### 5/5 — Mountain Weaher course saved my life

*2024-04-02*

I fly on the east coast but do cross the Appalachians regularly. I never considered them mountains and never experienced more than an occasional chopped. I took the course just to keep learning. The other day the flight was CAVU and perfect except the wind was unusually perpendicular to the mountains at 60 kts at 12,000' and I was worried about mountain waves but never thought they occured over the Appalachians. At the southern edge of the mountain range with the peaks at only 4000' and me at 14,000' (I climbed thinking about turbulence) I sudden and smoothly began descending at 800 ft/min. After being startled I knew I was in a wave, adjusted power and pitch and within a minute I was out of it but descended 1000'. As an East Coast flier I thought this was only a West Coast event. Anyway, if it wasn't for the course I wouldn't have even thought about a wave on a beautiful flying day and would not have so confidently managed it. So thanks Colin and the BoldMethod.

### 5/5 — Iron sharpens iron

Thanks to everyone doing their due diligence in making aviation knowledge the new common knowledge. I believe if we do have more pilots in the world the future will be bright for common air commute. #flyingcars

### 5/5 — VFR Charts

Great presentation and real easy to learn from. Great refresher for a airline pilot to get back to basic VFR flying!

### 5/5 — Great Redreasher

### 5/5 — Amazing tool for pilots!

### 5/5 — Mountain weather course.

I have found this course content to be concise and well presented. The real world applications are easy to understand and made me feel well prepared for evaluating mountain weather scenarios.

### 5/5 — Y I bought Bold Method

*2023-06-24, version 2.2*

Collin, Bold Method was recommended to me by a CFI. I am using the Airspace course to study for a retest for my CFI to correct a deficiency in Airspace. Hope this helps you.

### 5/5 — Boldmethod

*2023-05-25, version 2.2*

Very well done.

### 5/5 — Great Coaching for a Pilot, Young or Old

*2023-04-22, version 2.2*

I have been flying for 20 years and have 1,700 hours. I felt my landings recently were actually getting worse! I needed to get back to the basics and re-learn everything that is happening when landing and then go out a practice. I’m not done yet, but I am definitely headed in the right direction. Colin has a very positive encouraging attitude that translates into us feeling good about learning and flying. Great stuff for pilots young and old!

### 5/5 — Amazing concise way to digest aviation topics

*2023-04-11, version 2.2*

As a private pilot who has not flown in a few years I bough the bar sectional course and it really helped me get back into the mindset of understanding how to interpret sectional markings and data points. Well worth the money and I plan to purchase additional courses in the future. These courses are so digestible and the guided approach helps you refresh on an overwhelming amount of information in a paced and methodical approach.

### 5/5 — Extremely polished, reliable, and exceptional quality

*2023-02-04, version 2.2*

I’ve been a Boldmethod customer for many years, and the content keeps getting better. It always feels professional and polished, authoritative and well-researched, and—really importantly—adherent to sound practices for adult education. This is a small company with real people who are active in the aviation community and are truly working each day to make us better and safer with really top-notch content.

### 5/5 — BoldMethod is a gold standard training app

*2022-12-21*

There’s no better aviation training app. The app is well organized, the content is of the highest quality, and the presentation of materials makes learning simple and long lasting.

**Developer response:** Thank you Steven, we appreciate it!

### 5/5 — If you know you know

*2022-12-20, version 2.2*

These guys have been making professional level content for years now. Extremely knowledgeable and clear instruction about sometimes confounding aviation concepts. Most of their content has been free on YouTube and helped countless pilots pass their airline interviews, myself included. Recently purchased their mountain flying course and I’m blown away how well they understand and present potentially life saving knowledge about how to predict avoid and even fly through a mountain wave if you get caught. If you think about how much this level of instruction would cost one on one, let alone if you could find someone at this level to give you the time, it’s a no brainer. If you like to fly and you don’t like dying, check out their free stuff and when you’re convinced, invest in yourself.

### 5/5 — Great Detail

*2022-12-02, version 2.2*

Money well spent when training for your PPL.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 3/5 — Cumbersome!

