### 2/5 — Presence sensing automations have never been worked

*2026-03-25, version 3.1.8*

The good news is I can remote control 5 units with the Boldr app and it works every time. That’s about all I can say positive about it. I’d love to be able to use presence sensing so the system goes into an away mode when everyone leaves and back to home mode when anyone arrives. I’ve never seen this work. Judging by the automation history, when it does trigger an automation from presence sensing, it runs both. I’ve reported this multiple times to support. I wonder if anyone there actually uses their own product.

### 2/5 — Not easy

*2026-01-04*

Took numerous times and over 1 hour to accomplish.

**Developer response:** Hi there!
I'm Matheus, CTO at Boldr. If you’re open to it, please reach out to me directly at matheus@teamboldr.com I would love to understand what issue you faced during the setup.
We’re actively improving the onboarding to make it much faster and clearer. You’re absolutely right, setup should not take that long, and I’m sorry about the frustrating experience.
Email me and I'll try to get these issues fixed.
Best,
Matheus

### 3/5 — Difficult setup and Wi-Fi reconfiguration

*2025-12-28*

I wanted to like this thermostat, but the setup and app experience have been extremely frustrating.

From day one, I had to call customer support just to get the app to control the unit at all. Recently, I needed to change Wi-Fi networks, and that turned into another long ordeal. I came close to getting it back online once, but could never fully complete the process.

After attempting a factory reset, the screen instructed me to “hold phone near unit,” but nothing ever happened. I eventually went into my phone’s Wi-Fi settings and connected the thermostat to the network manually — not because the device told me to, but because it was the only thing that seemed to work. Even then, the screen stayed stuck on “finish in app,” endlessly spinning, and the setup never actually completed.

The hardware itself seems fine, but the onboarding, Wi-Fi setup, and app reliability are not. For a smart thermostat, basic tasks like initial setup and changing networks should be straightforward. Unfortunately, they’re not. “The app never suggested creating a new home, which turned out to be the only way to fix the issue.”

Until the app and provisioning process are significantly improved, I would hesitate to recommend this product to anyone who isn’t very patient or very technical.

**Developer response:** Hi David, thanks for sharing this feedback.
You’re absolutely right — changing Wi-Fi and getting through setup should be simple, and I’m sorry this turned into such a frustrating experience.

What you described around getting stuck on “finish in app” and needing to manually connect is not how it should work. We’re actively improving this flow, and your note about having to create a new home is especially helpful.

If you’re open to it, I’d love to help get things working properly. You can reach me directly at matheus@teamboldr.com
. Any additional details or suggestions you’re willing to share there would also really help us improve the app.

Thanks again for taking the time to write this.

### 2/5 — Missing HomeKit integration

*2025-12-18, version 3.1.3*

Everything’s fine except the fact that HomeKit is not available at all even if advertised on the website

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2025-10-30, version 3.0.5*

Bought Klima from Kickstarter with the statement that HomeKit integration would be possible. It’s been two years and it is still not the case. If I had known, I would’ve purchased something else.

### 1/5 — Non-professional buggy app

*2025-06-23, version 2.12.0*

Great heater - terrible app. Full of bugs and not able to do simple turn on / turn off consistently.

### 4/5 — Make a sleep timer

*2025-05-29, version 2.11.1*

It would be so awesome of you could fall asleep and set the app to turn off the AC in 20-30 minutes so you dont manually have to turn it off

### 3/5 — A good start

*2025-05-05, version 2.10.0*

The app is a good start, but there’s plenty of updates that would make life better.

The scheduling is really a pain. There are also less options I can control than with my old Sensibo (like turn off beeps, led, change display units on the head unit).

I also bought this product with the understanding it would support home assistant, and use matter. It doesn’t currently, but at least it’s on the roadmap. I’d be very upset if that was dropped and I’d love to see a public roadmap to understand what progress is being made on the app and devices.

If development continues at pace and quality of life features are added, this will be a much better product than the competition. It has a way to go currently.

