t trust this app

*2025-10-03, version 3.74*

Randomly, all data that I had been entering for years just disappeared. I tried contacting customer support and no one replies. Avoid this app

### 1/5 — Uninstalled twice and made new accounts. Stops working each time.

*2025-08-22, version 3.73*

Advertised features stop working and all training log dates revert to the August 23 1970 for some reason.

### 1/5 — UI issues

*2024-11-27, version 3.68*

Lots of bugs can pick a date for goals, comp results do not show up, a lot of UI issues that need to be resolved.

### 1/5 — App Is Unusable

*2021-11-29, version 3.46*

The app will not allow me past the log in screen. In signs me and and boots my right back out.

### 1/5 — Vídeos

*2021-08-05, version 3.45*

This app does not work!!! It won’t let me to load the videos from class.

### 1/5 — Broken app

*2020-02-18, version 3.40*

Will not work with calendar. Logging a day from earlier in the week is impossible and always logs it as the current day. Many days do not show up at all.

### 1/5 — Lots of issues

*2019-12-06, version 3.22*

Many little things don’t work, and cuts into the enjoyment and functionality of this app

### 1/5 — Good Idea but very buggy

*2019-06-06, version 2.91*

Auto populated a school I’m not affiliated with and won’t let me change it and tags my training sessions at another school altogether. Concept is there but the app doesn’t function as I would hope. Doesn’t save training sessions and after a few times trying I gave up. Going to get a notebook but use the same idea as the app to log my training.

### 1/5 — Beware, no email unsubscribe!

*2019-03-28, version 2.84*

No escape from their emails. You can’t unsubscribe, no support, no replies to contact form, and impossible to escape. The company team is impossible to find. Very suspicious and for people in the EU totally fraudulent use of data.

### 1/5 — Can’t delete account

*2018-09-21, version 2.57*

I’ve removed the app and still get emails. Can’t find a way to delete account or stop emails. This app is the equivalent of the crazy ex that won’t go away. Avoid it

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Just What I Need

*2026-04-28*

Logs notes from each class, rolls, what submissions work for me, what submissions I fall for and tap to (I log a lot of those). Pulls all the data together in a clean way. I like that I can export the data for analysis outside the app if I want.

Latest update seems to have worked out a lot of bugs that made it laggy. That made me come on here and endorse it with 5 stars. Excited to continue using it.

### 5/5 — Great overall, active devs

*2026-04-24*

a little bit buggy but gets way better after each update. maybe add a way to remove a custom move after it is added, cuz i accidentally made like 7 of the same one 😅

### 5/5 — Great app for training tracking

*2025-09-19, version 3.73*

Aura

### 5/5 — Exactly what I was looking for

*2025-08-06, version 3.73*

Beats writing in my notebook

### 5/5 — Solid tracker

*2025-01-23*

I just started Jiu Jitsu and one way I hold myself accountable is tracking my classes and if it’s no gi or gi. This does both as well as how many rounds you rolled and the time and notes etc. It has lots of cool features.

### 5/5 — Great app, little buggy

*2023-08-17*

Started using this app day one of jiu Jitsu training. Every roll, every place. Haven’t found a school not in the list yet, great job keeping up with that, appreciated. There are some bugs but they aren’t show stoppers: energy levels don’t all work for instance, or choosing all in the data only gives you the last 12 months, not all.
Overall the app is pleasing to look at, easy to use and does a good job tracking and displaying my data. Recommended to others.

Thank you and I hope you keep developing the app.
Matt

### 5/5 — My new fave app

*2022-10-02, version 3.47*

Amazing job

### 5/5 — Much Needed Application For Jiu-Jitsu

*2022-08-18, version 3.47*

Ability to track everything.

### 5/5 — Been using the App for around 2 years off and on.

*2021-11-06*

Hey guys, for anyone who wants to look at their BJJ game and how it evolves over time, this is honestly your app. It’s just a straight up good tracker of what your doing in class, how your doing it, and where you can improve (by looking at your lack of submissions, takedowns, or what your tapping most to). It takes your info and gives you a ton of graphs that you will look at more than you think. Also, it works with Apple Watch and the fitness app if that’s something that you like (which I do). I’m a three stripe blue at this point and have trained in a bunch of countries because of my job so I don’t use things like the geographical location and the gyms that I train at aren’t on it but I really don’t care. With an app like this you just need to use it for the tool that it is. I truly hope the developers keep updating and improving the app (hint, hint), but even as it is right now, I love it. Thanks guys for such a useful app. I’m giving 5 stars because it’s well thought out.

Update: the bugs that you are already working on from one of the last messages will go far to improve this already great app. The biggest problem that I’ve had is that the list app allows you to make a custom list of submission, sweeps, etc, by adding them. Would you please:
1) add sweep and other categories? Right now, users can only add submissions.
2) allow users to erase submissions or other items from lists
3) consider a pay option to support this app.

This is still the best BJJ app despite not being updated for long periods of time. The graphics, charts, and simple design is head and shoulders above all the others.

### 5/5 — Bjj buddy helped my game!

*2020-11-24*

Have you ever wanted to track all your techniques and write them down well now you don’t have to because there’s an awesome app that gives you access to everything that you need from how long you trained to how many times you tapped out BJJ buddy really completely changed my entire training life
