### 1/5 — Local Storage Constantly Breaks

*2026-08-25, version 59.0*

Update: The system is completely unusable now and the local storage clips disappear completely, never to be seen again. Why, when I own the video doorbell and the sync module? It’s obviously the app that is doing this as it happens every time there’s an update, like recently. Open the clips and it wants to default to cloud clips 3 or 4 times before it will stick on local storage. I totally regret this purchase and this has been a horrible experience. I’m an experienced IT guy so I know it’s not my very high speed, high quality, internet/local network.

I’ve been using for a year now. If using local storage, every time there’s an app update, or also at random times, it breaks and stops uploading your videos. You’ll still get the notifications and everything will seem normal, but the videos disappear into the ether, never to return. You have to do some combination of unplugging and replugging in the sync module, logging out and into the app, deleting and downloading again the app, or all of the above. At this point it seems like a ploy to try and force you into a subscription.

### 1/5 — No Live View

*2026-08-25, version 59.0*

Day #5 no live view I spent 6 hours on the phone between Blink and My internet provider each pointing the finger at each other! I’ve been in every forum and tried every trick and reset nothing is working! This is utter garbage

### 2/5 — Fix this one issue and it would be perfect

*2026-08-25, version 59.0*

Does not send notifications no matter what you do. My daughter also has the same issue at her home as well.

### 1/5 — Notifications have been glitched for over three months

*2026-08-25, version 59.0*

Duplicate notifications when schedule notifications arrive, at which point the watch app will send a notification one by one for every clip you haven’t viewed yet. Terribly annoying.

### 1/5 — Worse than one star

*2026-08-25, version 59.0*

This system is a joke. It won’t even connect to my basic spectrum router even after going into the settings and changing it to a 2.4 ghz.

### 3/5 — No multi-view?

*2026-08-25, version 59.0*

It’s 2026, why on earth can we not see multiple cameras at one time?! Random off-brand apps have had this feature for years

### 2/5 — Can barely use app anymore!

*2026-08-24, version 59.0*

I’ve paid for yearly subscriptions for years, but since June; the App barely works! It crashes all the time. When it’s not crashing, it’s throwing error messages and then just “freezes”. I’m using an iPhone 14 and really irritated that all of this started right after I renewed. Now the app crashes within 5 seconds of trying to open it.

### 3/5 — Difficult

*2026-08-24, version 59.0*

Although they are generally reliable, they occasionally experience unexpected outages. Despite being connected via WiFi, power outlets, and other devices, they may still remain offline. Additionally, one of my new cameras lacks a motion sensor, which fails to notify me of any movement. Furthermore, the video feed from the cameras is delayed when accessed.

### 1/5 — Pathetic

*2026-08-24, version 59.0*

Most unreliable app I have ever used. To be clear I use local storage because Amazon can stuff their subscription prices. Easily half the time you try to view a clip it errors, or just spins interminably. Live view works, but can be delayed until it’s no longer needed.

### 3/5 — Decent

*2026-08-24, version 59.0*

The app is easy to use, but definitely has some limitations. I would really love to see a timer addition- where I could set it to turn on and off at specific times so I don’t have to rely on my memory. Also the privacy is a good idea, but it needs to be more of a highlighter than squares. That reduces the detail of the area I want to block out of view of the camera, and honestly makes the whole feature unuseful.

### 1/5 — Great hardware ruined by an unnecessarily bad local storage experience

*2026-08-24, version 59.0*

I’ve used Blink cameras for years and recently expanded my system with newer cameras and another Sync Module. After my 30 day subscription trial ended, I decided to use the local storage functionality that Blink advertises.

I expected to lose cloud specific features. That is completely reasonable. Cloud storage, AI processing, and other online services cost money to provide, and I have no problem with Blink charging for them.

What I did not expect was for basic functionality in the app to disappear simply because my recordings are being stored locally.

Local storage clips have no thumbnail previews. There is no clear indication showing which clips have or have not been viewed. You cannot select multiple individual clips to delete them. Edit mode essentially gives you the option to delete everything. If you have more than one Sync Module, the recordings are also separated by storage device, so you have to keep switching between them rather than seeing all of your camera events together.

These may sound like small things until you actually use a security camera system. If your cameras record dozens of events throughout the day, not being able to quickly see which clips you have already reviewed becomes incredibly frustrating.