### 1/5 — Bolder or how to overkill an app

*2025-04-13, version 2.9.5*

Automation? That’s the last straw. After forcing to switch from a bad app half controlling the heaters to a worse app where heaters randomly turn on and roast you, now automation?! Why? Does the team have a problem with customer experience? Do you guys really think that your user want to overthink their heaters???? The answer is no. And now I can’t even turn back to the lousy schedule half controlling my already out of controls heaters.

### 1/5 — DO NOT BUY Worst app, terrible product

*2025-03-14*

I bought the Kelvin heater specifically so I could set up a schedule and turn it on remotely. The app didn’t work for me for the first month. Finally after many emails to their help desk and an “update” on their end I got the app to set up and link to my heater. The heater has never actually gotten my room to the target temperature but seemed to work ok. Then out of the blue all of my information and schedule was deleted off the app. I’ve tried resetting and just get error messages at every turn. There is no thermostat on the unit itself so now it’s just ON to some unspecified temperature all the time unless I manually turn it off. Expensive junk and total scam. Also btw if you try to return it you have to pay to ship it back to Lithuania which was going to be $700. lol not funny

**Developer response:** Thank you for sharing your feedback, and I’m truly sorry to hear about your experience with the app and scheduler. We completely understand how frustrating it must be to encounter these issues, especially when scheduling is such an important feature for you.

Our engineering team is actively working to resolve the error message you’ve encountered when saving changes in the scheduler. We’re committed to fixing this in an upcoming update to ensure it works seamlessly for you.

Regarding the heating performance, we’d like to better understand your setup to determine if there’s anything we can do to improve the heater’s effectiveness. If you’re open to it, please reach out to us directly at support@teamboldr.com so we can assist you further.
Best regards,
The Boldr Team

### 2/5 — Not user friendly

*2025-03-11, version 2.9.4*

I have been using Ecobee for years. The developers should have looked at their setup before creating this mess.

No apparent option to change from C to F.

Schedules are set in four hour blocks and don’t appear to be changeable.

No option to “copy previous day” or anything similar, so setting a week’s worth of schedules requires 40+ changes.

### 1/5 — Frustrating app

*2025-03-11, version 2.9.4*

When I try to set to a specific temperature on the schedule, the app rounds to the nearest even number. Very frustrating.

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2026-04-04*

Obviously, not ready for primetime release. App needs lots of work and servers need upgrading during busy weekend and holiday times!

**Developer response:** Thanks for the direct feedback. Reliability under load is a core requirement, and we agree that the experience needs to hold up during peak usage periods like weekends and holidays. We’ve been making ongoing improvements to app stability, backend performance, and infrastructure resilience to reduce these issues, but it’s clear there are still gaps to close. We appreciate you taking the time to surface it. If it comes up again please don't hesitate to reach out directly to me.

### 1/5 — Buggy Mess

*2025-12-01*

App is a bug-filled frustration, matched only by the poor instructions and website

**Developer response:** Hi there, I’m Matheus, Boldr’s CTO. I’m really sorry for the frustration here. This is obviously not the experience we want anyone to have, and I’d like to understand exactly what went wrong so we can fix it.

If you’re open to it, please email me directly at matheus@teamboldr.com or reach out to our support team at support@teamboldr.com. If you can share the issues you ran into or any screenshots, we’ll dig into it right away and make the necessary improvements.

### 1/5 — App does not work do not buy

*2025-11-22*

App does not work heaters only work without any integration from the app. There is no sense of monitoring them. They are not what you are going to buy. Do not buy anything from this company when I reached out to them to tell them how poor the product was it did not matter. I was never going to get any sort of compensation or making the product right this company is a fraud. One star would be gracious of me if I could do anything, it would be negative stars absolute waste of money.

**Developer response:** Hi, this is Matheus, CTO at Boldr.

I’m really sorry you had an experience this bad. Your heaters should absolutely work with the app, and if they didn’t, something went wrong on our side. Calling us a fraud is tough to read, but I get that it comes from frustration, and I want to understand exactly what happened so we can fix it.

