PLEASE FIX THIS! There needs to be an option or default that keeps you logged in all the time, as this is supposed to be a quick reference resource that providers can access to treat patients effectively and efficiently. ### 1/5 — Can’t log in *2023-07-11, version 1.0.7* Never had opportunity to set up account, get log in screen and can’t open app at all. Useless. Email for help doesn’t work, bounces back. JOKE. ### 1/5 — Worst app ever *2022-07-07, version 1.0.7* This resource is not cheap. I can rarely access it so I don’t even know if the content is good or bad. I’ve had to email them to access it. So if you want a easy access app when you need it, this is the worst. They then delete the original Block Buddy so they can make a “Pro” app that requires an absurd subscription. Imagine buying a computer program, installing it on your computer and then a year later the software designer comes to your house and deletes the program from your computer because he made a new version. Is the new program better? Maybe. Does it have some new bells and whistles? Yea, but you were completely happy with the original program that you bought for a mutually agreed upon fee. This is the downside of digital content. Again, complete nonsense. ### 2/5 — Poor execution *2021-02-12, version 1.0.6* This app doesn’t work most of the time and I have to login via a browser which in and of itself is difficult and defeats the purpose of a mobile app. There are better options out there for regional anesthesia not to mention they want $10 a month for this? ### 1/5 — Refund? *2021-01-30, version 1.0.6* So apparently I can’t access the original app any longer. Where’s my refund? I don’t recall purchasing the app for a limited time period. As others have said, this is a money grab. The original app was great and fairly priced. The content is the equivalent of a 50-page book. Way over-priced at $100/yr for what you get. For $10/mo., the app should turn my phone into portable ultrasound. (Response to developer) We all have and continue to use other apps that don’t cost even a fraction of this one. Vargo provides significantly more information and they’ve managed to get by with charging a one time fee. It was steep, but nothing compared to what one would be paying for this app if one were to keep it long term. And from what I understand, Vargo was much cheaper initially as well... and they didn’t come back and try to shake down previous purchasers for more money. They adjusted the price for future customers. This idea that it’s ok to back out of our agreed upon price after the fact because you provided notice that you were going to do it in advance is absurd. I’m sorry that you discovered that your business model wasn’t as profitable as you had hoped, but this doesn’t justify shady business practices. ### 1/5 — Not worth the money *2020-10-25, version 1.0.6* The original application was great and fairly priced. The new application is bloated and overpriced. I’m disappointed that the company chose to abandon those of us that purchased the original application. Do yourself a favor and use NYSORA or YouTube. These sources are free and the same content can be found with a little preplanning the night before a case. ### 1/5 — Overpriced *2020-09-07, version 1.0.6* $10/month is way too steep for what you get. Especially for those not performing blocks all the time. I preferred the layout of the original BlockBuddy app also. There are other alternatives to this that don’t charge an absurd price and have excellent content. Making it a higher initial one-time fee would be much more reasonable and I would still use it if that was how it was offered. ### 2/5 — Great content, glitchy app...please fix *2020-05-27, version 1.0.6* The content is great- all useful information. I use it frequently. But, For an app that I HAVE TO SUBSCRIBE TO, I shouldn’t have to fumble around with the functionality. For example: when scrolling through a “lesson”, the floating bar at the bottom of the screen doesn’t stay put...it follows the scroll and covers the content you’re attempting to look at. Then a second or two later, the bar drops back down to the bottom of the page. Another example: When writing “notes” into a lesson, I often have trouble adding anything after I do any deleting- that is to say, if I miss-type something and delete it, I can’t write anymore- it just won’t let me add anything else. Also, If I go back to something I’ve just typed, I can’t add anything to it. In either instance, I have to go out of the lesson completely, then come back into the note and edit it. Get the bugs fixed. Or your app will eventually become more bothersome than useful, and I’ll cancel my subscription. There are plenty of other resources out there than don’t cost a dime. ### 2/5 — No downloaded lessons *2019-12-10, version 1.0.6* Great lessons, but ordered primarily for offline functionality. They do not show up. I contacted dev but no reply in over a week. ### 2/5 — Buggy, poor integration of downloadable content *2019-08-19, version 1.0.6* The content is excellent, no complaints there. The downside is that its nearly impossible to quickly access (wasn’t a problem with the first app). Both my Google Chrome browser at home and my google play app exhibit buggy interfaces. I routinely get kicked to the log in screen instead when I click on the “lessons.” I use this app as a means to quickly review a block (anatomy, dosing, etc.) and often am looking to access the material very quickly. So far this “new” app has been a major disappointment. If you have a subscription you ought to be able to select an “Download all” option and have the material immediately accessible without an internet connection. In my opinion this app was released way too early (before all the interface kinks could be worked out). Click on a section and nothing shows up. None of the drop down arrows open anything at all. I’ve contacted customer service and have received nothing in return. It’s embarrassing to know my AANA dues went toward this. It should be working. I would say of the several attempts to use this app (when I need it the most) it has worked 1 time. For the price I paid to use it, definitely not worth the money. Bought the original, then the developer realized they could make even more with monthly subscriptions and screwed over a lot of anesthesia professionals. I just paid for a year only a few months ago. It is comprehensive, easy to follow along, convenient, and extremely informative! It is like taking an entire course on blocks all on its own. It will be a handy go to resource for me as a student and future CRNA! ### 5/5 — You get what you pay for *2019-07-27, version 1.0.6* It was unreasonable to expect such a great app to remain totally free forever. The new Pro app ads more content and the ability to view off line. They are constantly upgrading their content and are responsive to users. Typically I get a response within 1 day. I am happy to pay for up the quality of this app. The cost is insignificant. I use it all the time as a refresher and to reinforce my knowledge. More extensive ultrasound images, more POCUS with ultrasound images and excellent explanations. And now images available offline for remote or austere environments. You don’t even need a block course if you have block buddy pro ! ### 2/5 — Best content, bad App *2024-09-14, version 1.1* PLEASE fix the functionality of this app! The content is the best in the industry. Better than NYSORA, block jocks or god-forbid PNB School app. But the functionality of the app is incredibly bad. Nothing works offline and it tries to sync excessively. I’ve had to repeatedly delete and reinstall the app, which only works sometimes. Now it’s just crashing my iPad. I’ve been using the app for over 4 years because the content is so good, but every time I hold my breath to see if it will launch. Also, after fixing, a little marketing would go a long way. Those other apps are garbage, but have better marketing and social media presence. This one could rule them all after tweaking with some advertising. Godspeed ### 2/5 — Content is good.
