## What is BlueHelm Boating?

Navigation, Anchor-drift alarm. Live float plans. Marine weather. And your boat's own guide — with you at the helm, even offline.

BlueHelm is built around YOUR boat: its systems, procedures, and checklists become a guide you can actually use underway, with the safety tools running alongside.

YOUR BOAT (AI)
Ask questions and get answers drawn from your boat's guide plus current
conditions. "Where's the A/C seacock?" "What do I shut off on the inverter?" Boating questions only — and it never replaces your own judgment or official sources.

ANCHOR WATCH
Drop anchor, set your rode, and BlueHelm watches your swing. If your boat drifts past your ring, the alarm sounds — even with the screen off. Adaptive monitoring is designed to be easy on your battery overnight.

TRIPS & FLOAT PLANS
Plan a trip with a suggested water route, or just tap Track Now and go. Share a live float plan so the people who worry can watch your track. Every trip is saved with distance and time.

SMART WATER ROUTING
Plan a trip and BlueHelm suggests a route over real water — out the harbor channel, around the headland, never a straight line across land. In US waters, routing is informed by NOAA chart data. A planning suggestion to refine, not navigation — always verify against official charts.

FIND NEAREST
The closest marinas, fuel docks, launch ramps, harbors, anchorages, and bays — sorted by distance from your position, with over 17,000 US coastal places built in. Works with zero signal, exactly when you need it. Tap any place to plan a route there, or just ask Your Boat.

TRAVEL WINDOW
A same-day read on wind and swell, scored hour by hour, so you can pick the calm window instead of guessing. Transparent about its sources and thresholds — a planning aid, not a go/no-go verdict.

MARINE CONDITIONS
Wind, tide, waves, and water temperature with hourly and 7-day forecasts, tide charts, and NOAA coastal alerts in US waters.

VESSEL GUIDE
Your boat's procedures — getting on, heading out, heading back, closing up — as living checklists that work fully offline. Multi-boat ready: every vessel keeps its own guide, log, and documents.

MOB & EMERGENCY
One-tap man-overboard marking and an emergency console with your position ready to read over the radio.

MEMBERSHIP — STRAIGHT PRICES
14-day free trial, no card required. Crew: $9.99/month or $99/year. Captain (higher AI allowance): $17.99/month or $199/year. Add a boat: $49/year. No ads. We never sell your data, and your guide content is never used to train AI.

BlueHelm is an aid to seamanship — not a substitute for it. Always maintain a proper lookout, monitor official forecasts and notices, and carry required safety equipment. AI answers can be wrong; verify anything safety-critical against your boat's documentation.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0.6 — 2026-08-25

The wind forecast, rebuilt. A new colour scale reads at a glance from dead calm to near-gale, live knot readouts sit right on the water, and coverage keeps up wherever you zoom or pan. With the wind layer on, the chart now shades water depth so thin water reads pale before you are on it. Plus: press anywhere on the chart for conditions at that exact spot, and search now finds offshore buoys.

### 2.0.5 — 2026-08-19

Under way, the chart now turns so the direction you're travelling sits at the top of the screen, and holds steady until you actually change course.

A dragging anchor now puts a full alert on your lock screen and keeps it there until you're back inside your swing radius.

Tap the compass for north-up. Two-finger rotation is back.

Tap a nearby search result to see your boat and that place framed together before you plan the route.

### 2.0.4 — 2026-08-16

This release rebuilds the chart on a new rendering engine. The map draws faster, stays sharp at every zoom level, and turns with your heading while you're under way.

Wind: the forecast overlay now paints across the chart and along a planned route, so you can see the wind you'll actually be in.

Trip planning: your water route is visible as soon as you set a destination — tick "Show wind" to lay the forecast over that same map, with cruise speed and a timeline to scrub through the trip.

Smaller things you'll notice: your start and destination appear as tags in the search boxes that you can clear with one tap, either field can be set to your current location instantly, and the delete-trip control is easier to read.

Under the hood: steadier arrival detection, recorded tracks, and channel markers.

### 2.0.3 — 2026-08-12

Search harbors, marinas and ramps straight from the chart. Nearby shows what's within 50 miles, numbered on the map, or find the nearest anywhere in one tap.

Plan a route to anything you find, pick your departure, and see the wind along the way.

Under way, the chart carries your destination, distance and ETA.

Subscribers see their plan and renewal details.

Plus clearer map pins, readable depth soundings at night, and bug fixes.

### 2.0.2 — 2026-08-09

• Tap any conditions tile — wind, tide, waves, water, pressure — for hour-by-hour detail
• Your boat guide is now one tap from home
• Enter boat length, draft and beam in feet and inches
• Fixes to water temperature and reliability improvements
