### 3/5 — Nice App

*2026-02-04, version 2.0.0*

Looks kind of outdated but does what it's supposed to do. Does not open Links, because it automatically adds file:// as prefix which leads to broken links. There should be some way to define a folder as 'root' and then go from there w/ linkpaths.

### 5/5 — Underrated

*2026-01-26, version 2.0.0*

man, it is bizarrely difficult to find a good, basic markdown viewer/editor on iOS (let alone a free one). thank you for providing something that can preview files by default from remote drives!

it could use a fresh coat of paint via dark mode and some more themes, but functionality is spot on. 5/5

### 3/5 — Easier editor for OneDrive and others

*2022-12-29, version 2.0.0*

I found it to be easier than another editor I had been using (Byword) for editing files on OneDrive. But I noticed this editor freezes sometimes, and I have to kill the app to get it to respond again.

### 5/5 — Simple. Free. Recommended.

*2022-05-07, version 2.0.0*

I needed a simple md editor/viewer to see some md files on my OneDrive account. I didn’t need anything elaborate or pricey. I don’t use it enough to justify spending a large amount. This fits the bill. If you want something with a ton of features that gets updates, go to one of the paid options. This is good enough.

### 1/5 — Cannot open or create file under google drive

*2022-01-19, version 2.0.0*

Even after I made it offline available. Files are grey and creating file resulting errors.

### 4/5 — Missing Darkmode

*2022-01-06, version 2.0.0*

nice and fast. dark mode would be nice!!!

### 3/5 — Bitte updaten

*2021-11-21, version 2.0.0*

### 4/5 — TOC Support

*2021-08-12, version 2.0.0*

Very easy to use markdown editor and preview. Plz consider to support [TOC] (table of content).

### 5/5 — Great App

*2021-02-24, version 2.0.0*

Love the app. I’m trying to purchase it, but the purchase page is taking too long to come back up, lol. Maybe if I could just go to settings and just pay for it (hopefully that’s not something I’ve just overlooked). UPDATE: Found it, lol.

Some sort of double bracket ( eg. [[file name]] ) support would be excellent. Especially one that auto suggests as you type (like Obsidian).

I’m pretty much looking for a way to access my Obsidian vault on an iPad and work with it more or less the same as I do on the computer.

Oh, maybe a toggle option too, so I can collapse certain sections if I don’t want to look at them while I’m working on a different part of the writing.

Anyway, love the app.

### 3/5 — 다크모드를 지원하면 좋겠네요.

*2020-11-29, version 2.0.0*

프로버전 구입했습니다만 생각보다 괜찮네요.
다만 사용자의 입맛에 맞게 테마를 커스터마이징할 수 있으면 좋겠습니다.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0.0 — 2019-07-26

Markdown Pro is now Blockquote! This version has a ton of new features and fixes! Without further ado, here's what's new:

- [NEW] Syntax highlighting in the editor! Requires the premium upgrade. (Thanks to user feedback!)
- [NEW] Find links to Blockquote's Twitter and Mastodon from the About page in the app.
- [IMPROVED] Settings are now located in the Settings app. You can find a convenient shortcut in Blockquote that will take you right to Blockquote's settings.
- [IMPROVED] Added keyboard shortcuts to toggle LaTeX rendering and syntax highlighting, change the theme, and open Blockquote's settings.
- [IMPROVED] You can now show and hide the Markdown keyboard on iPad by tapping the Symbols button along the top of the keyboard. (Thanks to user feedback!)
- [IMPROVED] New documents are now created as plain text files by default. When creating a new document, you have the option to specify a custom file type.
- [IMPROVED] Now you can compose and send an me an email right from the app. Just go to About > Contact to begin composing an email with the To and Subject fields prefilled for you.
- [IMPROVED] Improvements to LaTeX parsing. Specifically, LaTeX must be enclosed by LaTeX delimiters, such as $, and must be followed by a space. In 99% of normal usage, LaTeX rendering should not behave any differently than it did. This change is only to prevent rendering sequences such as prices as LaTeX.
- [IMPROVED] More informative error dialogs.
- [IMPROVED] Document handling is much more robust. Specifically, Blockquote better handles conflicts. The app is also better at handling situations where a document is being edited and read simultaneously by other apps. That means you can more confidently edit a document in your favorite text-editing app and preview the Markdown in Blockquote all at the same time!
- [IMPROVED] Blockquote now uses markdown-it to process Markdown. This should eliminate most of the bugs that arise from certain uncommon Markdown sequences, such as several consecutive horizontal rules.
- [IMPROVED] A lot of behind-the-scenes improvements. These aren't apparent from using the app, but they set the stage for future improvements!
- [FIXED] LaTeX fonts load properly now. You might have noticed that certain special characters and large brackets weren't rendering correctly. That is now fixed!
- [FIXED] When creating a new file, the file name is no longer automatically capitalized. This was causing problems with hardware keyboards and was not consistent with the behavior of the Files app.
- [FIXED] Changed all references to Markdown Pro to Blockquote.
- [FIXED] Updated contact details.