What bothers me most is that these do not seem like features that inherently require cloud storage. I purchased the cameras, purchased the Sync Modules, and supplied my own local storage. Basic clip management, thumbnails, and viewed or unviewed indicators should be part of a good local software experience.

I completely understand Blink wanting to sell subscriptions. Charge customers for cloud backup, extended video history, advanced AI detection, intelligent search, and other genuinely premium services. Those are legitimate reasons to subscribe.

But there is a big difference between making the paid experience better and making the non subscription experience unnecessarily inconvenient.

Ironically, this strategy has had the opposite effect on me. Instead of making me want to purchase a Blink subscription, it makes me question whether I want to continue buying Blink products at all.

I otherwise like the cameras, which makes this particularly disappointing. Blink could have an excellent local storage system with a few basic software improvements. Give local users thumbnails, viewed and unviewed indicators, proper multi select clip management, and a unified event list. Then make the subscription worth buying by offering genuinely premium features on top of that.

I would have been happy to continue expanding my Blink system. After experiencing how local storage is handled, however, I will seriously consider a different camera ecosystem when it is time to replace my equipment.

### 1/5 — Do not buy!!!

*2026-08-23, version 59.0*

Do not buy! The batteries are dead within 10 days. If somebody rings the bell the notification is not working. It works only if you enable ALL the notifications and even so, it says “motion” instead of “somebody is at the door”. The low battery notifications appears 2 days later! Absolutely do not buy!

### 1/5 — Can’t add a device with most recent update.

*2026-08-23, version 59.0*

Would normally give the app a passing 3-4 stars, but with this new update it cannot process adding a device which is a complete failure.

### 2/5 — Cheap for a reason

*2026-08-23, version 59.0*

The app is slow asf. The camera glitches everyday. The app never loads the damn camera. Ur paying for a cheap knockoff ofc it’s gonna have problems. Switch to ring and save u the hassle of a slow O.S.

### 3/5 — Fix it

*2026-08-23, version 59.0*

Please fix this app. Every time I open the app it always say network error and I can’t view my cameras I deleted the app and installed it back just for it to work a few days and then the same thing happens. Fix it

### 1/5 — 30 days kick out

*2026-08-23, version 59.0*

Unfortunately we use it to look after our apartment but the system likes to kick us out after 30 days and won’t let us in the app for longer duration. We have people who don’t remember passwords so this is most troubling when OTP is needed. It’s super frustrating.

### 1/5 — Fix it

*2026-08-23, version 59.0*

App won’t even open.

### 1/5 — Still have 2 non usable cameras

*2026-08-22, version 59.0*

Still have 2 non usable cameras. Customer service is horrendous at best. And don’t pay for the AI.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — It can never load

*2026-08-26, version 59.0*

I have good moments but more bad moments when trying to view my cameras. It will just think and think and think until you have to reboot and it will continue to do the same over and over, even with solid WiFi. What’s truly the purpose of this things cannot stay true to its word and. Record something or even protect? I only kept it because it was gifted to us. Other than that, I would have looked elsewhere. It just seems it wants to work when it wants to, and then act horribly the remainder of the time. Can’t even get into my camera 90% of the time. Absolute garbage.

### 1/5 — Worst Service Ever

*2026-08-26, version 59.0*

I’ve had these cameras for over a month now and since day one I’ve had issues with each and every one of them every time I call nobody seems to know what they’re doing. They’re always having a place me on hold and keep me on mute for periods of time every time I call, they gave me a different excuse as to why my system is not working they’re constantly provider I’ve had my Internet service provider come out to my house several times and they Make sure that their system is not the issue so I end up calling Blink back and they always give me a different excuse every time I call back experience this is the worst experience I have ever had in my life. I don’t feel secure with these product. It’s absolutely ridiculous that you have people that don’t know what they’re doing when you call. They always come up with something different. Sending you replacement parts telling you something else is wrong instead of the last rep told you this is absolutely horrible.

