This has some great sounds, a perfect interface for ios, nice big knobs (I wish more developers would make their iOS apps as well-designed when porting from Mac/Windows), and the ‘ribbon’ feature is a very good idea. That’s just because it’s so nice I now want it on my comp as well. I’m amazed that this iOS (iPad) version is just like the desktop version without limiting any features. Other music apps tend to give a very slimmed down version for iOS. That’s not the case with this. The new iPad Air is powerful enough to run it in Cubasis without cpu overload. It’s the best space modulated reverb I’ve heard. I have some of the others. The standalone app works great too and the knobs and sliders are big enough to adjust on the fly like when playing live. It’s actually nicer to use on iPad then on the comp for this reason, the big slider at the bottom that can automate several knobs at once is really nice and easy to use live. This could be the future of audio on iOS if other plugin developers see the potential and follow suit. There’s no need to slim down the plugins because the latest iPad/ iPhone devices are powerful enough to run the full version like the desktop. I’m really happy Eventide sees this and made it available. ### 5/5 — Surprisingly, worth every penny *2019-08-10, version 1.0.14* I was absolutely positive that I did NOT need another reverb app, let alone one costing £20. But I was so enthralled by MicroPitch that I gave this a punt, and I’ve not regretted it since. There’s an entire universe here, from microsecond slap-back to stuff that never, ever, ends, calling at all points in between. I seriously doubt that I’ll ever get to use all that it’s got to offer a guitar, and then there’s drums, and voice, and synths... Raises the bar on iOS! *2019-07-23, version 1.0.14* Simple, easy to understand, sounds great and fantastic support! Eventide is here to rule! ### 5/5 — Outtasite! *2019-07-20* This was just on sale (macOS/sit down version) a couple months back and I bought it and it works great with my current work-flow. There is quite a “shoot-out” for iOS/auv reverb plug-ins occurring right now and I’ve been on the fence for ... a year? Or more? I have zero reverb, AUFX space, and Virsyn’s AudioReverb but am not sure which of the newer reverbs to put money on as I’m sure they all sound great. So I guess what I’m saying in my out of place ramble is this: Black Hole was for me a no-brainer even though it was not, by any stretch, part of the budget. It’s a great plug in by who? Eventide?? Only the most highly acclaimed effects manufacturers EVER! What a great time we are in, right?! Few thousand dollars worth of code parked in my device that’s as thick as a small stack of papers. •Lets Move Ahead• I am glad (to put it mildly) I am F’N TOTALLY STOKED that all these companies can find new/untapped revenue by porting their code to iOS for “mobile-musician” gathering of money but before the applause fades why not completely WOW us with a NEW iOS gizmo or... or....an iOS patchable Ultraharmonizer. Purtroppo dopo qualche minuto di utilizzo si impalla producendo un suono acuto. La cosa chiaramente la rende inutilizzabile. Peccato! ### 1/5 — Gimmicky sounds.... *2021-04-11* I thought for sure I could get like the very best Plate reverb or any kind of beautiful rooms and halls....nope....everything sound has attached to it some kind of fart or thronk or burp....regret buying. **Developer response:** Hi, Blackhole is not intended to be a realistic reverb, but rather to create spaces (large and small) that could never exist in reality. The app description says as such, sorry it was not what you were looking for. ### 1/5 — This is the best one *2020-11-27, version 1.0.25* This is the best one to get all the others ones just sound all the same sort of thing as this. ### 1/5 — Crashes every time *2020-05-06* I am very disappointed with this app. The sound is great but it crashes EVERY time I use it. I have an ipad pro second gen which works perfectly with any other music app (xynthesizr, patterning, borderlands etc.) and any other effect. When I use the Eventide Blackhole it only takes a few minutes and than it crahses. Loud buzzing noise that only stops when I close the Eventide Blackhole. And no I am not running dozens of apps at the same time. I use borderlands and Patterning2 over AUM with the Blackhole as an effect for borderlands. The updates didn‘t change anything about the problem. I spent over 20 Euros for this effect, what a rip off! **Developer response:** Hi, sorry to hear about the issue. As a note, if you are using IAA - there is a known bug with some IAA apps on iOS 13, where apps will begin buzzing after a period of time. This is a known issue on Apple's end which we have been in contact with them about - it also affects apps other than ours, and was introduced in iOS 13. If you're using IAA, we recommend using AUv3, which doesn't have this issue. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with iOS 13.3.1 *2020-04-18, version 1.0.19* It could be a great reverb, but has some serious glitches on iPad 7 with iOS 13.3.1. It can’t be used like this: after a few minutes of usage it starts producing a loud and annoying glitching sound. Please fix this bug. Don’t let it be a waste of money! ### 2/5 — Pas convaincu *2026-05-31* Je joue sur Loopy pro et je cherche une reverb pour ma voix. J’ai vu des bon avis sur celle-ci mais aucune démo sur une voix donc j’ai voulu essayer, ça ne marche pas du tout. Déjà vous ne pouvez pas régler le decay et le size distinctement donc impossible d’avoir un réglage pertinent. Ensuite si vous cherchez un réglage large mais pas envahissant (entre 1 et 1.5 sec de decay) vous aurez systématiquement un son métallique atroce, et tous les boutons à disposition ne changeront rien à ça. Pas intuitif du tout. Je ne mets pas 1 étoile car elle peut être utile pour des reverb artistiques assez exagérées mais pour une reverb de confort pour voix oubliez. ### 2/5 — A letdown *2021-05-15* wanted some good rooms and plates but all these presets sound the same. The app description says as such, sorry it was not what you were looking for. ### 2/5 — Lovely verb but crashes... *2020-04-14, version 1.0.19* IPad 6th gen and whenever I use it as a plug in, say in ToneStack or AUM, inevitably it will crash at a largely random point. I use my iPad for live and sadly this isn’t stable enough for live use which is a massive shame and a massive blow considering purchase price ### 2/5 — Awesome sound, unusable live w/o updates *2019-09-19* I was super excited when this was released on iOS and I absolutely loved the plugin. It sounds amazing...but I can’t use it live at all because it crashes way too often (like every 10 minutes). I use Bias Mobile and ran Blackhole as IAA. It glitches up, sometimes making a squealing sound, often just completely cutting out. I have to pull it out of the chain in Bias and then restart Blackhole, but it usually happens again shortly after. I contacted support who said they’re working on fixing some bugs, but offered no timeline to update. I was so happy when I heard this plugin, which makes it hurt worse that I can’t risk using it live now. ☹️ Hopefully it becomes more stable soon. **Developer response:** Hey, we believe this issue is fixed in the most recent update. Please try updating and let us know if the issue persists. ### 3/5 — Bug fix needed *2021-10-22* Usually works very well, but is having this error with GB not recognizing it, says I don’t have it install. There is no need to limit the capabilities of software instruments. Please implement randomization on all instruments to increase their capabilities. ,Thanks! ### 5/5 — Amazingly flexible reverb *2025-04-19* After playing with this, I ended up getting a Blackhole pedal for my bass. You can use it for very normal reverbs, very weird reverbs, forward or reversed delays, or even as an industrial drum filter (set predelay to 0 and mix to 100, as with any additive effect you want to use as a filter instead). ### 5/5 — Riverbero spaziale *2024-01-01, version 1.0.29* Veramente notevole. It can add an otherworldly harmonic “breathing” to whatever you run through it, but if applied intelligently, always sounds musical. I was umming and arring as to whether I should spend any more money on an app, as I’ve been sadly under whelmed by several before, but this time I haven’t been disappointed. Thanks Eventide, I’ve had a hankering for an Eventide effects pedal for some years but have never been able to afford one.
