## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0 — 2026-11-05

A new look you can arrange, your boat shared with your crew, one search across the boat, and voyages planned week by week.

A NEW LOOK
Your boat on its own screen, with a bar for the Helm, Find, a + for anything new, Show and More. On iPad and Mac each place is a tile showing what's going on. Arrange it your way: the places, the Helm's tiles, the sections of a log entry and Specs, and the order of your boats. Everything the screens you know can do, the new ones do too, and your data is as it was. If you've used Boat Manager before you'll start on the screens you know: switch in Settings › Boat Manager 2.0.

CREW
Share a boat with the people who sail on her. Invite them from their Crew record, as Writes the Log, Crew or View Only, and the boat comes aboard their Boat Manager. Crew don't pay: your subscription covers your boats. Each log entry, to-do and expense says who wrote it, and anyone aboard can keep their time aboard and USCG days, with the CG-719S form.

ONE + FOR EVERYTHING
The + in the bar adds a log entry, a quick log note, a photo, maintenance, an expense, a to-do or a float plan, from wherever you are. Guided Log Entry and Guided Maintenance go one step at a time. Quick log notes put a bridge, a lock or wildlife on the log with a tap. On the Mac, the File menu has New Log Entry, Maintenance, Expense and To-Do, and you can drop a receipt or a file on a row.

FIND
One search across the whole boat: the log, gear, spares, papers, jobs, people and places, and the boat's own numbers, found by everyday words such as coast guard number.

NEXT ON THE HELM
Up to three cards at the top of the Helm when there's something to do: a gale warning near the boat, a float plan for today, what happened since your last visit, jobs coming due. Hold one to change or switch it off, or set them in Settings › Helm.

SHOW
Who we are, the boat and where we've been: the photos full screen, her track on a map and the Boat Cards, for showing someone what you've been doing.

UPKEEP
A job's labour, materials and yard bill go in as expenses as you log it. The form guesses the equipment, notes oil added, asks what's next and records anode readings. Set Aside keeps gear you've taken off, with its history, out of the lists and reminders. 38 more jobs in the starter library.

THIS BOAT
Each boat keeps its own log times, defaults and planning settings, so a second boat no longer shares the first one's.

VOYAGES
Plan where she goes over the coming weeks and months: the stops, the days between them, fuel, the weather on arrival and what it will cost. Mark a day that can't move, compare alternatives, send the stops to your calendar, or share a voyage to plan it together.

TO-DOS, LIKE REMINDERS
Tick the round checkbox, add at the top of the list, drag into your own order, group into sections, and show or hide what's done. Every to-do and shopping item is in Apple Reminders too, kept in step both ways.

WEATHER AND TIDES
The Helm shows NWS alerts near the boat, including gale warnings and small craft advisories within 15 NM. Weather logs the day's average wind with its peak gust, the barometer and its trend, and visibility. The tide tile says springs or neaps.

SAFETY
Hurricane Plan and Storm Prep checklists. A failed step stays marked until its job is done. Gear, spares and tools can carry their hazard class, from the nine, with its symbol.

EXPENSES, PAPERS AND FLOAT PLANS
Make Recurring from an expense already paid; Spend Here's figures open their expenses. A paper can show on every boat, such as the insurance or a cruising guide. A float plan belongs to a boat, takes its places' positions, and Use Again starts a copy from today.

FIXES
The boat's radio, mobile or satellite number and prominent features are saved in their own places again, not the next one along as since 1.2, and yours are moved back on every device. Send Some Feedback works without Apple Mail.

### 1.8.0 — 2026-10-18

Every cost is now an expense: see what the boat really costs, plan maintenance as jobs with their reminders, and delete with confidence.

EXPENSES
Every cost is now an expense of its own: fuel, berths, labour, parts, insurance, subscriptions. Each has a category, who you paid, where, a note and its receipts, and can be marked reimbursable. The costs on your logs and tasks are moved over once. Update every device to 1.8 so they agree. A refund or insurance payout nets against the cost it repays. Sort and filter the list by category, vendor, place, date or what's still to review.

