However, there are quite a few bugs these days and it desperately needs an update. For one, when you try to delete a note… it doesn’t permanently delete and it’s back the next time you open the app. 2, once you have a certain amount of data, it takes FOREVER to open. 3, once you have a certain amount of notes, it doesn’t matter if you open an empty note or not, it will likely lag. 4, there’s no option to consolidate or off-load notes to free up space and processing power. It has the potential to be one of the best note apps… except for these issues I mentioned. The problem is that there is no way of sorting or organising you files,so you just end up with loads of files and no way to organise, filter or searching for them, creating a real issue once you start using it frequently. ### 4/5 — Love it *2023-10-17, version 6.3* Love this app, especially love the simplicity and app icon. Please make it so I can share pages across my devices!!! ### 4/5 — Delivers What Is Advertised — Personal Fave, But There’s Room For Improvement! *2023-01-14, version 6.2* BlankBook may not be for everyone but it was a perfect fit for me. This little app delivers exactly what it advertises—a distraction free blank page with basic writing tools and display customizations. I was specifically on the hunt for a note-taking app that had natural-feeling handwriting. I know that can be different for everyone, but I’d downloaded tons of top-rated, big-label apps (Notability, GoodNotes, even waited for iOS 16.2 so I could try Concepts) and all of them had weird, blobby feeling pens that felt unsteady and extra ‘bleedy’. I did really like the pens and writing in OneNote, but my creativity and motivation was usually zapped within 10 mins after having to create a new notebook, new section, and finally a new page to draft some passages or jot down some ideas. BlankBook’s handwriting feels very similar to OneNote with way less distraction! Critiques My only critiques have already been outlined in other reviews, but I wanted to list a few just as someone who loves the app and would love to see it improve. -copy and pasting images -zoom also scales page background (at least for lines and grids) -Edit allows user to select multiple pages at once instead of just one at time to delete Other Suggestions -Grouping for pages (similar to Procreate’s ‘stacking’ feature) ### 3/5 — it's ok *2022-11-25, version 6.2* The app is cool and intuitive don't get me wrong, I could sink a lot of time into using it but it wants me to pay 8$ and it doesn't even have an undo button. ### 2/5 — There’s Potential, but.. *2022-11-05, version 6.2* There is something very buggy about the app that turned me off. I was using it a lot during the summer for planning and mapping out stuff (which was great because of the unlimited space) BUT! I took a break to focus more on my academics when the semester started. About maybe 3-4 months later after not using the app, it wouldn’t open and I wanted to access my work from the summer and the app would immediately close when trying to open. I left it at that for a week and tried again - same thing. Frustrated, I deleted the app and reinstalled it and of course there was no backup or save system integrated so I ended up losing everything. It was months worth of work and was excited to use it more and more, but the amount of progress and work that I lost was enough for me to never use the app again. I had also paid for the premium feature which technically was a waste of money for me, so that’s cool too. Those of which I have been building on for the past several months. Low and behold one day I go to open BlankBook and to my horror ALL MY NOTE WERE GONE! I see a few folks have reached a similar fate. The help reads more like an intro into Tau or mysticism rather than something that gets to the point of how to use it. ### 1/5 — SCAM *2021-11-05, version 6.1* I use this app for writing notes in my classes at university and one morning it stopped working. To resolve this, I deleted the app and re-downloaded. However, it wouldn’t restore my previous purchase of premium and it won’t allow me to open settings or the help feature. This is extremely frustrating and I’ll be taking my business elsewhere. This app does exactly as mentioned. ### 5/5 — Clean and simple *2021-09-18, version 6.1* This is a really clean and simple but effective app. It has some features that other note apps seem to miss out on such as the two finger taps to undo. Honestly a priority for my workflow. I would love to have the option to change light/dark mode within the app itself. I use dark mode and am usually fine with apps that correspond with that but with note taking I do prefer a light mode/white paper. I would also like to be able to change the default colours in the tool section so I wouldn’t have to keep clicking the custom colour to use my colours. I know there’s the saved tools which is great but I use more than three colours at once. All in all, a really good app. Very keen to keep using this, especially if there’s some form of back up coming in the future. I really like how you can change the way the paper looks, and the different types of pens. I only use it for math but it could be good for many other things.