### 1/5 — Would not recommend

*2026-08-25, version 59.0*

Would not recommend don’t plan on using them if you use a vpn

### 1/5 — DON'T BUY ANYTHING BLINK, CanNot Count On Critical Videos Being There After 12 Hours

*2026-08-25, version 59.0*

MINUS 3-Stars AND IN FREE FALL
AUG 2026
Latest update broke app on iPhone 17 w/latest iOS. App won’t launch or it launches and quits in a millisecond.
JAN 2026 I have fewer them 400 videos and they are deleting them at less than 12 hours. Don’t buy Blink.
DEC 2025 I guess enough people complained that they've decided to give back the account badge. That's nice. With the last update they have started deleting your videos every 18 hours instead of 24 hours. Saying they let you keep them for 60 days is total BS.
OCT2025 They got rid of the video count badge on the icon. For $120 per year you should know how many, if any, videos you have.
THE LATEST UPDATE: The latest update put something at the top of the screen that will not go away. This is a mobile app there isn't much space to see our Blink camera list screen anyway.
This thing, whatever it is, has two large thick full-screen-width category boxes with Start in one box and End in the other. They must be trying to make us stop using our cameras.
Don't worry Blink, We Will Stop Using OUR Cameras. When these die we will be replacing them with a different brand.

### 1/5 — Loading

*2026-08-25, version 59.0*

If you do not pay for the service its abysmal I have a janky no name camera system that I had planned on replacing with blink but since the subscription expired I cannot get any of my camera to load up its constant loading matter of fact its loading while I write this review so I know its not my service do not use these cameras there’s much better options that actually load when your trying to see them had someone ringing my doorbell earlier by the time I got the dam thing to open they had been gone for 10 mins crazy poor connection for non subscription…..

### 1/5 — Get a better device

*2026-08-25, version 59.0*

Impossible to set up on your own.

### 1/5 — I hate you blink

*2026-08-25, version 59.0*

The cameras NEVER work and fail to load at the most inconvenient times. I can’t express my frustration.

### 1/5 — constantly loading

*2026-08-25, version 59.0*

please fix this. It’s so random and god forbid I need to view it in an emergency 😒

### 1/5 — Absolute garbage

*2026-08-25, version 59.0*

It never opens, and will just sit there and buffer and buffer and buffer. I’ve had several moments where I’m concerned about something that’s happening - notably a FIRE near my house - and the app wouldn’t open. And when it finally does the cameras won’t load. I’ve contacted blink and confirmed it is not a camera issue nor is it a WiFi issue. It’s an app issue. Nothing has been fixed - in fact it’s gotten worse over time. What’s the point in having cameras if it takes over 30 minutes and 2 soft resets to get the app to open to view them?

### 1/5 — Last update broke everything

*2026-08-25, version 59.0*

Last firmware update bricked up my sync module 2!
I have way too much money invested to have everything gone from an update!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — My life line

*2026-08-25, version 59.0*

I am usually not the type of person to want cameras around me but after someone tried to break in my home I had to protect my family and these small cameras came in handy no commercials while I look at my camera now that is what I cared about the most and I can talk through all the devices and see who is at my doorbell through Alexa no complaints here I don’t care about the subscription plan you can purchase it or not but I purchased it for my safety

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-08-23, version 59.0*

Five stars

### 5/5 — Confidant and safe

*2026-08-22, version 59.0*

I feel safe that no one can come to my home without my knowledge. I love that I can also talk to anyone that comes to my door or the back of my home.

### 5/5 — Great Camera System

*2026-08-22, version 59.0*

Easy to install and simple to operate.

### 5/5 — Refreshing the screen

*2026-08-21, version 59.0*

There seems to be an issue with refreshing the screen, most of the time it requires refreshing two to three times to get an updated image

### 5/5 — Great

*2026-08-18, version 58.3*

I like it

### 5/5 — Love the system-req. 1 added feature

*2026-08-18, version 58.3*

Love the system and easy to set up. Thanks to QR codes and the app step by step directions.

One thing I would like to see added to the recording side of things, add a 30 second or 10 second pre detection of motion/doorbell would be awesome. On all devices. Idk if this is coming with new devices as an option or already in the works but is a nice feature on other items I use for other tasks for work or recreation recording.

### 5/5 — Safety

*2026-08-17, version 58.3*

I love how I can feel safe. Seeing if someone comes to my foots or windows. The security I feel is amazing. Never will I regret getting this.

### 5/5 — Blink

*2026-08-16, version 58.3*

Reasonable yearly price!
Great camera coverage of my house.

### 5/5 — ❤️

*2026-08-14, version 58.3*