WHAT THE BOAT COSTS
The Expenses tab opens on cost of ownership: fixed, semi-fixed and discretionary, with capital kept apart, over the last 12 months and what's coming. Every figure opens its expenses; tap a year for them by category, and ⓘ for the terms. Analysis includes your fuel.

RECURRING COSTS
A monthly slip, insurance, a subscription: set it up once and it comes round when due, to record or skip.

RECEIPTS
Share a receipt or invoice to Boat Manager and it opens the app, files the document and makes the expense. A paperclip marks every expense with a receipt, and a document lists the expenses it backs up.

VENDORS
Maintenance Contacts are now Vendors, listed by business with their people beneath. Add one from any picker. Share a contact card from Contacts into Boat Manager as crew or a vendor. A vendor opens its expenses, and the list counts them.

SPEND HERE
A waypoint shows what you've spent there, per night stayed, with berths and fuel paid to the place. Mark a complimentary night on the log; Safe Harbor counts it.

PLANNED JOBS
Scheduled maintenance is a planned job of its own, not a placeholder log. Plan a Job from Planning, a library job or a checklist; a job due on engine hours is planned at a reading and shows the hours left. Log It Today, run its checklist, Reschedule or Skip it, and its reminder follows. A missed day shows as overdue. Data Health turns old scheduled logs and maintenance reminders into planned jobs.

REMINDERS
Everything Boat Manager reminds you of is kept here and synced to Apple Reminders: an expiry with its record, a job as a planned job, anything else as a to-do. An orange mark shows what's in Apple Reminders. Remind Me on an expiry alerts a month, two weeks or a week ahead and follows the date; Renewed moves it on. A reminder deleted in Reminders can be made again.

ONCE OPENED
Paint, glue, epoxy: say how long a spare lasts once opened. Its use-by counts as its expiry, in the list and its reminder.

SEARCH, SORT AND FILTER
Every main list now has all three, side by side.

SPREADSHEETS
CSV Import has a blank template for each table, for records kept in spreadsheets, and expenses now export and import.

NEARBY
Your own waypoints come first, with a slider for how far to look. Yacht clubs are found, and fuel searches skip what isn't a fuel dock.

SAFER DELETING
Every delete asks first and says what goes with it. Delete All deletes only what the list shows, and says how many. Deleting a log takes its tasks with it and puts the spares they used back in stock. Deleting a boat takes everything that is its, never your last boat.

TIME ZONES
A log keeps its day when you change time zone. Each log records the ship's zone, and Settings can show it beside the date.

iCLOUD SYNC
The sync status shows a download under way and how far it has got, and the last download, upload and any problem, in words.

FIXES
• A vendor with a company and no person's name saves
• The currency you chose at first launch is kept
• Delete My Account removes everything
• A shared receipt's log no longer shows in the Maintenance Log
• The insured value is on the boat's Insurance
• The calculator icon shows in dark mode
• Show Helm on start matches the first-launch options around it
• On Mac, CSV Export has a Save dialog and CSV Import's choices show when picked

Fair winds. Questions and suggestions are always welcome — they shape each release.

### 1.7.0 — 2026-10-15

Tell Boat Manager what's aboard and it sets up your equipment with the maintenance jobs that fit, from a bigger library, with checklists to run step by step.

WHAT'S ABOARD?
Say what your boat has (power or sail, engines, fuel, generator, watermaker, A/C, thrusters, offshore gear, a tender) and Boat Manager adds the equipment, each piece with the maintenance jobs that fit it. Untick what isn't aboard. From onboarding, or an empty Gear list. A tender becomes a boat of its own.

A BIGGER LIBRARY
36 new jobs, from smoke alarms, EPIRB tests and the LPG leak test to impellers, rigging, A/C and the tender outboard on Yamaha's schedule, each saying whether its interval is common practice or the maker's. Jobs can be due on hours or months, whichever comes first, with intervals up to five years or 1,000 hours.

