Exceptionally great quick reference program. Why try to remember formulas and have notes jotted all over when this app remembers everything you'll need for you? I would recommend this app to anyone just starting out in boating or as I was looking for as much info as I could find, I read the previous review saying it was very basic well sometimes it is better to start with accurate basic info than to assume you know everything. It would be nice to be able to change some of the consumption rates in the fuel flow calcs. I was looking for a vmg calc. It does not have one. All calculations are so basic its embarrassing. I will not be using this for anything. Updated : still useless ### 1/5 — Boating calcs for the USA only *2012-02-23, version 3.0* This app is USA centric, and is not particularly useful to the rest of the sailing world. As examples, the only base times to convert FROM are the four US zones... Hello! Conversions of fuel consumption do not include the european/rest of the world figure of litres per 100km. I could elaborate - but this app needs a lot of work before it is sold outside the US mainland. ### 2/5 — An American app, unfortunately narrow minded *2013-03-09, version 3.2* An American app, unfortunately narrow minded. Does not even acknowledge A region buoyage. Calculations all based on American methods. Unfortunately it does not have yet a True Wind Calc which would be very useful for sailing in any environment. This is the first review I have written for any app, and I have several hundred, many of which I've deleted after not finding them useful or them being the best of a category. This newest version of the app just does so much, and the UI is beautiful and elegant. ### 4/5 — Excellent with one exception *2013-07-20* The product is US-centric. As a safety concern, anyone using the pilotage and bouyage references elsewhere would get the exact opposite, i.e. System A versus System B. Similarly, the weather predictions section is wrong for the Southern Hemisphere. I am quite impressed by the information contained in this app. While the information is primarily aimed at boaters, rather than seafarers, and in many cases the definitions and information is new to me, it is very rational and sources are given. Well done, Double Dog! If I had one recommendation to make.
