### 2/5 — End-of-ride photo doesn’t work on iPad.

*2026-06-28*

I travel with a cellular-enabled iPad, not an iPhone. The app downloaded, installed, and opened fine. It let me buy a monthly subscription and unlock a bike. But at the end of the ride Blue Bikes requires a photo, and each time I tried the app would kick me out. (Yes, I’d given it access to the camera.) So after each ride I’d have to contact support to have them end the ride. That usually worked, although sometimes they were slow about it. If the app doesn’t work with iPads they should say so up-front, and not let us purchase subscriptions that way.

### 3/5 — Pretty expensive

*2026-04-22, version 1.0.603*

Pretty expensive

### 1/5 — Charged hidden fees

*2025-12-31*

I am in NOLA for the week and decided to use Blue Bikes. Even bought a 30 day pass. Initially, app and bike access was easy but immediately started getting charged fees for ending a ride outside a “service hub”. I was within the service zone but each time I ended the ride a notice pops up stating that if I choose to end the ride outside a “service hub” I will be charged an extra $2.00. I contacted the company but only have email as an option. They initially sent back a generic copy and past response about the service zone and hub but didn’t mention what the service hub is or where they are located or designated on the app. They then sent another reply after several back and forths that the hubs are where bikes are located on the app. So, seems they are charging customers for riding in the proper service area but not ending rides where other bikes are parked. This makes little sense given you are free to ride anywhere within the service area. I use bike share apps and programs when I travel and this app and company should reassess this practice which essentially make this program limited in terms of practical riding area.

### 2/5 — Broke bikes everywhere

*2025-10-03*

I live in Metaire I took my two girls to go ride bikes. They did not bring their phones. They are 13 and 18 and I could not get all three bikes on my account. Is there a way to do that? So we went back a second day with all of our phones, but we could not find after looking at five different blue bike stations in mid city. We only found two bikes that actually workedso I had to walk back this was Saturday. Our bikes being repaired. Is there a shortage of bikes?

### 1/5 — Terrible user experience

*2025-09-06, version 1.0.519*

Dead bikes and being charged extra every time app crashes.

### 1/5 — HORRIBLE

*2025-09-03, version 1.0.518*

Never any bikes available

### 1/5 — App fails to load with a stream of error messages

*2025-08-28, version 1.0.518*

Be nice to take advantage of these bikes in New Orleans - too bad the app is not functional

### 1/5 — App

*2025-07-29, version 1.0.512*

Make a ride together option so people can put as many bikes as they want on a ride before paying for one and being told they can’t use another one.

### 4/5 — Hate the Update

*2025-07-21*

I love Blue Bikes. I’ve been riding them for over two years and find them very convenient. However, the newest update doesn’t allow one to see the power percentage on the map screen. This feature is super important to prevent a rider from renting a bike that is nearly dead and not being able to complete their ride or having to pedal a bike with a low battery which is nearly impossible. Please replace this feature. Everything else is great.

### 1/5 — Not very clear about the pricing

*2025-04-30*

I took my first blue bike ride here in New Orleans and it just wasn’t clear to me that if I just stopped riding and was visiting with a friend that the clock would be still running and then I ended up being charged quite a bit realizing now that would’ve been better to just get a month-long $25 membership or something when I tried to contact customer service they did not get back to me by email asking them to take that first ride and put it toward the $25 membership …It was $40 for that first ride. Didn’t feel like that was very fair. Maybe Customer Service will get back to me. I highly doubt it.

### 1/5 — Bikes not at location?

*2025-04-25, version 1.0.483*

The map consistently shows bikes that are just not there at all. Totally useless and a waste of time. Don’t rely on Blue Bikes to get around in NOLA.

### 1/5 — Bike not operational

*2025-04-07, version 1.0.480*

Not working no charge

### 1/5 — Bad user experience

*2025-03-05, version 1.0.470*

When
You’re trying to
End
The

It

Doesn’t

### 1/5 — Glitchy/worthless

*2025-03-02, version 1.0.470*

Rarely can you even find one available to use, but when you do, the app won’t work. Zero stars.

