Could be inconvenient when traveling. ### 2/5 — False coverage + odd pricing *2025-05-08, version 5.1.7* Not a bad app to use, but disappointed with coverage and pricing. Their website says 80% charging, but no Electrify America and no Tesla, so not sure how that claim is true. I only see chargepoint listed and (maybe) EVgo. Looks like they’re displaying some EVgo sites, but not saying that in the app. Also, some sites in the native app are a lot cheaper than in their app… Maybe I’m missing something here 🤔 ### 1/5 — It’s a scam *2025-01-23, version 5.1.4* Bluedot enticed users by offering great perks and charging rates. Now that they have some users they have removed all of the perks and raised the rates without warning. They will lock $10 of your money up in their app. Better rates and perks can be found with other apps with no $10 fee. ### 1/5 — Not the same app it was once *2025-01-17, version 5.1.4* Used to have a competitive edge, no more. You’ll be spammed to death- last straw was a come back offer stating they loaded $10 to my account- log in after months and guess what no credit. Support is totally nonexistent. ### 1/5 — Janky App *2024-12-29, version 5.1.3* Tried charging at an EVGo station with Bluedot. Didn’t work, no customer service. Now trying to close out my account to get my $40 back and seems like there’s no way to do that. Seems like a scam. ### 1/5 — App issues *2024-12-24, version 5.1.3* I have been unable to login to the app. I input my phone # and when I go to the password section it stays on the number pad and does not switch over the the regular keyboard. Not sure if that is an app issue or not but this is the only app that does that. Before that issue, it was difficult to search and it’s not very user friendly. Wish it could be used while traveling by being in able to put in destinations and search along a route. ### 1/5 — Unfavorable payment structure *2024-12-19, version 5.1.3* I don’t like the idea that the app doesn’t allow you to freely remove payment information once added onto the account. Also, don’t like the idea that the app automatically withdrawals money from your account. These two features are not optional and can only be closed by requesting it through an email ### 3/5 — Flexible balance amount! *2024-12-11, version 5.1.3* I love this app, but I wish they had an option to add any amount of my choice. For example, if my balance is 14 dollars i should be able to add 1 dollar to be able to charge, why do I have to be forced to add a minimum of 10 dollars? ### 1/5 — Super expensive *2024-11-23, version 5.1.1* You ruined this app with your greed ### 3/5 — You were outstanding then you significantly raised your prices. *2024-10-14* This app is especially helpful when you need a charge and the price is outrageous at a dealership that really doesn’t want your business or at a remote location where they know they are the only charger for 100 miles. It can be a little less expensive than chargers that actually want your business. The large recent increase was painful and has caused me to use Bluedot less as I shop more carefully. **Developer response:** Our pricing policy has advantages over other networks. Be aware of hidden fees, actual price per kw is around $0.48 instead of advertised $0.43. I’ll give it 2 stars because sometimes it still cheaper than other methods. But misleading advertisement is bad. ### 1/5 — Dead *2024-10-10, version 5.0.7* No more 20% cash back on their debit card. No more 5% cash back for paying our auto insurance on their debit card. And then no more debit card. And now the last straw: raising rate from $0.30 to $0.43 and no free charging day in September. With the rate now at $0.43 it is often more expensive than the charger’s own rate. So what’s the point?? ### 1/5 — Bad pricing, poor communication *2024-10-05, version 5.0.7* Every time I charge with Bluedot it is more expensive than paying at the charger. I did this to qualify for free charging day but apparently they skipped this month?? ### 2/5 — 2 quick fixes needed. *2024-10-01* 2 quick fixes needed. On the map page, the interface kept dragging me back to where my GPS location is, I was not able to see any charging stations in my destination, i.e, Poultney, VT. There is a pulsing circle with dot on the upper left corner right below the icon showing number of users, I believe that’s the one related to the issue. The other thing is, there are lot of 19 kW AC chargers in my area, will there be a filter just for that, with BlueDot getting more expensive, it would be nice to have the option to pick a 19 kW AC charger to save money. Not sure if they are using out of country programmers but app just is a blank screen and even swiping it closed doesn’t fix anything. About to uninstall as worry about scam artists and hackers overtaking this platform. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — If you’re still using this app, watch out—they’ll charge you for free chargers. *2025-11-30, version 5.2.7* This started out as a good app with decent discounts. Now, not so much. And watch out because in many cases they will charge you to use chargers you could use for free. Not worth your time anymore. ### 1/5 — Misleading app description *2025-09-19, version 5.2.3* 1) app description states .43/kwh; once you’re in the app it shows .50/kwh 2) app description states one free charge/mo; once you’re in the app it shows that promotion is gone. ### 1/5 — Update description please *2025-07-28, version 5.2.0* App description references free charges which are no longer available based on the FAQ in the app. Also the FAQ mentions a $10 rebate on the first charge but this offer expired in April. Not seeing the value in this relative to other charging apps I have. ### 1/5 — Waste *2025-07-20, version 5.2.0* Cannot pay as you go so they end up keeping your in-used funds/cash. ### 1/5 — used to be good *2025-05-21, version 5.1.7* they removed the cool features and made it impossible to log in, can't reset password because it doesn't send a text ### 1/5 — When you close your account they do not refund your entire balance! *2025-04-04, version 5.1.7* Avoid this app. They constantly raise their prices to the point that they are now more expensive than paying directly through the app. Then when I closed my account they only refunded a portion of my cash balance, claiming I’m not eligible to receive the entire balance due to the fact that I used promotions previously. Very sketchy company. ### 1/5 — No Longer Worth Your Time, Stopped Competing at Price *2025-02-09* Writing this during my last Bluedot charge before deleting the app. This is from the perspective of a personal user, which no longer seems to be Bluedots focus as all of their marketing has pivoted to fleet management. At one point Bluedot gave you EV charging for a flat rate of .30/kwh, a great deal in exchange for having to put in set amounts of money, potentially more than you’d use in a charging session. Whatever was leftover, Bluedot would use to invest or do whatever with. Now, Bluedot’s flat fee is .50/kwh which matches or exceeds what you would pay with the First Party for at least 90% of DCFC chargers. And they still expect you to put in more money than you’ll use for one charge session. Clearly Bluedots original system was not making money, so now they’ve resorted to fleecing the end users. Just download the app for whatever charger you’re using, pay for the exact amount of energy you put in your car, and leave greedy middlemen like Bluedot out of the equation. **Developer response:** We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. Safe travels! ### 1/5 — Ridiculous price increases *2025-01-26, version 5.1.4* Last year 2024 prior to August I would have given this app five stars in August. They raise the rates and then again in January 20 25 they raise the rates again. The current rate per charging is $.50 a kilowatt hour most chargers in my area charge $.35-$.40 a kilowatt hour. The email they sent everyone about the pricing increase is a complete joke most chargers in my area have actually gone down in price not up. This app used to give free charging days at least once a month I have not seen one since Thanksgiving of 2024. It’s almost February of 2025.