*2023-08-29, version 3.18*

There’s no doubt very good content in the course segments in this app. But it wasn’t particularly what I was looking for as a help in making better landings. And, I found the app layout to be maddeningly cumbersome and confusing with regards to progressing through the course. It would back up to a segment that had previously completed and I had a hard and frustrating time moving to the segment. Or, I couldn’t complete a segment and move to the next lesson. It would take me back to previous lessons after I hit the finish button. It was frustrating! I’ve been using Apple products for nearly 50 years so I’m not a complete amateur with programs and apps.

### 3/5 — Somewhat happy

*2023-01-20, version 2.2*

Quits on me every once in awhile for no reason

### 4/5 — Great training with room to improve

*2026-02-22, version 4.2*

I love the way the material is presented. The visual highlight with text block selections is great. I love the quizzes and the potential length. The improvement I’d suggest is that when I get an answer wrong twice and the program gives me the answer ‘how’ it arrived at that answer would be most welcomed. Often while I might know the right answer, I’m unsure why that is the right answer.

### 4/5 — Airspace course

*2023-05-31, version 2.2*

I am almost done with this course, as a preliminary to taking my BFR next week. I am getting a great deal of information that I have missed in the past 45 years of flying. I find the organization of the course to be smooth and easy to understand. I have only one real complaint: I would like to have explanations of the answers in the quizzes, and sometimes I get the right answer or the wrong answer and I don’t know why. It’s a small complaint, as. I have learned a great deal. Thank you for the course.

### 4/5 — First Time User

*2021-09-29, version 2.2*

I decided that I needed a little help with my airspace knowledge so I signed up for a review with Boldmethod.

I love the format and ease of use, it’s really helpful to be able to keep taking the quizzes until you are satisfied with your scores, but I wish that there was a better way to go back and review those areas with low scores. It may be there but I haven’t found it yet.

Still, I would be happy to recommend the Boldmethod site for both old and new Pilot’s. I plan on taking some of the advanced courses in the near future.

### 5/5 — Best IFR course out there

### 5/5 — The best

*2026-05-24, version 4.2*

I’m a CFI and this is hands down the best course for instrument students and even instrument rated pilots refreshing their skills. It truly is worth the money.

### 5/5 — Best way to learn

*2026-03-24, version 4.2*

These guys really are the best. I’ve bought every study guide available and bold method is definitely the best

### 5/5 — Experienced Military Pilot

*2026-03-12, version 4.2*

I fly just frequently enough to feel current and comfortable in an airplane. This is a great app to keep anyone’s mindset always fresh on those IFR and VFR rules and techniques. It’s a great refresher and a great extension beyond their already fantastic website.

### 5/5 — Instrument Course Review

*2026-02-14, version 4.2*

It’s been a couple of months since I took the instrument written knowledge exam. I purchased this course to help me prepare for the checkride. It’s thorough and logically presented. Aleks is a great instructor. He’s very easy to understand and he doesn’t bore me to sleep like some of the competitors’ courses do. Great job and thank you to the folks at Boldmethod!

## Most praised reviews (5 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Incredible Free Tools

### 5/5 — Best instructional videos by far

*2026-01-16, version 4.2*

### 5/5 — Great Explanations!

*2025-09-14, version 4.2*

Always love listening to Boldmethod. Precise information on great topics, both IFR and VFR with fun quizzes.

### 5/5 — Extraordinary Resource for Instrument Students and Rated Pilots

*2025-09-06, version 4.2*

I just completed all 42 hours of videos in the BoldMethod Instrument Procedures course. As with everything BoldMethod does, the course is exceptionally well done. It is comprehensive and full of practical advice. I only wish that I’d had access to it sooner in my preparation for my instrument check ride. The AI search tool is an excellent resource as well, based on curated information rather than random opinions on the internet. Congratulations, BoldMethod!

### 5/5 — Best in the biz

*2025-05-01, version 4.1*

Awesome presentation, easy to use. Been many years since I passed the written test, I still use this often for brushing up.
