The app wants you to do everything its way; you can’t read sections until you have read the preceding questions and you can’t answer the questions you want to initially. This is annoying but bearable if this is your only method of learning but somewhat rage inducing if you have been other materials (e.g. just want to focus on sentence correction as you know this is a weakness). Also no landscape view on iPad!? ### 2/5 — Glitchy? *2018-11-20, version 3.1.2* The content seems good so I am disappointed that I've not been able to use the app much. When I have the option to select an answer from a drop-down menu it closes before I have a chance to click. I wonder if this would maybe not happen on an iPad though ### 4/5 — Great app, but missing progress bar *2018-01-30* The app is great and it translates the really helpful Economist algorithm nicely. I like having the ability to pull it out during lunch or any other periods of down time during the day. My one complaint is that you don’t see the same progress measure as you do on the home screen of the desktop version. But add landscape mode for iPad. ### 3/5 — Crazy Expensive *2017-11-29* Was a great tool to use until it asked you to pay $800-$1000 for the rest of the app... The exam doesn’t even cost that much😳 ### 3/5 — Overall, it's great but there's one issue with the current version... *2017-09-26* On the app, when reading questions, there's a tiny clock hovering over the question blocking key information. This is particularly annoying when trying to answer math questions. Only workaround is to guess on the question so that it appears on the lower half of the page ### 4/5 — Great app, but too expensive *2015-08-19, version 2.0.4* I absolutely loved the app, but it is way expensive after the trial. Also, the constant sales emails are annoying. ### 1/5 — Deceptive, misleading *2015-03-26, version 2.0.4* Be warned: this is not really an app; it's better described as adware. The only thing you get when you download this app is the dubious benefit of having your name added to a mailing list in order to receive ads to buy what you think you are getting when you download this alleged app. ### 2/5 — Good but very expensive!!! *2014-10-01, version 2.0.4* After the 7 day trial, one would need to pay a 3 month subscription fee, starting at $750. I would, except that I can't afford the price tag. I live on a budget. For an app that accompanies a $900 price tag, truly unbelievable. ### 1/5 — $800 in the trash *2019-02-23* If u r stupid enough to decide to pay $800 like I was, please don’t. There’s a 3 months time limit for $800... I just am so disappointed I’m not going to get into it, but its not worth $800. Enjoy the free trial, but don’t be fooled into purchasing it. There are other GMAT practice courses much cheaper and better. For $800, I cannot even access practice questions directly. Goodluck. ### 1/5 — Horrible *2018-04-06* Once you subscribe many of the features you’re paying for are not available on the phone including ask-a-tutor and tutoring sessions. This is a simple app...no reason not to offer those on mobile. ### 1/5 — Why fix something that works so well and break it in the process *2017-02-10* Crappy updates. Don't update if you still have 2016 version. I don't know what they r trying to achieve with the 2017 updates. I don't see the upgrade at all. Feel more like downgrade. Super long loading time for lessons. No more suggestions after lesson is over. No feed backs for lessons done. The questions given are repetitive and feels random. I've tried it for the past week or two. It's less user friendly and doesn't generate continuous lessons as did the old version. Less helpful and doesn't have smooth continuity from the desktop lessons. Please convert back to the previous version. It just shuts down as soon as it opens ### 1/5 — Works Well in Theory *2016-01-28, version 2.0.4* The adaptive method is good in theory, but it's incredibly easy to click the wrong choice by accident even on a large iPad screen, and the "how sure are you" question prevents you from changing your answer. Then, the app adapts and thinks you aren't proficient at a concept and forces you to spend more time on it. ### 1/5 — Fails to make price clear *2015-10-18, version 2.0.4* Costs $1000 to use after seven days, incredibly bad practice for economist not to declare this upfront ### 1/5 — Offers nothing *2015-06-30* I assumed that given the close relationship that the economist has with the mba scene, that this would be a useful prep app for gmat. I assumed wrongly. I think I may have found 1 question in the hour or so that I've been playing around in it. It's predominantly a filler app to tell you about what the gmat is - ie all the things you can find out when you Google "what is the gmat". Pretty disappointed from the Economist, but it's free so I guess I'm not crying any tears. *delete and start again* ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Excelent *2017-08-18* The app is awesome, it helped me a lot in my study. Awesome algorithm, it allows me to learn at my own pace, it keeps me engaged and it gives you a feeling that the learning process is personalized just for you. It walks you right through the material and makes it a lot easier and more entertaining that just reading a book. It's great for on the run and you can cover one topic in a short amount of time ### 5/5 — Fantastic App *2017-01-21, version 3.0.0* I have always been bad at Maths and I'm now facing the GMAT, sadly no escape. This app was recommended and I must say, it's the best thing since sliced bread. It breaks down concepts into little bits and even provides short cuts. Amazing and I highly recommend. ### 5/5 — Very good *2016-10-20, version 2.0.5* Great app. Free trial lasts a week and covers 20% of the lessons. Expensive program if you choose to upgrade. I think this is the best GMAT test prep program available ### 5/5 — Best resource.. For 2nd timers. *2015-11-01* Amazing platform.. Reliable corporation.. --- I said this on day one and I still say it today: "you will not go wrong working with the Economist Corp." --- I am an international student. I was studying for 3 months (2-3 hours p/day) and got a score of 350. Later on, I subscribed to this platform and completed 70% of the course and my score was improved by 150 points.. in about 2 months (2-3 hours p/day) --- Basically this platform teaches you exactly what the GMAT is all about. --- I highly recommend this platform, especially for non native speakers like myself. Good luck! ### 5/5 — Helped me score a 720! *2015-10-10* I tried several approaches to studying for the GMAT and ultimately found The Economist app to be the best. It is very user-friendly, high quality, adapts to your weaknesses, and is easy to use on the go. For anyone with a busy schedule who also needs to find time to study for the GMAT this will prove to be a great resource and study tool.
