Comment sections are as equal of a problem as shorts are. The app is unable to block the comment sections out despite checking if everything is in place and refreshing the pages over and over again. You can see videos under subscriptions, but shorts show up so it’s not doing anything there. If you click the shorts tab at the bottom shorts play, but that’s not really a downside. The problem is it doesn’t do anything to block shorts. The best I can tell it only blocks the home feed completely but nothing else changes. **Developer response:** Hello, the “Home” tab is blocked fully if recommendation blocking is enabled. Try switching to “Subscriptions”. If you can’t see the videos there either, I would appreciate if you could report the issue via email for further investigation. Update: In order to enable Shorts blocking, please follow the instructions in the BlockYT app under “Block Shorts” section. Due to technical nuance it requires a few extra steps to enable. I deleted TikTok and Instagram a couple months ago, hoping to stop this short form content addiction, but I simply just transitioned to YT shorts, it’s annoying there is no way to disable shorts in app as I use YouTube a lot for educational stuff or DIY. That said, this extension works perfectly on safari and completely removes YT shorts. I also find myself getting in meaningless arguments in comment sections,or scrolling through recommendations for ages - you can also block these with the extension. It takes some fiddling but I have an iPhone and after 5 minutes it was all setup. Delete YouTube and use the one in Safari.