Note: Due to the rebranding effort, the privacy policy RSS feed has moved to a new URL. Check Blockquote's privacy policy on the web or in the app to get the new link and update your RSS reader.

### 1.2.8 — 2019-05-21

Version 1.2.8 has a ton of new features and bug fixes, some of which were user-requested! Thanks for all of the feedback, and keep it coming!

The changes can be grouped under three main categories: LaTeX fixes, Markdown keyboard improvements, and general bug fixes.

IMPROVED:
- The Markdown keyboard is way less jumpy and buggy. Let me know how it works for you!
- The Markdown keyboard now shows large keys when used on an iPad. No more pecking at tiny keys!
- Added a backslash key to the Markdown keyboard.
- Updated the symbols on the Markdown keyboard button so they aren't so large and obnoxious as before.
- Many users have contacted me to ask me to improve LaTeX functionality - I hear you loud and clear! LaTeX rendering has been overhauled and is much more robust now. If you find any more LaTeX rendering bugs, please let me know!
- Added VoiceOver support for various buttons and controls.
- Better management of document state means editing documents is safer than ever.
- If a document is locked (either because another app is accessing it or because the text encoding could not be detected), the background of the editor turns ever-so-slightly gray to remind you that it is locked. Of course, you'll still get a notification when a document is locked.
- More descriptive error messages when a document cannot be opened.
- Turned off horizontal scroll in the editor.

FIXED:
- The ellipsis character now renders properly in the preview screen. (Thanks to user feedback!)
- Underscores are now properly rendered in LaTeX. (Thanks to user feedback!)
- Fixed how the app registers the files that it can edit. iOS should recognize it as an editor for plain text files (.txt) now. (Thanks to user feedback!)
- Updated contact details in the Contact screen.

If you like the update, please leave a review! I really do take user feedback into account, so let me know your thoughts!

Until next time!

### 1.1.7 — 2018-12-21

- IMPROVED: A slight delay to the Markdown preview generation has been added so that it doesn't continuously generate a preview for fast typists. This significantly improves the app's performance, especially for fast typists, since the preview is refreshed only when the user isn't actively changing the document. If you want the preview to be generated immediately when the document is changed, you can turn this behavior on in the in-app settings.
- IMPROVED: The upgrade prompt doesn't show up as often!
- NEW: A review prompt will now show up very infrequently after you've closed a document. You can turn these prompts off in your device's settings. Open the Settings app and go to iTunes & App Store, and turn off In-App Ratings & Reviews.

If you like or want to see improvements to Markdown Pro, please leave a review! It really helps, and I'd love to hear your thoughts!

### 1.1.4 — 2018-12-14

Introducing keyboard shortcuts! Markdown is designed for keyboard use, and now so is Markdown Pro. Use keyboard shortcuts to quickly switch between the editor and preview, manage the keyboard focus, and close the document.
If you like or want to see improvements to Markdown Pro, please leave a review! It really helps!

Other improvements and fixes:
- IMPROVED: Subtle touches to the scroll indicator in the editor should make scrolling and editing feel more natural.
- FIXED: The editor is less jumpy when you tap to edit right after you open a document.
- FIXED: There was a strange bug that would, in rare cases, prevent the editor from scrolling all the way to the bottom of the document. This is now fixed.

### 1.0.1 — 2018-12-03

Fixed in-app purchases
