Blip is a free app for BrightHR customers. It lets you easily track your employees’ work hours and locations on the go. Here’s how it works: Geolocation Use the app to create a geofence—a virtual boundary—around your workplace. Then, when your employees enter or leave the geofence, Blip picks up their location and asks them to clock in or out, helping you to know exactly where your staff have worked and how long for. QR codes Alternatively, you can use Blip’s smart scanning system to record your employees’ work hours instead. Your staff use Blip to scan a QR code—a type of barcode—when they arrive and leave work. Then, each time they scan the code, Blip will register them as clocked in or out. It’s that simple. Breaks Blip makes it easy to track breaks, too. At the tap of a button, your staff can log the start and end of their breaks, so you can see how long and how often they take downtime. The BrightHR Team. ### 2/5 — Errors here & there *2026-02-15* Sometimes the clock in button doesn’t work, and when I tapped it again, it will clock me out (and the same way round). And it keeps logging me out for some reason, and once I was logged out twice in a day, my time wasn’t recorded properly. And the UI is not very user friendly either. The BrightHR Team. ### 5/5 — Great app *2026-01-23, version 4.27.4* Easy to use no problems encountered when clocking in or out ### 2/5 — Clock in is off the clock *2025-11-27* About half the time the clock in button doesn’t work. ### 1/5 — Using another app *2025-07-23* - Difficult to accurately record hours, esp overtime and if lunch was actually taken - Awkward system amending times if you forgot to clock in/out. - thought geofencing would clock you in/out which might make things easier but it doesn’t. - have to be connected to WiFi/internet to work - overall just not employee friendly, so using another app to manually input my hours and especially overtime. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2025-07-15* Won’t let me clock in ### 1/5 — Not so good *2025-04-02* Frustrating problems when changing time zones/ GMT/BST,Blip requirement to clock out to change time zone,then unable to clock back in because out of range of the geo fence zone! No good for a mobile workforce! Drains phone battery even when GPS is switched off. Can easily see fellow workers home addresses on the map. Drove past a fellow workers home address, and then received a blip notification that “I was entering their home address” The last two issues must surely be a breach of GDPR laws.