### 2/5 — Glitchy useless app

*2024-12-02*

I love the idea of blue bikes and used to have a subscription, but the app so frequently glitches and fails to connect that it’s useless for actual transportation. I’ve had several occasions where I stood on a street corner for ten minutes trying to unlock, before giving up and calling a Lyft. Sometimes the app glitches when you’re trying to end a ride, and then you’re forced to email customer support and hope they reverse an insane charge. About 1/10 of the bikes have wonky brakes or something else wrong, and there’s no way to know before you unlock. The bikes were much better pre-pandemic before they were electric, the current company does not maintain them well.

### 1/5 — Overcharging

*2024-10-14*

Got overcharged $2 for out of hub when I left bike at hub. Also the bikes have really hard tires and you feel every bump. The electric bike is very fast !! Too fast. It’s on or off and on is full speed. Nice idea overall to have accessible bikes but they charge about $30/hour and get $10 holding fee on credit card which they reverse I can get self powered bike for $30/day from local shop I’ll try it to c how it goes

### 3/5 — Ok when it works

*2024-09-28, version 1.0.437*

I got a good distance away on my ebike then the e part failed😥

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

*2026-05-02, version 1.0.606*

On a scale of A to F, this was a Z

### 1/5 — GARBAGE

*2026-04-11, version 1.0.599*

### 1/5 — Worst bikeshare app in all cities I’ve been to

*2026-04-08, version 1.0.599*

Worst bikeshare App I used ever in all coties. No navigation function. I ended up outside service zone but I didn’t know because there is no way for app to navigate

### 1/5 — Review

*2026-03-22, version 1.0.586*

Had gotten way too pricey!

### 1/5 — No confirmation text

*2026-03-15, version 1.0.584*

No confirmation text

### 1/5 — First Time.

*2026-03-02, version 1.0.574*

My phone died so I couldn’t unlock my bike and couldn’t buy a membership. So it cost me more to ride this bike than Uber. Really sucked.

### 1/5 — App is trash

*2026-02-18, version 1.0.574*

It’s okay, barely convenient

### 1/5 — Hidden fee

*2026-02-17, version 1.0.574*

They say there’s a fee if you leave the bike out of the official area but don’t mention that any area that’s not a blue bike doc is “out of the official area”

### 1/5 — Failed host error

*2026-01-23, version 1.0.564*

App stopped working mid ride and could only this error message despite restarting phone. Had to reinstall

### 1/5 — Expensive, difficult to use

*2026-01-20, version 1.0.564*

Would not recommend. Cheaper to buy your own bike or take the bus. App is difficult to use. Directions are not intuitive. Service area is small.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Clear instructions

*2023-07-03, version 1.0.326*

Great self explanatory app and directs you
About how to ride, lock unlock the blue bikes. Essential for traveling to New Orleans

### 5/5 — Worked great for touring around NOLA

*2022-11-14*

We were in town for a long weekend and didn’t rent a car. We were hesitant to use the bikes given the reviews, but figured it was worth a shot. We used them several times throughout the weekend and they worked great! Never had any issues with they app or the bikes. It was an excellent way to see the city

### 5/5 — Great way to get around town

*2022-09-30, version 1.0.259*

Got to give it up for this affordable and fun way to get out or get home.

### 5/5 — These are great!

*2022-06-11*

I felt obligated to write a review because there are so many bad reviews. These bikes are great! Very easy to use! They’re amazing if you’re a tourist looking to get from one part of town to another, if you’re hesitant, give them a go!

### 5/5 — Perfect way to get around the city

*2022-01-02, version 1.0.186*

Quick, cheap, effective, abundant. What more could you want?

### 5/5 — Try it for yourself!

*2021-11-03*

Me and my husband tried this out today for the first time. We were weary because of the two reviews it has. But neither of us had issues downloading the app or locking the bikes back up. It was a pretty easy system. We also didn’t realize that they were electric bikes! So it helps speed you through New Orleans without any issues! It’s very fun and made our day more enjoyable. I say try it before worrying about any reviews. Self experience is better than missing out on a potential fun experience. We both rode around for an hour and a half and only spent $24. It was much more enjoyable to be able to speed through the streets not in a car. Stop when we needed you to go inside stores, and not have to worry about annoying tour guides lol

### 4/5 — Fair pricing and fun. No charging alert/ran out of battery suddenly— good thing I’m fit…

*2026-06-03, version 1.0.609*

What I said:))