CHECKLISTS TO RUN
Lay-up, recommission, engine and generator oil changes, pre-departure, engine-room rounds, leaving the boat, named storm, fueling and winter aboard: run step by step, each step Done, Not done or N/A, and the library jobs among them logged as you go. Checklists can be filtered and sorted.

START A HAUL-OUT
A new project can start from Haul-out: bottom paint, anodes, props, shafts, rudder, through-hulls and transducers, planned on the day you haul.

NOT STARTED YET
A job you've never logged reads Not started yet, not overdue, until you log it once. New equipment no longer arrives as a wall of work.

NEARBY
From the Helm, the nearest marinas, fuel, anchorages and towing, with their distance, a call button and directions. Your Safe Harbor membership shows your nights, dockage and the fuel price you paid there against elsewhere.

RECEIPTS READ FOR YOU
Share an invoice or receipt to Expenses and its total, date and vendor are filled in, read on your device. Change anything that isn't right.

APPEARANCE
Light, Dark, or as your device is set. Onboarding has a Back button, and new users get well-known landmarks near their home port.

FIXES
• A displacement over 32,767 lb no longer crashes the app, and number fields say when a value is too large
• The number of engines and net tonnage are saved
• Editing a second boat while the Helm is open no longer affects the default boat
• The starter library loads in every region, not only the US
• Sheets are padded once, with Save clear of the corners
• The USCG report lists bodies of water by days
• The Mac sidebar no longer leaves a ring on the last item

Fair winds. Questions and suggestions are always welcome — they shape each release.

### 1.6.1 — 2026-10-13

Maintenance items that list just their own jobs, an icon for every job, and the spares each task used, a tap away.

JOBS THAT FIT THE ITEM
A library item lists only the jobs it tracks, each with its icon. Add Job finds the rest: the jobs for its equipment type, the ones you use most, or any job, so a watermaker can have an impeller check. Logging a task shows the item's own jobs, with Show All Jobs for the extra one you did while you were there. An item with no job listed is its own job, ticked off by name, and can be due by engine hours.

AN ICON FOR EVERY JOB
Library items, Upkeep and each piece of equipment show an icon for the job: a windlass, strainer, bilge pump, cleat, porthole, filter, paintbrush and more. The oil change has its own, and generators can have belt checks. Bridges, locks and oil disposal have their own icons on waypoints too.

SPARES USED
A maintenance task names the spares it used, and its box opens them. Each spare lists every task that used it, how many, and when last. Take a spare off a task and you're asked whether to return it to stock.

PHOTOS AND THE CHART
Photos fill the width, with a boat's others as thumbnails in the corner; crew and contacts are portraits. Add Photo sits in the corner, and the photo's ⋯ menu replaces or deletes it. A log or waypoint opens on a wide chart with its photo in the corner, and on iPad the position sits beside it.

SET ASIDE
Set an overdue job aside until it is next logged, and an expired document in Papers, so they stop counting against the boat. Record a boat's date and price of sale.

PICKERS AND WAYPOINTS
Port, crew and location pickers are steadier and quicker to search, and open as a card on iPad. Waypoints show friendly badges such as groceries, pharmacy and medical, sort by most visited, and their types have icons.

LINKING DOCUMENTS
Link a document to the equipment, spare, log, task, crew member or waypoint it belongs with from lists that are grouped, easy to read and quick to search. Each suggests what fits and says why, keeps the ones you linked last at the top, and its ⓘ opens a record to check before you link it. Tap a linked record again to unlink it.

FIXES
• The boat's PFD count keeps its value
• Editing one boat no longer changes another or leaves two default boats
• The date, engine-hours and distance filters are easier to use
• Maintenance items fit beside the iPad sidebar
• Add Contact shows the whole form on Mac
• Weather is not fetched for a log with no position
• A float plan's PDF lists its stops in trip order
• Analysis is recalculated: a day on two boats counts once, Last Month and Last Year include their last day, burn rate and economy run fill to fill for each boat, months with no fuel are left off the charts, and a task's budget no longer counts as money spent
• USCG sea time lists days with no body of water recorded on their own row
• Data Health finds ports with no waypoint, waypoints never visited, and engine hours of zero after real readings
• With larger text on a small iPhone, group summaries and list rows wrap instead of cutting off

Fair winds. Questions and suggestions are always welcome — they shape each release.

