Only had 2 years and will no longer connect via WiFi. Also did not like the display on my phone. Very disappointed! Will definitely replace and not repurchase this brand! ### 4/5 — Good Once Set Up *2025-11-02, version 6.10.0* The thermostat was installed by prior homeowner and they had misplaced the manuals. I was in my own to find and set up the thermostat and the app. I know there are security considerations but I found it a bit challenging to set up. Found out after calling Support I couldn’t set up without ‘permission’ from prior owner. Ended up calling Support for help. They wanted me to get some info from prior owner but agreed that wasn’t practical and just reset the app for a new install. Pretty easy after that. I actually find I don’t use it as much after setting schedules where I want. Just on occasion. Convenient to have though. No real issues. I know how to adjust the programmed times but I would like to set the temperature my self as weather is very unpredictable ### 3/5 — Disappointed *2025-01-14, version 6.10.0* I hate how you can not work the app I’m landscape mode—very annoying. I have an Ecobee thermostat at vacation home and app is more user friendly. Also, time on thermostat is 1 hour different from thermostat even though time zone is set correctly. **Developer response:** It may be helpful to check your Time Zone setting. Try calling, get no help. ### 4/5 — Inconsistent Experience Fails A lot *2023-11-08, version 6.5.0* Update: The developer response fixed the program issue! Thank you! Our installer had turned off the program in the menu so that’s why it wasn’t working. If you’re having trouble with your program, this was a quick fix and tech support was helpful! We still have issues with the app timing out and not saving changes but it might be our router or internet service. I’ll troubleshoot this with tech support next time I have time to call. But at least I was able to enter a program and it’s following it now. I shouldn’t need to make so many manual changes now anyway. I have a much better experience with this app after following the developers advice. This app is frustrating and I’ve seen a lot better apps for controlling a thermostat. Half the time I use it, it fails and doesn’t change the setting. I spent hours with the tedious task of adding a schedule and it never followed it. So I only use this app for the most basic feature - manually changing from heat to AC and adjusting the temp up and down. I submit the request to change the setting and it spins for 15-30 seconds then fails. Even when our internet signal is strong and it should be connected. ### 4/5 — Weird UI design but the app works *2023-10-27, version 6.5.0* The app opens in landscape and the UI design felt like it’s coming from a Flash game in late 2000s. The thermostat that this apps works with is not fancy or smart either, comparing to Nest or Ecobee. But so far, the app works very well. I do have concern that the app would seemingly save the login password locally rather than maintaining a login session whenever I reopen the app, but as long as I don’t lose my phone it probably won’t be an issue. ### 2/5 — Inconsistent Experience Fails A lot *2023-10-18* This app is frustrating and I’ve seen a lot better apps for controlling a thermostat. Half the time I use it, it fails and doesn’t even change the setting. I spent hours with the tedious task of adding in a schedule and it never activated because I came to find out our builder didn’t install the type of thermostat that can run a program schedule. So I only use this app for the most basic feature - manually changing from heat to AC and adjusting the temp up and down. It can’t even do that. I submit the request to change the setting and it spins for 30 seconds then fails. Even when our internet signal is strong and it should be connected. I hardly even try to use this worthless app anymore. **Developer response:** We are sorry you are having an unsatisfactory experience. All of our connected thermostats ship with the program schedule enabled. Your installer may have turned this feature off. Please contact our support team. The support team has a list of routers that cause a lot of trouble for any brand of thermostats. They can also check your signal strength at the thermostat. ### 2/5 — Intermittently works - needs consistency *2023-10-08, version 6.5.0* Initially when I first installed the app it work and it works intermittently. After time the when settings are changed and applied sometimes it applies and sometimes it doesn’t. Repeated attempts never work. After a few days settings can be updated. You can never apply changes to setting in succession. If the changes work the first time they always fail the second time. I submitted my email for password twice and still no email. When I click on app support it asks me to sign in.....I CAN'T, because the app is not sending the password reset. Programming is not intuitive, and often the programmed temps, are over written by the server requiring a complete reprogramming of set temps. Tech support has claimed they are working on it. Been a year now with zero results. Bluelink app never synced well with device. Often took forever to make changes. Very frustrating. Typically got an “Unable to Save Changes” message. If lost power, always took multiple attempts to re-establish connection with network. Even had to call customer service a couple times, and it was difficult for them too. Unexpectedly went offline at times when all other devices were operating fine. Unable to control with EchoDot. Finally took the plunge and bought an Amazon Smart Thermostat on sale. Difference was immediate. Wish I’d done it sooner. Best part is being able to check on the system while traveling. ### 5/5 — Works great w/ Alexa+ *2025-12-17, version 6.10.0* First, Get a dedicated 2.4 extender for $10 and ur golden. It’ll make connecting any other non-matter 2.4 smart devices easier too. Once I connected that to this cheap WiFi extender it has been working perfectly. The app stays connected and reconnects if I unplug the extender. Only complaints are The schedule feature definitely has room for improvement but I do all that through Alexa so it’s moot for me now. Also it’d be nice if the app would have pass through control of all the settings like fan settings and switching to Heat and off. Any disconnect has been due to the internet service, but the furnace always functioned, and Blue Link reconnects automatically once internet is available.
