## What is Blue Tiefpunkt SeaLog?

SeaLog is a professional sea time logging and reporting app built for anyone, from mariners to recreational boaters, working toward USCG licensing requirements.

Track your time on the water, organize your vessel experience, and generate structured service records designed to support the CG-719S sea service reporting process.

Most SeaLog functions are free of charge, including trip recording, vessel and trip management, data import, backups, and CSV exports. SeaLog Pro adds PDF sea service reports and KMZ and GPX trip exports. SeaLog Pro subscriptions also support marine conservation and fisheries management by contributing more than 10% of the paid subscription fee to the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) through its Preferred Partners Program.

SeaLog makes it easy to record trips and build a complete history of your sea service, including the ability to import existing records. Start and stop trips with a single tap, track elapsed time automatically, record vessel, route category, water bodies, role served, and attestation information, and maintain organized records for long-term licensing requirements.

During active trips, SeaLog uses your device’s location to document and validate the voyage. Its GPS quality engine evaluates incoming location observations, filters unreliable positions, and retains a representative track of vessel movement. GPS information is associated with the active trip and stored locally on your device.

SeaLog automatically evaluates and tracks your progress, including total qualified sea days, recent qualification windows, and route-specific categories such as Inland, Near Coastal, and Great Lakes. Per-trip and cumulative summaries help you stay organized and understand your recorded sea service.

During recorded trips, SeaLog can also build a history of environmental conditions associated with the voyage. Modeled weather and marine conditions are automatically captured at trip start, periodically during the trip, and at trip end. You can also manually capture conditions when something noteworthy occurs. Individual conditions records can be reviewed alongside the trip history and include available information such as weather, wind, temperature, waves, swell, currents, and other marine conditions.

Environmental information represents modeled conditions associated with the vessel’s location and time and should not be considered an onboard weather or marine measurement.

SeaLog generates clean, structured service reports designed to support USCG sea service documentation. Reports include multi-page summaries, vessel and service breakdowns, qualified service totals, and attester-ready signature sections. SeaLog reports are supporting records and do not replace official USCG forms or Coast Guard review.

Your data remains under your control. Export trip records as CSV files, create user-controlled backups, and use SeaLog Pro to export PDF reports, KMZ tracks, and GPX tracks. Files can be saved or shared using your device’s standard sharing options. No SeaLog account is required.

SeaLog is designed with privacy and control in mind. Trip records are stored locally on your device rather than in a centralized SeaLog database. Optional backups and exports are user-controlled, and you can clear your stored data directly within the app. Environmental conditions are retrieved from external data services when those features are used.

SeaLog is built for captains, crew, recreational boaters, and license applicants who need a reliable way to document their time on the water. It supports long-term logging across multiple vessels with multiple attesters and is structured around real-world sea service workflows.

SeaLog focuses on doing one thing well: helping you log, organize, validate, and document your sea time with clarity and accuracy.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.2.0 — 2026-08-18

SeaLog 1.2.0 includes major improvements to GPS tracking, environmental conditions, and exported trip records.

SeaLog now uses a new GPS Quality Engine that continuously evaluates location observations during an active trip and filters unreliable positions before they become part of your saved track. This produces cleaner, more representative records of your movement on the water.

The Trip in Progress screen now displays information about this GPS process. You may notice that SeaLog evaluates many more GPS observations than it saves. This is normal. SeaLog intentionally retains selected, trusted positions needed to document the track while rejecting poor-quality or unnecessary points. You do not need to manage these numbers or take any action while underway.

Environmental conditions are now recorded automatically. SeaLog captures conditions near the start of a trip, approximately hourly while underway, and when the trip ends. The Conditions card shows how many snapshots have been recorded and lets you review them while the trip is active.

You can still use CAPTURE NOW whenever you want an additional Conditions snapshot, such as when weather or sea conditions noticeably change. Manual captures are added to the automatic history rather than replacing existing observations.

Conditions records now include available modeled weather and marine information such as temperature, wind, humidity, visibility, waves, swell, currents, and water conditions. These values represent modeled environmental conditions associated with your location and time; they are not measurements made by your vessel or phone.

If some environmental information is temporarily unavailable, SeaLog preserves the Conditions snapshot and can attempt to complete the missing information later.

CSV exports have also been improved. The All Trips export provides clean trip-level records, while the Trip Specific export provides detailed Trip, GPS, and Conditions records with clearly organized and properly aligned fields.

SeaLog Pro purchase and restore handling has also been improved. SeaLog Pro continues to provide PDF sea service reports and KMZ and GPX exports.

There is nothing new you need to do while recording a normal trip. Start and end your trip as usual, and SeaLog handles the new GPS processing and automatic Conditions recording in the background.
