I would be happy to support the developer, (if you remember me Stefan I contacted you shortly after you released Block & Flow as a fellow dev,) and it would make total sense if the upgrade offered more features. Sadly, it’s misleading. Pro isn’t an “option” that is “offered” as per the description- it is now a “necessity” that is REQUIRED. You can’t even try a single block without paying. I felt the earlier version in which one had to pay to access history or history over X days, whichever it was, and possibly to use iCloud or export their data, (it’s been awhile so I might be mistaken on the latter,) was fair and reasonable, and it’s still a really nice little app- but I’m sad to see how misleading the description is now- if I recall you live outside of the US, but it’s a law here that you need to clearly state if a purchase, (outright or subscription,) is required to use a product, along with whether it’s a one time fee or a subscription, and depending on the state you also need to list the actual cost to the user. (Not including tax, provided you specify “plus tax” or similar.) I am going to subscribe for 1 year when I post this in order to support you as a developer. I feel you and this app have promise as I told you when I reached out years back- but I sincerely hope you will work on the app some more in order to provide a free basic version and a paid version, or else improve it further as you state the subscription money is supposed to support more development. Please change the description to be honest- Apple isn’t going to pull the app unless someone directly brings it to their attention, and you’ll be able to get it back up just by changing the description to include a disclosure a purchase/subscription is required to use the app, as there’s no free/basic version any longer- but I hope you will fix this yourself prior to that happening as it’s dishonest. I love the goals and the colours etc, but the only thing I would say is it would be good to be able to have 2 goals tracked independent but falling under the same “area/colour”. I would really like to see a watch app or complication that syncs well. As someone who finds it quite difficult to focus on homework this app was a godsend as I really liked the simplicity and effectiveness of such an app. I used this app everyday and probably did and average of 8-9 blocks a day, it allowed me to be productive in a way I’d never been before. I can now not access the app unless I buy a subscription. I probably overlooked the small print, but there was no warning that my free trial was nearing the end. Being a high school student, I can’t afford a subscription to this app. I think that it would be very useful to many high school students but probably many like me would not be able to subscribe. This is probably the best timer app there is on the App Store, but now I will have to find a subpar app to continue with, as I am simply broke. ### 2/5 — USED to be my favorite app *2019-06-29, version 2.0.5* I paid for the upgrade and full version years ago which was supposed to be a one time purchase. Now I can't even do the basic version without paying a relatively high subscription fee. That is incredibly bad service for those that have been with you and bought it under old terms and conditions. I read a long response from the developer about 1000 true fans etc but I think he is also missing the fact that there are free apps out there and if you want to go viral it needs to be shared widely. I fully support and pay for apps that offer a free limited version and then a paid more fancy version. But this development in inordinately increasing the price for even those of us who paid for the full version years ago is bad business and I can't in good faith recommend them again. I used to even advertise this app in my lectures on productivity and to my grad students but no more. What I will say is he refunded me two years of the paid subscription as an offer of good faith. No blame on Dev or Customer. • The free times-trial address that issue. • Some of us just can’t take the chance of an App not working for us without at least a short or limited item trial. (Especially after trying so many Apps.) • The conversion to paid subscription is easier for the Customer to integrate the App into to their lifestyle and workflow after they’ve used it in an environment of reality. • OUTSTANDING Customer service; excellent communication by Dev. • Devs have been studied by Internet Scientists from Capitalism-Land and found to require food EVERY DAY, and shelter, and a life with joy, and EVEN compensation for the maintenance and growth of their WORK. • Subscriptions are the future. Thus begins the rude awakening and the time to put on your big-boy pants. • Entitlement whiners (uh, Roogiemeister) need to realize some Devs let you keep your one-time purchase App for ALL eternity; hold it, rub it, talk to it late at night, keep it under a glass dome—and you get what you whine for: the App you bought—but NO UPDATES for you, babycakes. • You whine about a one-time purchase. Only fair that the Dev gives you a ONE-VERSION-ONLY App. You want the updates? • Whiners want to play hardball? Devs can start to sell you the version of the App you bought for that precious price. Sorry, updates not included. • It’s a free market. Do you get FREE new components added to the vehicle you bought LAST YEAR? Or the television? Or the mobile phone? • Lecture students on how to NOT be the latest cogs in the new low-wage tech worker class that Ama Zon and G**gle have created. • GREAT APP. I changed my settings for 15min a task, 3 min break and a 15 long break. But I started noticing It is crashing on my iPhone even after restarts! It started on February 1, 2024 after a timed session. I had to restart my phone. Now it’s completely unusable without a pro subscription. I understand applying a new business model to new customers, but where’s the loyalty for your early, paying customers? How about honoring the purchase agreement that was in place at the time? I held up my end of the bargain. You got my money. ### 1/5 — I loved using this but... *2018-11-25, version 1.4.4* The developer added a new subscription feature to support development of the app. That’s OK unless you purchased the app under a previous agreement. You could’ve done one of two things. First, you could have continued with this app and called it the classic version or something of that nature. You could’ve continue to update it and allowed for further use out of it for those of us who purchased it in good faith and wanted to continue to use it. Failing that and to me what would have been the better option would have been to grandfather everyone in who had already purchased the app under your old agreement. This way, you would’ve had a built-in base that would have advertised the app for you virally. Instead, I’m going to delete the app and go back to using “Forest” which has been upgraded frequently with no additional charges. I had purchased it also but ditched to B & F for reasons I had at the time. Full respect there. But the pricing of these things is crazy, this is not a complex piece of software. If it is really good income can be substantial with enough users. But charging £12 a year EVERY year is ludicrous. Not everyone gets to be Microsoft and enjoy a cosy monopoly. Sorry.
