## What is Board Foot Calculator?

Cutlist is a board foot calculator for the lumber yard and a cut list planner for the shop. Count every board before you pay for it, then plan every cut before you saw.

COUNT IT AT THE YARD
• Pick the species: walnut, white oak, red oak, cherry, maple, ash, poplar, pine or mahogany, or type the name of any other species
• Thickness in quarters (4/4, 5/4, 8/4) the way hardwood is sold, or nominal sizes like 2x4 and 2x6, with the actual size shown next to them
• Enter width, length in feet and how many pieces; the board feet add up as you go
• Add the price per board foot and see what the pile will cost. Cutlist remembers your last price for each species and thickness
• Add a waste allowance of 10, 15, 20 or 30% to see how much to buy, not just how much the project uses
• Show the total in board feet or cubic feet (CFT)

PLAN THE CUTS
• Enter the boards you have and the parts you need
• See which part comes off which board, the offcut left on each one and the waste percentage
• Parts that fit on no board are listed, never quietly dropped
• The kerf is counted on every cut: 1/16", 3/32", 1/8" or 1/4". Three 32" parts don't come out of a 96" board once the blade takes its share
• Cutlist tries several ways to lay out the parts and keeps the plan that uses the least lumber

BUILT FOR THE SHOP
• Fractions the way a tape measure reads them: 1-9/16", not 1.5625
• Prefer metric? Switch to millimeters, cubic meters and price per m³ in Settings
• The board list and the cut plan save together as one project; open it again at the saw
• No account and no sign-in; your projects stay on your device
• Share the lumber list as a PDF to take to the yard, free
• Open a saved project, change it and save it again in place

FREE AND PRO
