I’m a huge horror fan & always on the hunt for new or obscure movies to check out & this app always delivered, until recently. There used to be a simple ad here & there, no big deal but recently they have added tons of new ads that appear before every single article you read!! And they are the worst kind of ads, the ones that trick you by putting an x in the corner that doesn’t actually close the ad but instead open your browser & being you to their page instead, It’s completely obnoxious & VERY annoying. I just tried to read 3 articles & every single one of them did this. You have to click the fake x in order for the real x to work & close the ad. I feel up to date on upcoming horror related stuff. I’m fairly happy with the way most of it is written. I’m not a writer so I can’t really say much about that. Some articles however, I don’t feel are horror related but eh who cares really. What I really want to get into the the design. I have an iPhone 13 Pro. Keep in mind these are all nit-picky and really not THAT important. Just something that bothers me while scrolling. The app does feel like it’s made for my phone size. The UI for the logo on top just covers the articles when scrolling. The ad bar at the bottom is just floating there so you can see the article underneath and above. It kinda feels like they took the person who made the mobile website and told them to port it to an app instead of actually creating something that would work as an app. That being said, disqus. Disqus is the 3rd party system they use for leaving comments on articles. Idk if it’s a me problem or what but I am having an absolutely dreadful time trying to get my account to work on there. I signed up, and am in a constant state of loading and still acts as if I’m not logged in. Also when you click to leave a comment, that area is riddled with ads, mix matching colors because it’s a 3rd party, a really ugly “your comment” stuck on the top of the screen in a different font than the rest of the app. I honestly wish they went back to the profile style they used to have and just fixed leaving comments instead of working with a really terrible company. Good movies transcend the need for identity politics, but I guess freelance hacks and 1st year college students don’t grasp that before writing this nonsense. Also, reviews seem to be moderated and anti-woke ones don’t seem to be published - go figure….
