It helps you improve at a single word, but it lacks pronunciation to improve the sentences. It has a limited amount of words also, which is all right. They're lacking new words for the same pronunciations, but that's not too bad. It lacks exercises where you kind of have conversations a lot and help improve your sentences. You end up just sounding with perfect words but like an AI robot instead of sentences. Yes, they do have AI practice sessions for role play, but that's not very helpful. They should internee more pronunciation improvements at sentencing so you kind of catch works like lemme instead of saying ^ let me^ . There are so many words or sentences that Americans kind of do it silently instead of saying the entire word. You will never get that with this app. This app will just teach you a word. They don’t point out your actual mistakes- it’s a massive AI slop. ### 1/5 — Disappointed *2026-08-17, version 4.3.1* I’m disappointed with the lack of flexibility in BoldVoice. While the app uses AI to personalize your learning journey, you cannot freely browse and select specific lessons from the curriculum. Instead, you have to wait for the system to decide what comes next. BoldVoice suggested using features like the Sound Library, Just Speak, AI Chat, and practicing your own text, but these don’t solve the core issue. If I know I need to work on a specific pronunciation skill or lesson, I should be able to select it directly. Personalization is useful, but it shouldn’t come at the expense of user choice. For a paid learning app, I expected much more control over how and what I practice. This app seems like a way to get rid of beautiful accents and make everyone sound neutral/American instead of trying to sound like a different accent. ### 1/5 — Frustrating subscription and cancellation experience *2026-07-27, version 4.2.2* I am very disappointed with how the trial and cancellation process is handled on this app. I signed up for a 1-week free trial, but trying to cancel before getting charged turned into a frustrating runaround between the app interface and the Stripe billing portal. The system makes it unnecessarily difficult to cancel your membership, routing you in circles while attempting to push through an annual charge.