Please email me directly at matheus@teamboldr.com. I’ll look into your case myself and see what we can do to get your setup working or make things right.

Thanks for speaking up. I hope we can turn this around.

### 1/5 — Mistake purchase

*2025-11-14, version 3.1.0*

1. Works only via app and internet connection. So if power goes forget this heater even with alternative electric source. 2. App is horrible. Gets stuck and you have to download again. 3. Wants you to connect to devices related to heater via it WiFi network, taking your phone off your own network, wreaking havoc.

### 1/5 — App Needs A LOT of Work

*2025-11-06, version 3.0.5*

This app makes the unit almost unusable. Such a cool unit and concept - need the app to work better before we install any more in this house.

### 1/5 — Worst app ever

*2025-11-06, version 3.0.5*

2 different Kelvin’s with two sensors and none of them will properly pair or stay connected. Makes the heater nearly useless. Abysmal.

### 1/5 — This does not work, don’t buy

*2025-11-05, version 3.0.5*

It worked ok for 6 months. Then it stopped working, winner connect to wifi. Tried to get help, even set up an appointment but nobody called. What a waste of money

### 1/5 — Utter Garbage

*2025-10-24, version 3.0.4*

The app and heater don’t connect. Instructions are minimal and useless, as is supporting documentation/website. I’m incredibly disappointed and will be returning the Kelvin after much wasted time.

### 1/5 — Excruciatingly frustrating

*2025-10-21, version 3.0.1*

See title

### 1/5 — Terrible experience!!

*2025-10-19, version 3.0.1*

This was the worst experience I have ever had with an app enabled product. This is not smart climate control made easy.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — From a technician

*2026-06-03*

The Boldr setup was seamless and straightforward, many options for mounting and different circumstances. I like it and you will too!

### 5/5 — My issues were resolved promptly

*2026-04-29*

Boldr resolved my presence sensing issues and it’s been working well since. Everything seems to working as advertised, I’m very pleased.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the detailed feedback. I’m glad remote control has been reliable for your 5 units, but the presence sensing behavior you’re describing is clearly wrong. Those automations should transition cleanly between home and away states, and they should not be firing conflicting actions from the same presence event.

I also understand the frustration of having reported this multiple times without seeing it resolved. That is on us. Please reach out to me directly at matheus@teamboldr.com
so I can look into your exact setup with our engineering team and understand what is happening in your case. Feedback like this is very helpful, and I’d like to help get to the bottom of it.

*2025-11-21*

The app is so easy to use. Very intuitive and makes adjusting temp from anywhere a breeze.

### 5/5 — Works great!

*2025-11-21*

I feel like the app got a lot better. I have not had any issues with it so far despite having lots of rooms/units.

### 5/5 — Improving Rapidly - Responsive Customer Service

*2025-07-16, version 2.12.1*

I had a few issues to start, but an extremely responsive customer service and capable engineering have made me a delighted customer

### 5/5 — Great support from the team.

*2025-06-18, version 2.12.0*

Great support after my units weren’t supported by the app. A few emails later and it’s updated and now works almost out of the box. Thank you all for your help. Especially Jamie, Dua and Keegan.

### 5/5 — Great improvements

*2025-05-31, version 2.11.1*

I was dissapointed that the featured claimed on the website were not available in reality at the time of purchase. I even considered buying a different, more mainstream brand all together. However, I am glad to see that they had continued to update the app and the features are improving since I purchased 6 months ago.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2025-04-29, version 2.10.0*

Works well as described , don’t have any problems with the app or device

### 5/5 — Works!

*2025-02-20, version 2.9.3*

Easy set up and it eliminates a problem that I had with Mr Cool split system. I can now for the first time monitor and control the system with my Boldr app.

### 5/5 — Great App - Easy Setup

*2025-01-25, version 2.9.2*

Product was extremely easy to set up with a step-by-step guide with visual images and videos. The only thing I would say is missing would be compatible with Apple Watch. Hopefully in the near future that becomes a possibility.