### 1.6.0 — 2026-10-09

Waypoints made for liveaboards, filled in from Maps, and every part of the app a tap closer.

WAYPOINTS FOR LIVEABOARDS
Record your own view of a place: type, operator, address, Safe Harbor (with your member number), VHF, phone and email. At the berth: slips, moorings or anchorage, depth, dockage, shore power by amps and volts, water, fuel, pump-out, wake protection, dinghy dock. For liveaboards: welcome or transients only, mail and packages, gated docks, feels safe, walkable, Uber. Ashore: laundry and its cost, pharmacy, medical, bars and restaurants by name, marine stores, pet friendly, courtesy car. Services: yard work, propane, mechanical, electrical, canvas and more. Each is Yes, No or Not known, dated when it changes.

FILL FROM MAPS
While editing a waypoint, tap Fill from Maps. Apple Maps gives the marina's name, phone and address and what's nearby; OpenStreetMap gives the boating facilities. Tick what to copy; nothing you entered is replaced unless you choose.

FIND THE RIGHT PLACE
Filter waypoints by what they have — moorings, pump-out and liveaboards welcome, together. Each shows how often you've logged there.

NAMES CAN CHANGE
Rename a waypoint and its logbook keeps every visit. Crew get a Display Name for the logs — a first name or nickname instead of their full name — and a rename carries through their logs, tasks and float plans. Renamed maintenance items keep their history; to-do tags follow what they tag.

ICONS THAT TAKE YOU THERE
Blue icons now do something. On a log row they open the log at that part: Tankage, Maintenance, Weather, the berth, the people aboard. Equipment, Spares and Tools icons open those groups; a document's icon opens the file, an expense's paperclip its invoice, a task's gear its equipment.

A LOGGED PORT BECOMES A WAYPOINT
Tap Save as Waypoint on any log whose port has none. Choosing a port, the list starts with the three nearest.

ONE MENU FOR EVERY LOG
Long-press a log on any list for the same menu: open, copy to another date, add fuel, pump-out, water, propane or maintenance to that day, or delete, which now asks first.

TASKS FROM THE MAINTENANCE LOG
Each task's ⋯ button marks it complete, sets who did it and the equipment, adds a spare, or copies it to another log, without opening it.

SIX MONTHS GETS ITS OWN COLUMN
Service columns are now 50 h or 1 month, 100 or 3, 250 or 6, 500 or 12, 1000 or 24. Your items move by themselves.

EVERY SCREEN AT A GLANCE
Groups start closed and each header shows what's in it. Lists show a photo or icon beside each name.

MORE ROOM ON IPAD AND MAC, QUICKER ON IPHONE
The bottom bar is gone: the lifebuoy sits beside the Helm, iCloud Sync and Settings at the foot of the menu, checklists side by side. iPhone opens on your default boat.

AND MORE
• ActiveCaptain links on waypoints
• Body-of-water suggestions from where you are
• Float Plans in CSV Export and Import
• The log's narrative grows as you type
• On a smaller iPhone or with larger text, the log lists fit the screen instead of cutting off at the edges
• The ? help buttons are off; turn them on in Settings

FIXES
• Sheets no longer open blank the first time
• Opening a log no longer replaces its body of water with its waypoint's
• A search no longer carries over to the next list
• CSV import stops at a row it can't read instead of hanging, and Documents import no longer leaves blank documents
• Data Health finds duplicate to-dos, blank documents and logs, and placeholder maintenance notes
• Deleting a float plan while searching deletes the one you swiped
• Float plans fill in the operator from the log's captain; a tool's reminder opens the tool
• Add Crew fills the screen on iPhone

Fair winds. Questions and suggestions are always welcome — they shape each release.
