P. O. S! ### 1/5 — Frustrations *2012-07-05* I have followed BI since issue 18, and on the iPad for nearly a year. This latest update has made it inaccessible for me and can only be described as a total letdown. It has let me once get far enough to buy the latest issue - but have not been able to read it. Have tried to find the proper route for tech support - but can't find it! ### 2/5 — An above average magazine App. *2012-07-02* I have multiple magazine subscriptions across the varied app's available (Newsstand, Zinio, stand-alones, etc.) and find Boat International to be plagued with some issues. While not National Geographic, there is plenty of interactive content to make each issue an upgraded digital version of the print magazine. The Zoom feature is better than most, and combined with the ability to see the featured photos as a gallery make detailed observations of the vessels a snap. Each issue is large (think Wired) so expect a chunk of download time. The problems began, for me, with "Updating the Shelf". Seemingly an endless process, I have resorted to doing a full iPad turn off/on to simply read the magazine in a reasonable time. I don't know if it's related to the NISI video played at start-up, but it's annoying at best. Clearly the defect is the application, not the content of the magazine. I'm surprised frankly, that a publication intended to appeal to the most discriminating of readership would allow its digital "face" to be so poorly received. Here's to hoping an update will right this ship. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2012-07-01* I downloaded 6 of them (over 7GB data) to read at my flight. I read one at the beginning of the flight . Then after my lunch, when i reopened the app all of my downloaded magazines were gone! Very dissapointed and yet this is not the forst time this has happened to me. Why is the content so old fashioned when there are so many good magazines out there now? It's not like it's cheap? Please improve platform and I will buy more! ### 1/5 — Totally Broken *2012-06-07* This app simply crashes consistently ( I have the iPad 1 ). Honestly the only thing that works is the flashy video ad at the start which I have now seen 50 times trying to read an issue. You would think with this cover price they could actually invest in a functional magazine. I cannot even get past the first page of the magazine without it crashing 100% of the time. Do not purchase. ### 2/5 — Last version is another step backward… *2012-05-21* Recent update is a huge deception… Instead of improving their magazine by choosing a modern and tablet specific publication engine, they stick with outdated paper print layout… they add up to unadapted format a very bad image quality and a lousy display engine that builds images progressively from low res. to high resolution… so stupid !! In short, Boat International content is quite good, but experience on iPad is very very bad… ### 2/5 — Not to good. *2011-12-30* Art is rather poorly rendered. Downloading is very slow and took so many attempts that I lost count. The support email for the app no longer works nor does contacting the magazine directly. Money paid for nothing! ### 1/5 — Poorest Service & Product *2017-10-04* This App is such a pain. I have been a subscriber for 5+ years and it’s a bonus on the rare occasion I can access my account. Numerous emails and 9 months to fix then the App updates itself and yet again, they can no longer find my credentials. The same ones that worked the week before. It’s so much headache that it’s not worth renewing anymore. Such a shame because the hard copy of the magazine is fantastic. Clearly the company needs to react to the digital market, it’s 2017/18. ### 1/5 — App crashes *2017-08-18* The app was working fine until the latest iOS 10.3.3 update where a message pops up and states that "no issues have been setup" then the app crashes. Very poor customer service. ### 1/5 — Downloads are the worst feature of this app *2014-02-14* If you are thinking of downloading this app, look for some other boating magazine. Boat International takes most of a day to download, fails and then starts the download again. Very slowly. I have never had such a dismal and frustrating experience. If you do mistakenly subscribe,make sure you disable the auto renewal function so you don't have to suffer this app again. I will not be renewing.
