Released in 1998, this was the first synthesizer I actually fell in love with. The EX5 was way beyond its time as it featured Analog Modeling, Virtual Acoustic Modeling, FDSP multi-Synthesis Modeling and of course sample playback. With a mixture of all of these sound synthesis techniques, the EX5 was literally a Blue Beast®. We were not able to capture all of the virtual modeling, but what we were able to capture was the warmth, phatness, and essence of the machine. We also were able to convert the analog waveforms into our own Phat Table™ format to capture all of the analog goodness of the VL technology. What you get in this virtual instrument is a beautifully sampled nostalgic representation in the spirit of the EX5. Thanks for this. ### 5/5 — Could be great, now IS GREAT! *2023-08-23* The patches that load are mostly fantastic with excellent samples, loop points and programming. Unfortunately, several patches don't seem to load the samples properly or are incomplete? For example an entire octave of samples might be missing in the middle of the keyboard. Frustrating but I'm sure the developers will get this sorted out in an upcoming update. Until then, it's a solid 3 with the ability to become a 5. Update: It is GREAT! I asked for help and got a response almost Immediately. Apparently, with such a large download, some files can get lost or missed if you don't have a reliable wifi source or there was an interruption during the transfer. I deleted the sample data and re-downloaded everything and all is GREAT! No missing samples so far and the patches are loading correctly. This app is quickly becoming my favorite iOS synth (along with Pure Synth) and I'm finding the inspiration that has been missing from many other apps due to the character of the sounds and ease of editing them. I wasn't sure if another "rompler" would be much different than many others I bought and don't use...this one is different. Much work went into the sampling on this (that's why it's 30gb) and you can tell, no shortcuts were made to conserve a few mb of memory.
