## What is Boardsesh?

Search a climb, watch your wall light up. Less time on your phone, more time on the wall.

ONE APP FOR EVERY BOARD YOU CLIMB
Kilter, Tension and MoonBoard each ship their own app for their own board. Boardsesh works across all of them, plus Decoy, Touchstone, Grasshopper and So iLL, in one place. Your whole climbing history across every board lives here.

BOARD HISTORY, ALWAYS ON
Share a board and you lose track of the last climb fast, and someone always wipes it by accident.
In Boardsesh every board you connect to has a live feed of what's lit on that wall right now: the climb's name, who lit it, who set it, the grade and angle, and recent sends. It updates as the wall changes, so you always know what's up there.

SESSIONS WITH YOUR CREW
Start a session and you and your crew can share one queue everyone can drive. Anyone can light the next climb on the wall. When you're done you get a recap and tracking: sends and attempts, grade spread, your hardest send, and progress over time.

CONTROL FROM YOUR LOCK SCREEN (iOS 17+)
iOS Live Activities tell you what climb is on from your lock screen, and allow you to change it without leaving your lock screen.

BUILD A WORKOUT
Pick Volume, Pyramid, Ladder or Grade Focus, set a target grade and warm-up, preview the climbs, then push them to the wall one at a time.

TRACK YOUR CLIMBING
Record sends, flashes and attempts, get a recap with duration, grade spread and your hardest send, and watch your sends and grades climb on the Progress tab.

BRING YOUR HISTORY WITH YOU
Save your session to Apple Health, and import your past Kilter and Tension logbook from Aurora Climbing.

FIND MORE TO CLIMB
Follow your crew and setters, search climbers, and pin playlists from Discover.

Supported boards: Kilter, Tension, MoonBoard (2010, 2016, 2024, Masters 2017, Masters 2019), Decoy, Touchstone, Grasshopper and So iLL.

Boardsesh is a community effort that works with these boards and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any board manufacturer.

### 5/5 — Bluetooth fixed!

*2026-07-10*

Thanks so much for fixing iPhone Bluetooth on the Kilter Board. Works great now!

How can I support / give back?

### 1/5 — I don’t want an account

*2026-07-07*

Update2: Or with one.

Update: the app is suddenly completely unusable without an account.

I downloaded this because I don’t need my ticks published or anything. I like that I can use the board at all, but dislike that it refuses to log data locally.

### 4/5 — Great progress. Please add circuit and timer features!

*2026-07-01*

I would love to see a timer feature added that enable auto-advancing between problems (eg cycle through a playlist at set intervals) Eventually a “route” feature would be amazing to create longer problems with holds that progressively light up for a set amount of time then turn off (enabling longer circuits around the board)

### 5/5 — User friendly

*2026-06-24*

Marco stepped into the gap after Aurora Kilter debacle and not only produced a usable app but a superior product. He has proven to be responsive to feedback with any glitches by rapidly addressing them. This app facilitates community by making it easy for a crew to use during a session. Best thing I can say about it.

### 5/5 — awesome!

*2026-06-19*

incredible alternative to the kilter app

### 2/5 — Pretty ok

*2026-06-04*

This app is pretty good compared to the old kilter app, and definitely Some complaints would be the disconnect button not working, not having a built in auto disconnect service, and the strangeness of the session feature with others. It doesn’t seem to work very well, and you can’t search for new climbs without automatically putting them up on the wall. If these things got fixed it would probably be a five star app.

**Developer response:** We agree the old 1.2 app had some weird quirks due to it being a web app in a app jacket. We completely rewrote the app to be native, and use liquid glass ui for the app. Lets us know if things have improved for you

### 5/5 — Awesome app!

*2026-06-03*

Great app that you can use with Kilter, Tension, Moon and I believe other boards. No more need for multiple apps, plus the new kilter app is horrible so kudos to this team!!!

### 5/5 — THANK YOU!

*2026-05-16*

Thank you for making this app, it’s so good and it has all the old routes

### 4/5 — WAYYYY Better Than The New Kilter App

*2026-05-07*

Honestly, I would’ve walked away from the Kilter if not for this app. You can actually find the climbs you want and you can upload your data yourself within seconds rather than waiting ages for Kilter to do it. The only thing I’m struggling with is adding to lists. They’re on my profile but not there when I want to add a climb. Other than that, it’s great.

**Developer response:** We should have the playlists bug fixed, you should now be able to add climbs to lists from the climbs page. Theres a short left to right swipe that does it, as well as through the ellipses climb actions drawer

### 3/5 — I don’t want an account

*2026-05-04*

I downloaded this because I don’t need my ticks published or anything. I like that I can use the board at all, but dislike that it refuses to log data locally.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.3.1 — 2026-08-05

iOS 27 beta bug fix

### 2.3.0 — 2026-08-03

Three big ones this update: climb with no signal, one grade that reads the same on every board, and your gym on Boardsesh.

Climb offline:
- Download a board and keep going with no signal — search climbs, log sends, save favorites. Everything queues on your phone and syncs when you're back. Downloads finish in seconds now, and Manage storage shows what each board takes up so you can clear the ones you're not climbing on.

The Boardsesh grade:
- One grade that reads the same across Kilter, Tension and MoonBoard, built from every logged send, with a confidence level. Turn on "Show Boardsesh grades" in Settings. Problems nobody's logged yet get an estimate from their hold layout instead of sitting there ungraded.

Your gym:
- Every gym has a public page now — follow it, or claim it if it's yours. Put your walls on a TV at boardsesh.com/kiosk/your-gym: what's lit on every board, in your logo and colors, with a code climbers scan to get Boardsesh.

Also:
- Shuffle your results with the new Random sort, filter down to the projects you've tried but haven't sent, and pin the filter shortcuts you actually reach for.
- The play screen opens on your own history with the climb — your sends and attempts, right where you can see them.
- Your logbook counts straight: duplicate Aurora ascents land once, imported Tension attempts stay attempts, and MoonBoard 2024 sends import properly.
- Queue rows and climb rows now work with VoiceOver.
- Steadier Bluetooth, steadier sessions with your crew, and fewer memory crashes on long iPad days.

Free, no ads, open source.

### 2.2.2 — 2026-07-09

Fixed bluetooth bug when connecting to Kilter branded LED boxes

### 2.2.1 — 2026-07-08

Bluetooth bug fix

### 2.2.0 — 2026-07-07

This update is all about steadier Bluetooth, plus a new way to show off your wall on iPad.

Steadier on the wall:
- iOS 26.5: fixed Kilter and Tension boards not lighting up, so no more blank board mid-session or connect-then-disconnect churn.
- Queued a climb from a different board? Your wall no longer flashes dark. Boardsesh skips it and lights the next one that fits your setup.
- Clear a MoonBoard's lights straight from the app over Bluetooth.

New, On the Wall on iPad:
- Mount an iPad by the wall for a full-screen view of what's lit right now, who's on it, and the session's hardest send, readable from across the room. Step back and forth through the wall's history and tap to relight a climb someone bumped. The screen stays awake for the whole session.

Also:
- Hide MoonBoard climbs set on holds you don't own: deselect a set and those problems drop out of your results.
- MoonBoard sends now add to a climb's community repeat count instead of wiping it, so benchmarks show their real numbers and sort back to the top.
- Add a climb to a playlist by pressing and holding it, and spin up a new playlist right there without the sheet vanishing mid-name.

Free, no ads, open source.
